I don't know of any in-game way of doing this. You would have to come up with a mod. I am only guessing, but I would look for the definitions of the number buttons that give the 4 specifiable default views. However, that does not assign a location. to a view. I have not seen anything that shows me such a function exists. The only mechanism that deals with tile location is Rally Points. That is more about assigning ship movement than camera parameters.
Quoting erischild, reply 10 Personally, I think it would be an excellent basis for an Expanded Events and Flavor Text DLC, with "extra snark" option. [e digicons];)[/e] I would buy that DLC, especially if it would also introduce state va
On an Excessive map with 15 Gifted opponents, I can take a tech victory before I have completely explored the galaxy. Once, I did the work of taking out 3 factions. My research rate just kept building with each new planet and spiking up on the graphs. Even without that, none of the other factions have a research rate anywhere near my obsessive levels. More important, none of them seemed particularly research focused compared to the others according to the graphs.
The main game is very strictly a sandbox and avoids any direct reference to lore, although there are some here and there. The idea seems to be that you make up your own lore just as much as use theirs, maybe even more with custom factions. I agree that the anomalies could have more variety. I don't want it to get too generous or game changing, but little bits of Ideology points, random maps, Diplomacy buffs affecting the nearest faction, an administrator point, a pet Space
Anomalies used to give a wider range of results, including little ships you could use for a bare minimum fleet. In the overall adjustments and balancing, the anomalies got simplified and nerfed, mostly, and tend to deal with random cash amounts or a limited set of other options. None of them have had options other than attack defended items or don't. Not sure what is meant by "meaningful" in this context. Because anomalies have such a wide range of galactic effects dep
It is difficult for me to have sympathy for anyone who pays full price for a product just prior to the Steam Summer sale. The Winter sale is pretty impactful, but the Summer Sale gets so extensive it is bound to hit some target you care about. This time, I broke down and did the package for Ashes. Also, this is not the first time I have seen Stardock pilloried for Steam's decisions. I still don't understand why people can't tell the difference. Sometimes it fee
It sure felt like a deliberate decision when I first noticed it. And it did mellow out some of my severe trait choices, so I thought it was effective. :)
As much as I can afford it during a long and vigorous Colony rush, I set aside 2 or 3 citizens as government scientists. When I am convinced I have found the best Research world and gotten the hub buildings up, they move there and stay there. 90% boost on a hub world is impressive! I make sure to park the right Mercs there and everything. If my gang of leaders is working Research as well, it gets even better. On a truly large map with a truly large empire, the
The game now uses a set of precompiled bin files for faster loading. Any deviations from base code now have to be in the mod folders. This is a fairly common sense thing to do in a highly modifiable environment. Allowing people to modify actual core files was always a sloppy arrangement, to my experience with managed code. Too much potential for unplanned and mystifying consequences. This standardizes the code handling. Not all change is without reason
The Gold bundle is $30! Everything I have except the shiny badge! Can I get a refund on my shiny badge and $100 and just buy the bundle? :) Nice little Steam deal. Hope it gets you some good business.
Correspondingly, anything below normal difficulty, you cheat. ;)
Oh come on. One minute there`s not enough now you`re overwhelmed? Be happy that your cup runneth over, don`t whine about it.
It is not accurate to conflate those who demanded more content and those who find the added content overwhelming. Nor is it fair. They are two separate groups of people using the same forum. Acting as if you weren't entirely aware of this conflation is either disingenuous or a c
I used to plant my first citizen on my home world. If you are on a sparse map and your home world is the only one you have, that is effectively an empire wide +30% bonus. Nowadays, I end up building up 2-3 scientists and saving them to plant on a really good Research planet I find. Still figuring things out, maybe. Fun!
Interesting phenomenon I noticed on games forums: Many people who pop up and throw hurdles in the way because they "think" it won`t work, without any evidence or positive counter-suggestions. It`s like they default to negativity. I notice this a lot. These ideas are for the Devs; they are best suited to deciding whether my suggestions are valid or not. +1 I dislike repeated posts on an old subject. On this subject I make a vigorous exception. I have already adjusted that particular setting a few hundred times now, possibly a few thousand. I play larger maps. That is way too many.
I believe in the concepts of primary Ideology and Ideology purity. As you accrue Ideology Points, whichever major Ideology has the most of your points is your primary Ideology. That is how you get diplomatically labelled. The ratio of your primary ideology to your total points is your purity ranking. This raises your diplomacy rating with factions of the same ideology and lowers the diplomacy rating with the two opposing factions. Amount of that shift is we
There needs to be incentives for staying 'true' to your vision of your race, and disincentives for hopping all over the Ideology tree just to grab the best options, which is what happens now.
Does that mean I am not actually focusing hard on Benevolent? Because I sure thought I was. The Benevolent choices make sense to me, both as roleplay and game choices. One of us must be confus
Audio files for Diplomacy are iffy. Voice over talent is not cheap. When you come back a year later with a new Diplomacy mechanic, you have to find the original voice actors for each of your stock races. Civ 5 ran into that with its full screen leaders. You have to figure out what a Drengin accent sounds like to a bunch of games that have their preconceptions, and repeat that impossibility for each faction. As pointed out above, it would be complicated in places
Just finished a session with > 50 turns. One crash. Auto save loaded quickly and we were back in business. Medium Galaxy, 4 AI opponents, Normal.
Anyone not upgrading to Crusade is shortchanging themselves. It doesn't matter how much effort you spend in supporting the base game. Crusade is just that much better. that much an improvement over something already good. This is all very easy to say as a Founder, but it is still true.
I have not seen all of these behaviors yet, but I can confirm they are all consistent with a pattern of the AI not doing things it seems smart enough to know to do. I am still working at Normal, and may step up to Gifted. We'll see what happens. But preliminary indications are that these are issues deep in the AI and its web of priorities. That is also a sign that other portions of the AI are getting clean enough to reveal long term trends. To my understanding, t
by the way, Erischild, the game spells it CapitAl. That's the only reason I followed suit.
Just double checked. Capital is the place. Capitol is the building at the place. I have learned (or learned, forgotten and re-learned) something today. It wasn't a total waste. Thanks!
