OOOH betas within betas! :)

Bloom is now enabled by default
End of quote

I think you need 'levels' of bloom. Something from "HDR Bloom" all the way up to "Star Trek Blinding Lens Flare"

I really hated the "lens flare" they did in Star Trek. It really made the move hard for some of us to watch. Some of it was ok (added some realism to it) but they really went way overboard, I'd hate to see that happen in GC3, even as an option.

Edit: -- Hey, the quote function is working again.

See, this is why we must find bugs, exploit them ruthlessly, take snapshots, and post them on the web before they all get fixed :bebi:

The highest badge of honor for any Alpha / Beta tester is to say: They fixed this bug because of me --

It still isn't quite correct. Here are two pictures:

From main map with the shipyard selected.

From the shipyard view.

The shipyard view does not add up correctly. It is .1 unit short (perhaps this is a rounding problem).

The shipyard veiw shows 4.7 units and the main map selected item view shows 4.6 units.

So true.  We need a "I broke the game!" badge.

Dungeons of Dredmor did that. When the game crashed, when you loaded the game up again you got the achievement "Suddenly The Dungeon Collapses"

http://steamcommunity.com/stats/DungeonsOfDredmor/achievements

Of course I'm not sure if its a good or bad thing that 38% of users have this achievement :P

I tried the opt-in, but my game slowed down a lot when hitting the turn button. I will opt-out to see if it returns to the way it was before.

I have done a "sideline business" in my technical career in breaking things or hacking them both as part of my job and as part of my personality.  A lot of times I got asked to.    A lot of times, I don't really mean to.  The worst is when I am breaking some people/process/procedure thing in mundane life.  I learned from others with this "talent" that the true reward was in the accomplishment, "What do you mean, I can't do that? I already did."  It was a sort of hacker Zen, and I found it worked for me.

But yes, oh yes, a badge for those who submit valid crash reports would tickle my heart, maybe a red circle around the founders badge, something that labels us as dangerous.  }:)

If finished games passed out that badge, then I'd say go for it... during the alpha and beta process... I think anyone can get that badge ;) I know I can crash the game any time I want right now. It's a ship designer bug :)

I'm assuming that applying this patch will break any current ongoing games? Practice the general rule of thumb of starting a new game whenever you patch?

I will volunteer. How big is the dl and how long will it be available? I just got watch dogs and infamous second son so I'm a bit busy though... :)

DARCA ;)

Well, I did the opt-out and my speed returned to normal, which made me happy. It's not fun sitting here looking at a screen able to do nothing.

Hello,

I have a problem with UI menus not showing text, so i was asked by support (on the 22th of august) to try the opt in beta patch opt-in - v0.41.2 Update Opt-In via the Betas menu in the game properties.

But in betas i can select to opt into i have just : NONE - Opt out of all beta programs

Any advice?

Thanks !

edit : i forgot to addthat the game auto updated today (maybe that's why i dont see the opt in at all? older version?)

The beta update switched from opt-in to the official update.

I'm afraid i'm still seeing no text, and it's still telling me that my integrated graphics card is out of date (rather than using my switchable graphics)

Same here. No text for menus with my Geforce card on my laptop, and if i switch to the Intel integrated card, i see text obviously but the game is ultra slow (the Intel card cant compete with the geforce one, so its obviously slow)

Updated my ticket

Since its an official update will it re download?

If you already have the opt-in beta, it shouldn't.  It's the same patch.

The UI text issue still persists with patch 0.41 final. See here and here.

Graphics performance still crap, but otherwise good I guess.

Here's something from a support email:

If you're missing fonts or not seeing them show properly, please try the following instructions below after exiting GalCiv3.

-Navigate to this directory: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Galactic Civilizations III\Fonts
-Run this EXE: gc3_font_setup.exe
-Start up GalCiv3 and see if the fonts show up properly.

If you are still not seeing the fonts, try deleting a few files listed below in this directory: C:\ProgramData\Stardock\Galactic Civilizations III

K2FontData_Small.fontdata
K2FontTexture_Small.dds

Afterwards try verifying the game's cache files. Open up Steam and right click on the game and select properties, then choose the option 'Verify Integrity of Game Cache' like so: http://screencast.com/t/QwZ9xVyT

After the game files are read/repaired attempt to run the game again in Steam and see if that fixes the issue.

If this did not work for you, please try downloading and installing the font at this website:
