SLW, I've noticed the same thing. I think that the embers are still hot from the whole empire recruiting thing (I don't want to start anything--so if this is a sore spot, move along. Nothing to see here).

I just got an email today with my AP serial number. I successfully registered on Stardock, but when I try to download, I come up with the following error. Download: C:\Program Files\Stardock\SDCentral\temp\gcx.zip 0 (http error -8) Result: Installation failed Aarrgh!! My hopes dashed once again. :sniff: Does anyone know what is wrong?

J.T. I think you really are a metaverse special case (no insult intended). I don't think that anyone has been submitting high scoring games as long and as infrequently as you. Since your empire score depreciates by 10% each month, we get the amazing result that the empire is less than the sum of its parts!! (Maybe that's why Star Trek is so popular--or hated.)

All right, time for my two bits. I agree that there are weaknesses in the AI. It does some pretty predictable things and also some non-sensical things. But you know what? So do I. I disagree with the assertion that the AI only goes for military wins. I have had several games recently where the computer was determined to flip my planets (yes, I just said "determined" not "programmed"). J.T. I concur with you. Just because you can consistently beat the computer in a certain way

I agree, Paul. I love to see the random assignments of the various AI's. There was one game where I was literally surrounded by the Carinoids, Alexians, and Torians. No expansion for me until I managed to plow through their perimeter. I find the surprise one of the most exciting parts of the game.

Raise taxes to 75%. You'll lose the next election, then you can go to war. ;) Seriously, though, if you get your morale up near 100%, even the Pacifists won't overrule a decision to go to war.

Is your question whether, in AP, you can just play good ole GalCiv? If so, then, the answer is yes (with eight races instead of six). Of course you can always just use your shortcut to GalCiv. It will play the original game. Hope it helps. (That logo brings me nostalgia (:()

Do you have Drengin.net? You get the GalCiv updates just by owning GalCiv. You have to pay extra to subscribe to Drengin.net. AP was showing for a while, but it was removed in preparation for the next beta that was released yesterday. I know because I preordered the expansion and am waiting beyond anxiously for them to release the gamma. [Message Edited]

Most games with the cheats enabled will give you an anomalous game. That scores you a big goose egg. I know a lot of people who use the cheats. They just never submit games. [Message Edited]
