I did end up asking Paul not long after this post on the Galciv3 dev stream. I had a quick look on the utube page for the exact video but couldn't find it. BUT from memory all Diplomatic Bonus does (from the embassy) is help prevent further degradation of a races opinion of you. If they already hate you it wont help much if at all, if they like you it will be harder for them to hate you. So in a way its more about keeping all races at there current opinion levels and not s
If you make a custom shipyard, one thing to note is that for some reason, the actual shipyard when used in game, will be rotated 90 degrees. So if I make a shipyard that looks like the first picture, it will end up looking like the second picture when used in game.
Just a few question about custom shipyards: -does the hull size you start with matter? -Is there an easy way to load the current shipyards, say the terran, into the game desi
Yeah, that is what I and I thought the previous poster meant sorry. For my purposes direct-modding the race isn't an option. Glad it works in some capacity though!
You were correct @ Gauntlet03 , im wanting to make a non custom race star system. Thank you @
Thx for your offer. I'd like to get a view on your .dds file to find out how I could implement it.
Ended up making a guide for everyone. Should give you easy step by step instructions. :) https://forums.galciv3.com/472238/page/1/

I was asked how I was able to create a planet that had no continents on it yet still worked in game as a habitable planet like in my asteroid planet post: https://forums.galciv3.com/472214/page/1/#3593960 So here is a quick guide on how I accomplish this. As anyone who has attempted this already, simply removing the text in PlanetArtDefs will Automatically

its one of those things that everyone and later on Paul all wanted to have. In fact Paul already thought it was implemented in the early days which turned out to be wrong :P. It is available to do in the map editor so i think that the code base for easily implementing it is already there its just that Stardock needs to add it. That being said, i have a vague memory of Paul saying in one of the dev streams that he wanted to do something special or game-play related with stars later
Don't know if you caught this already, but I just wanted to point out that the "moon" shadow is still cast as if from a spherical body. You can see it right below the planet name. I'm not sure how to "fix" that, but other than that, this looks really promising. I'd love to see an asteroid-based civilization. If only the actual asteroid fields were colonizable... (hint, hint Stardock.)
Thanks! I

I made a new post with information on how to make an asteroid appear as your home planet here: https://forums.galciv3.com/472214/page/1/ I didn't want to post the entire thing here as it would involve changing the post title name and editing the main post which would just confuse things. I felt it needed a brand new clean post.

I had the idea of trying to make a new race that's home planet was a few low PQ asteroids. After some trial and error it dosnt seem possible to change the planet to an asteroid like the ones in game. At least not a way I can think of. But I have been able to come up with an outcome that is coming along the right track. I thought it might be a good idea to post my progress and things I have discovered in case it would be helpful to anyone. Or if anyone had advice for some of the problems I
Tried to use the usual GasPlanet texture without heightmap, but that won't work. Is there a way to cut out continents shape from the texture but still place production tiles on them? Probably forming a *.dds file that uses the whole area as continent but with transparent texture might be an idea.
I was able to make a brand new custom continent using my own textures and the way i believe is works, as you said, is it uses the texture in ord

Yeah no problem, Go to: https://esupport.stardock.com/index.php?/Tickets/Submit Make an account if you haven't already then log in. Then follow the steps at the above link. Eg: Games - SDGame_ > GalCiv III - SDGame, etc. then it lets you type in what the issue is. run the support tool at <a href="http://sd.stardock.com/Support/supportToolTe

I know what the answer will be :P!
Sorry to hear you're experiencing this problem. Can you download and run the tool below: http://sd.stardock.com/Support/supportToolTest/SDSupportTool.exe Then attach the .zip that's created and send it in with a ticket to support: https://esupport.stardock.com/index.php?/Tickets/Submit
Its really difficult

I dont know if this will work, but can you use the 'on-screen keyboard' app that comes with windows? Also have you enabled the console debug window out of game, it was removed in an earlier version and you need to re-enable it. In steam go to > GalCiv3 Properties, and click set launch options under general. Then type "Cheat" into the window without the " .

Edit: Dam you @ The_Gear , you hadn't replied when I started typing. Bet me to it xD! Im just guessing, but with such a large map how many ships do you have or are across the game right now. im curious if there are so many ships there is a memory issue or something random like that when it tried to "spawn" a new ship onto the map.

I know we cant edit schema files but i assume we can make custom schema files right? would that be a work around? Although i guess the game wont know what to do with it. Ideally, which may be deserving of another post.. if there is anyone who is able to do some coding they could make a simple program that compiles several key files together for anyone to use.. as there are also a few other files that if edited will have the same issue.. I know you can do it with some wo

Was able to get it half working, but the modding capabilities in Galciv 3 are surprisingly soo underwhelming. There is so much atm that your unable to modify or add. Ill a post proper a reply with all the things i learned and also haven't been able to get working when i get some time. But basically i was able to change the planet model to a single asteroid and change its textures up.. with a few frustrating issues which ill get into more detail later as well.
Do you mean that my ship are like 25% stronger instead of enemy ship being 25% weaker?
Is that the case? Or does the post above that "Actually you take 25% damage not the opponent." mean i receive 25% extra damage? that would explain why the opponents ships just seemed to get alot stronger within one turn after getting that ideology lol.

I was doing the same thing lol. It wasn't until I was mid game that I had so many constructors that I didn't really care if i lost one. One of the ships auto moved next to the pirates and I had that WTF moment, then decided not to do anything about it. That's when i noticed :P

Interesting, if that's the case im curious how does it activate exactly. Does that mean that any Ai that is going for a military victory automatically hates everybody else with -3? I thought that if two races both liked war, or the player was in a war with another race anyone with "I love war!" would like you more as your following there ideals. I guess what your saying does make sense albeit initially confusing. So is it also because of other factors such as because I am at wa
Both questions lead into one direction. You'll need pre-defined systems to get them working.
hmm, ill look into that then. Thank you :) if i get stuck ill reply here :P unless any others have other input
