## The upcoming expansion ## The big expansion people have been waiting for is about 75% done now. It will be handled as a DLC mainly because people threw a fit when we made the Ashes of the Singularity expansion a stand-alone and we don't want to go through that again. So we'll figure out some way to take what is, essentially, a new game and make it DLC. Broadly speaking: - Espionage - Interactiv

Thx for the comment :) I see to get those out before new year.
It would be cool to have an option to could switch off Merc functionality but retain Arceans, Torians plus the extra ship parts for sandbox games.
Seems to be that way. Like I don't encounter issues with income until very later down the line in most 4x but I seem to encounter it here a lot earlier. I will try and play a game and stick with it and see how it goes. I had been watching a few videos here and there about tips on how to manage stuff and it gets tricky as you move along.
I played GC2 for long and would say I became a routined player.
I'm working on a small update having some more leader gfx. Still need time to complete, but here's a preview pic: http://imgur.com/a/cXwJl
Before I returned couple weeks ago the last time I played GC3 more intensely was last winter - and despite some issues I think it's indeed a much better and fun game now. Kudos to everyone involved :)
There seems to be a further update, at least Steam is dl-ing something right now for me (already had the Dec5 one) :) edit: ahh - seen the info in the 1.9 mega patch thread
Thanks a bunch for your answers. As for 3) -- I have no pic of it right now, but will make one indeed when I see it next. Could be similar names indeed...
I own the game since beta, but don't play much. It's simply lack of time. For the same reason I hardly watch dev streams and sometimes don't visit the forum for months. So in many aspects I'm still a newbie. Could someone do me a favour an tell me: 1. What are the yellow exclamation marks next to ships in the ship designer about? 2. When negotiating with others some techs have a little yellow/golden star nearby. What does i
I think tech specializations was one of the more "original" ideas that GCIII had over the previous games. I like it. You can't have it all in life. The different specializations are different strategies. This is STRATAGY GAME. I don't know why this is such an issue. And yes I have used different mods to play around it on occasion. With the recent 190er version I get sometimes little gfx oddities: In the diplo screen the selected planet displays as wrong civ in the top right corner. Pls. see pic linked to below - selected planet shows as Krynn, but the civ displayed is Torian (also worked vice versa when I klicked the "Torian" planet) http://imgur.com/a/Z83hR
From the bits I've played so far I do agree with those saying that influence changes appear too heavy - though in general I do like that it does take more effort to increase influence. Research on normal also a bit too fast, but to me it's kinda secondary as I could always set research rates slower.
Unfortunately I still run into the same prob with opt-in v190. It has become a major source of frustration for me, since it occured in every game I launched since I returned to play GC3 with v1.83 a short while ago. I gave up ever single one of these games before turn 160 since at this point it happens in rather short intervals, making it painful to continue. The point at which it does happen first in a game varies wildly though (sometimes I had it first after
edit: Played shortly with the recent update - re the colonizer trait: it is working for me, but first improvement are not displaying as "rushed". They are finished next turn indeed tho.
Quoting GalCivius, reply 1 Thanks for the patch - but the first try to run 1.9 resulted in a crash on startup. Never happened before to me. It offered to submit a crash dump file which I did. Edit: happened on further tries aswell, but could be it&#
OK, set my virus scanner to ignore the files causing the alert, but the game still refuses to start. I do see the launch pic, but never make it to the main menu. I have to wait for the "official" patch it seems.
Thanks for the patch - but the first try to run 1.9 resulted in a crash on startup. Never happened before to me. It offered to submit a crash dump file which I did. Edit: happened on further tries aswell, but could be it's related to a (hopefully false) AVG virus alert - need a bit to check this.
Why cheaper? Large hull cost increased from 128 to 300 Huge hull cost increased from 432 to 500
I want to play 1.9 hopefully without the nasty "stuck" problem. Plus a six pack of free beer for every DLC I bought. Alternatively I take more free patches too...
Sigh, I started two more games under 1.83, mods deactivated. In both cases the early stages went without any probs, but ca. between turn 50 and 100 the "stuck" appeared the first time. I tried to get a round it by reloading an earlier autorsave, which helped initially. But when I progress more into the game, the problem starts to appear more often again, which really detroys the fun when it goes so far that it comes up regularly every couple turns
Hm, I did now run the support tool and wanted to submit a ticket, yet somehow I never get it through - after filling in ticket details, attaching files etc. the ticket page tries to "connect" for long (busy cursor on Firefox tab ca. 10mins) then tells me the captcha is wrong. I might have entered not correctly, but this happened now several times so I'm rather unsure what to do - after the 1st time it happened I looked extra carefully to get it rig
I thought 1st it's related to autosave, since it comes up regularly. However, turning off autosaving has no effect. I did also read through the troubleshooting page here: https://esupport.stardock.com/index.php?/default_import/Knowledgebase/Article/View/496/161/general-galactic-civilizations-iii-troubl
Ok, I read about the stuck on "wait" prob here https://forums.galciv3.com/478894 I had it one or two times before myself, but since it was not too serious and got reported already I did not want to start another thread. However, I played ca. 150 turns in my recent game and I get this problem now every ca. 5 turns. The game does not crash, I can access all screens/menus/functions, it just does not pro
The two things I'm waiting for mostly now is the ability to change faction/ship colors and an easier way to do custom ship styles, both would be cool in a similar way like it was doable in the last incarnations of GC2. I know some of it is possible with modding right now, but the color stuff seems rather limited, and the method described in the modding forum for making a custom ship style is rather uncomfortable/error prone IMO so far. As much as I like the
Just updated recently to Win 10, I do also run a trial for SD's WindowBlinds and launched GCIII today the first time with those. After the loading screen I got a message saying something about my gfx card drivers being too old, which in itself is strange, and never happned before under Win 7. However, even more confusing was that the msg said - if I understood it correctly - drivers should be at least from 2013, then ended with a line like "your driver is from
