I saw the following as I was reading through the GC3 change log: + CBattleGfxObjectShip:: UpdateMovement: Calculates a quaternion rotation at the given path point + CBattleGfxObjectPathData:: PathPoint: Removed yaw and pitch, replaced with orientation + CBattleGfxObjectPathData:: GetTransformAtTime: Now uses spherical interpolation of quaternions to calculate rotation matrix of the ship Either the GC3 programmers are makin

We actually release on Thursdays to give QA max time with it and it gives us time on Friday to hot patch if anything goes wrong. We have patched on Friday's (usually when we fix a last minute bug and want a QA cycle on it before it goes out) but we don't like doing it. We generally like later in the week because we know most people play on the weekends, so we work hard to make sure it's ready for the weekend (which is why in the few cases where we released o

We had to redo the font system entirely to deal with this. But that work has all been done and Beta2 is using the new system. Please let us know if your frame rate has improved.
We are scheduled for this Thursday assuming no issues come up in QA. I've definitely been enjoying playing and bartering with the AI players (btw, never trust the Drengin). In our first build the AI would trade techs for about anything so there was a crazy tech race going on, but things are more balanced now. We need feedback from you folks to figure out if its to tight or loose in the latest but its feeling pretty good to me. Paul has been in playing and tweaking things on a dail

Yes, it isn't released yet. We are planning to release it on Thursday. And you are so right, I should be playing the 100 player game today. Crazy Stardock making me work! ;)
Gotta ask about the races though, are they just going to be renamed repeats of the same races? Am i going to start on earth and somehow discover hundreds of human civilizations starting up? My solution would be a sort of randomizer for creating races, including their portrait (different head shape, eyes, skin colour etc). Diplomacy could be conducted with just a static picture instead of creating the anima
Dropping 32bit support was a huge change for Galactic Civilizations. On the one hand we know that it means that there is a percentage of potential customers that won't be able to play the game. On the other, we are able to do things we could never do before, such as play a game with 100 players, which is exactly what I did this week. The following is the results. *** Disclaimer *** The following i
Thanks. I'm fascinated with AI myself, especially the mathematics that goes behind it all. How about these sexy asteroids... will that raise the rating of the game from G... to M (as in 'Mmmmm that's a good looking asteroid')
It's not an asteroid belt anymore, it's an asteroid thong. Uranus has never looked so good.
@Parrottmath: Yes the AI does invade planets, I'm sure that work could be improved, but it does have support for it.* @Larsenex: Planetary Invasion did move to the 2nd age. But you dont need as many techs to unlock the 2nd age, and the 2nd age is unlocked in Alpha 3. * AI is an onion. I'm sure Brad could write books on the subject but it's interesting for me to watch the process as an outsider. For GC3 we have a developer who is
