Hehe, people give honest feedback now. On a more serious note - I have to agree with Seilore here - the whole point of making sequels is that players did enjoy the original game and want more of it. Sure, with new features, additions and enhancements, but in essence still similar. Of course, if people feel there should be more new or more different stuff in GCIII, that's certainly always debatable. Personally I'm looking forward to having carrie

Consider different memories you have of those games can you remember the parts that made you enjoy that game the most?
I skip the other 2 questions since I don't remember turn numbers of past games played, and in case of diplomacy what comes to my mind f
I'm too late for x-mas/holiday, but Happy New Year everyone. Can only be happy indeed with the great release of GC III of course :)
Personally I'm not in favor of enabling starbase movement. When it's too slow most people will hardly use the feature or start complaining that it's too slow to be useful. Like with terrorstars in GC 2. In general it would blur the distinction between ships and starbases, which I think is an important aspect of the game.
O yeah, I absolutely agree that rearranging the queue can be a pain. Re the rally point issue, I would like it better indeed when espionage/diplomacy or similar efforts reveal those. A little visual prob I had with rally pts.: the anim over it sometimes also seems to "hide" an enemy ship present there, at least with zoomed out map view. Wondered why my fleet could not pass this hex - after zooming in turned out there was another ship
Yeah, had another case recently. Actually, when you know what's going on it's not really a serious prob, but still I think it would be better to have the ship's icon visible. Maybe slightly shadowed in a nebula or semi-transparent. However, had some time to play 0.61, still feel a bit overwhelmed, but love it already. Played ca. 200 turns as Earthlings, so a few more points: 1. Ship Designer Saving as template does not work for
Got the game ca. 2 weeks ago, want to give a bit feedback too. So far it's limited to certain aspects, mostly handling/interface since I have not played soooo much yet due to lack of time. Also, I guess I don't have figured out everything so some "issues" might just easily go away once I get a better hang on this :) But here we go. 1. General Impressions Everthing looks way more shiny than in GC2, which is great. No stability issues so far, not e
I used it to get GC III, which I had planned for a while, but I needed a better system first. Now that I upgraded this offer came just right for me :)
Thx a bunch, that worked :)
Ok, is there some sort of improvised helpfile or early manual I could read to figure out new things? I played GC II a lot, but would like to have a better understanding of GC III stuff. For example right now in the ship designer I can zoom or drag the ship around by mouse easily. But turning the whole ship to another angle does not seem to work. I'm watching the "walkthrough" stream in the back, and there it seems to be done just by mouse. Yet
I see, didn't realize that in fact it is the end turn btn down there. Thx :)
...actually get the game to progress to the next turn? Took advantage of the Stardock -50 % sale, dl & installation went well, game starts fine. But I'm not sure how to end a turn and move ships beyond the 1st time. Options > Input indicate "Enter" is for a new turn? Is there something else I need to do? My ships followed the first move order just fine, advanced a couple of hexes and stopped (expectedly). Just that the game does not appear to start th
OK, thx for the reply :)
I'm planning to take the 50% deal this week too - so I understand getting from Stardock is basically leading to a Steam-based installation? Or separate? Just wondering about future updates patches, addons or so, whether everything is identical...
Nice info on starbases. I hoped for unique and customizable starbase designs for individual races, now learning this is in the game indeed. Thx! :)
FBX export is certainly a nice feature for anyone familiar with 3d modelling. Good news for me :) ( Ericridge: you need a 3d modelling software that can handle the FBX format. Professional Autodesk stuff like 3ds MAX will work, but it's very expensive. There are alternatives tho...) edit: no idea why this line appears as hyperlink...
I didn't know that, thanks. Hopefully there's a similar way for GC III.
It's great that many games come in localized versions these days. However, there can be several problems with those: 1. Without wanting to bash anyone, some localisations are simply bad. Doesn't have to be the case with GC3, but... 2. Even when it's not bad, with multiple patches, addons and whatnot the potential for messing something up in the process rises. IIRC in some cases (non-Stardock games) the main game was localized, while some of the additional content w
I've been playing Star dock's titles for some years now. I first started with SoSE and Demigod, and later moved to Elemental: Fallen Enchantress and Legendary Heroes. I've tried only one other space 4x Game and that is Endless space. I felt that the game felt rigid, traveling using space lanes in endless space felt really awkward in the sense there was no way to intercept ships without staying in orbit around a planet. Pirates felt hor
Thx for the update. Nice x-mas Yor. I'm wondering if those leaders do appear like in GalCiv II, so as pre-rendered videos or if these are 3d models rendered in real time by the engine? Just curious if that's moddable :) Though for now I just hope my old machine will be able to run the game...
About the pic, the entire look is really well made, but she looks a bit too much fantasy over scifi to me (esp. the crown-like thingy on her head). Just my 2 cents of course...
A visual thing: in GC 2 after you designed nice ships for everyone you found that the AI had the annoying habit to place weapons, engines, defenses and other upgrades in rather absurd spots and sizes, which often resulted in very strange looking AI ships. Maybe there could be something done to mitigate this prob, for example a size limit for those upgrades or the option to turn them to invisible. I'm not really sure if that's the best solution, but maybe someone has a better i
Wow, didn't visit for some time, now realized there will be GC 3! Some things I would like to see improved compared to #2: 1. Personally I disliked some events that suddenly gave everyone max. sensors or max. speed. IMO that rather spoiled the fun of investing into a certain area to get ahead. If these are kept please make it possible to turn them off or edit them out easily (I tried to, but couldn't find them in files where "normal" events were stored). Dito maybe for
