I'm a bit stumped by this. PM me your steam id and I will see if I can find a time to ping you and we can work on it together, if you have time. It really sounds like you have mods disabled in options, but I know you mentioned that you have already checked that. Also if you can send me your \\my documents\my games\galciv3\debug.err file I would love to check it out.

"Fixing" the faction traits is the first comment in the balance list. So those are all back to normal in patch 3. Yeah, we have talked about the pros and cons of armor both ways. On the one hand its cleaner to have the clear design of Armor is for Kinetics, Shields are for Lasers, etc. It's easier to understand for new players and its a cleaner strategic decision. On the other, patterns can be boring and making Armor different makes the system feel more real a
I was playing a 100 player game over the weekend and passed some saves to Brad and the dev team to check out (to investigate perf time). The got the time between turns down from 92 seconds to 30 seconds the last time we measured. We continue to make adjustments, so those stats should continue to improve. You will see a list of perf improvements in patch 3 for exactly this reason. Most of these perf improvements make the game faster and smoother even on normal small maps, so its a win
–RELEASED 04/20/2015– Galactic Civilizations III Beta 5.3 is live! This update adds pirate bases, improves performance (particularly on large maps), fixes bugs, boosts the AI, and polishes up the interface. What’s not to love? Featu
I don't know about you Derek but I blame Brad.
I would never say such a thing about our fearless leader. ;) We have updated the opt-in patch to fix the issue with the Universal Translator for the Yor and Kyrnn. QA is testing it right now and assuming they give the thumbs up we will switch the patch to public this afternoon and start posting details about patch 3.
We are going to fix this Monday before we switch the patch to public.
This patch made Ideology worse!!! Now when I play the game as long as I have points in each ideology I can spam all of them to full in one turn cause the points don't get spent, and and cost of each does not increase. Made the game not fun to play at all, cause cheating like that is BOOOOORING!
I suspect this is only when l
Credits change is WAD as well. (and will continue to be changed, expect a new base value in patch 3, we are doing a lot of play testing with it). Mars not giving a colonizaing event is also WAD. We didn't want to hit the player with another new mechanic right off of the bat, you will need to travel outside of your solar system to get your first ideology event.
Thank you so much for submitting those crash files, we are eager to check them out.
This will be fixed in patch 3.
"Iridium starts with 2 trade routes an can't build freighters to start game." This is WAD (working as designed).
You too, thanks again.
Thanks for this, we are going to fix this before we push the patch public.
I have your whole bugfix mod downloaded here. I'll be going through it this week and incorporating fixes in for patch 3. Thanks for doing this!
Is there a reason that most factions had their traits changed? I didn't see anything about that in the change log. The drengin now have a net 14 in traits and the iconian now only have net 3, most other races seem to have about 9. Customs still have 5 points.
No, I will get those switched back. Thanks!
Cool, I'll check the Altarian. Is it the normal Survey ship, or did you make a new survey ship design?
It is working for me (tested with the Iconian Survey ship). What faction were you playing as? Or if you were custom which factions ship designs were you using?
There should be more entries in the file from your later attempts (it doesn't overwrite this file like the others). Mine has the same bclair entires (he's the guy here who makes the builds) and then attempts looking in the correct directories on my machine.
Mods seem to be working fine for me. Let me know if anyone else is seeing this.
Patch has been released as an opt-in patch. Please let us know if you run into any issues.
Hmm. This is more of a Steam question than a GalCiv question since Steam handles all of that. I would typically just uninstall and reinstall in the new location (but i'm not data usage limited). Maybe others know another way? You may try asking on the general steam forums since this wouldn't be game specific (if someone knows a way to do this with Dota2 it should work just as well for Gc3).
stupid question of noob; just downloaded beta civ3; cannot access patch for game as i have no key via steam... and, there is no ship designer? how the heck do i even proceed with this. its like i got the alpha from a year ago
Where did you download it from if not through steam? The ship designer has been in since Alpha 2. Maybe you are looking for it on the main menu (it'
This is my favorite thread on the internet. I am hopeful we will cross out a lot of these issues with Patch 2.
We are in the process of making new logos. We didn't want the minor factions to wait for them. And gossamer is an English word that means thin gauze or veil. It may also be the name of an underwear company, but that wasn't why it was selected as the name of our mysterious minor faction.
Derek, Thanks I was hoping for the patch as Opt in by the weekend. I told my Girlfriend to get lost and have a steak ready for Saturday night. Now I am ready for the weekend!
We will be putting a password on the patch, you will only get it if your girlfriend tells us that you have been nice to her, and agreed to have a steak ready for her Saturday night. ;)
