So I do this in my games as I had the same thing happen. You NEED to build offensive/defensive ships. On turn one you can build the defender or whatever its called. It is a tiny missile boat that has 1 attack and no defense. You need to 'rotate' in one of these every other ship from your yards. They add up and will keep your military power level high enough to delay the ai from DoW'ing you. I play on Insane/Ludicrous maps with 'rare' planet habitability so I tend to get a good 4

I am a hound dog lover. I have hounds all my life and have been sick for lack of one. My basset which I will soon bring into my home will be named 'Angus Hadrian IV' >>> ! Yes I agree with you. My daughter and sons are my love, but the devotion you get from being greeted at the door by your dog is simply amazing!
Ok well there are many good monitors that are 30-32" that are 60hz. I do not need a competitive monitor. So lets see what is up that is NOT G sync, not 144hz but around that size. @Jafo > my current monitor is an AOC 27" 1080P. As an extremely old person (50), my tired decrepit eyes were thinking bigger was better. No seriously, I have astigmatism and need glasses/contacts to see 'small fonts' and stuff. I honestly wanted a bit more real estate on my monit
What I would like but cannot seem to find. 30 or 32" Not CURVED...No curve.none! 144hz 1440p resolution Gsync speakers >> ideally it would not have any. I was going to u
These are all great ideas. I love the food trading option. In addition to regular currency, why not food? This is unlikely to be of any value until mid game where the player is going to have a surplus of food.
Great changes. Thank you Stardock! Jon >> you need to start a new game for that to work. The bug is 'baked' into your game.
Frog, are you arbitrarily going to cap city population? I only build a single city on planets anyway so it really does not affect me but will cities be 'upgradeable' so you can grow past the one population increase?
What race are you trying to play Forester?
Personally I would like to see Pirates raised to a place between Minors and Majors. I think we are missing out on what you can do with them. Able to send and use Pirates as a tool to disrupt/hinder the ai. Use the threat of using the ai in diplomacy and doing so you take a hit in diplomo with 'good' species. Trading with Pirates to take specific actions that have tangible effects such as Disrupt trade routes Disrupt and lower food
Nice mod H. You always have great mods. Thank you !
Feed those ungrateful bastards into the Death Furnaces! Ya'll clamoring for Socialist health policies? Yes ..yes we have them... step into this chamber with no exits or windows. Yes, just a moment please... There Trims, your awesome Population 10 planet is now 'Trims'd down to a manageable and happier (if they know whats good for them) population of 3!! Because good is dumb................
Do not build cities. Done, fixed. If you dont build cities and leave the population at the game start cap, its easy to keep all happy with an Intimidation center+entertainment center. The crushing reduction to happiness begins after you exceed that initial population limit. Suddenly you can have teeming planets and huge production but you also get immediate happiness issues. I rarely build cities for that reason and when I do I always put in a stadium+intimidation center and then maybe the ne
[quote who="trims2u" reply="11" id="3690433"] So far, pretty much everything has turned out well. A couple of minor things/wishes for improvements (in Crusade): 1. As Rhonin said, Diplomatic Corps should be 1-per-Player. 2. The AntiMatter Power Plant should likewise be 1-per-Player, but it needs downrated a bit. Maybe +3 instead of +5 for adjacency bonuses and give a +1 to Raw Production. 3. Bring back the Thulium Data Archive, Durantium
Ooo very nice changes. Again Ill update, validate and fire a new game!
I will caveat the above with the fact my galaxy settings are not like others. I want space to feel vast and dead like it really is. Thus I run Ludicrous with rare/rare on hab/habextreme and even go in and reduce the total number of hab planets on that map from 650 DOWN to 480. Thus the need to rush out and find hab planets before others get them and the journey can take a bit searching for them. On ludicrous with 30 ai I will end up with about 30-50 planets per empire. I am also playing on ge
I always rush buy both a shipyard and my first colony ship which I design called 'cheap' which is a hull+module, for about 150cr. I will promote scientist to rush techs like plasma or Huge hulls. I will promote generals for the extra troops. I always put an entrepreneur on my banking planets to boost income. I never get engineers or workers. I do get spies and now we get a free diplomat...yay! I have never needed an
I will call upon Frog to answer this question about Ryzen. It was my understanding that Ai is each given its own thread to process its 'thinking' up to the number of cores your system can give. Thus in theory an I9 with 20 threads 'should' process ai thinking faster (better turn times?) then my current I5 with only 4 threads. Also if this applies to Ryzen then Gal Civ III should really really rock on Ryzen. I would like to hear from Frog and his observations or tests he has made
Ok in Crusade in order to build a starbase or colony ship or survey ship you need an administrator. Now on a Ludicrous map I think you get 6 or 9 to start with. I mod it to 48. This means I can have any combination of Colony ships, Constructors or Survey ships up to 48. Once I use up all my 'free' pool I need to either get a citizen as an admin or research government or culture tech lines to get 'more admins'. If you look at the tech lines the tech that un
1600+ hours here. I love this game. In fact I am an ardent supporter of Stardock on the principle that it is not a huge behemoth of corporate bureaucracy. I love the fact that Frog can stroll into his office and actively engage his developers, artists and do a 'hands on' approach. Turn Based will always have a place. We as players need to show our 'friends' the game and let "word of mouth" spread that way. My first introduction to 4x was at a friends playing
This is just personal preference. I would love to have the Auto upgrade of buildings be 'off' by default. I know a few of us were wondering were all the durantium went after researching a better factory. I am part of the old school, let me micro each planet crowd. Can we at least put a setting in 'setup' to have auto upgrade all planets (on or off) at game creation? Happy Friday!
Brad had stated that he did not care for the wheel. I doubt it will return. It was far too easy to cheese production and rubber band back to economy or science. Good riddance.
There is a great deal of progress being made. Your worries are unfounded. =)
I'd like to see the Ai go after the protected anomalies a bit more. They never do thus end game I am spiraling in power leaving them behind. That would go a bit in getting the ai to be 'beefier' as we approach mid to late game.
I think this thread is kinda funny. For YEARS folks have been asking for a mini invasion game and here is a thread calling for its removal.
Those uneven trades are normal. The ai is angry with you in them thus the trades are overvalued and will never give you a good deal. I get very good trades when the ai's friendliness is on the other end of the bar. The game has come a long way since release.
