Admiral, I will likely have 32 gigs of DDR4 Quad channel and an M.2 SSD like the Samsung 860.

Ah ..bandwidth... ok, I get it. Thanks both of you. Quad it is.
In my ongoing research the newer mother boards for Broadwell are DDR4 (quad channel) while Skylake is dual channel. Is there any advantage of one over the other? I understand they have to be purchased or installed in pairs...Quad channel ram of 16gig would be 4 sticks of 4 gig while dual channel would be 2 sticks of 8. I also have my eye on these coming up late next year... <a href="http://wccftech.com/intel-skylake-x-
Gal Civ III is a true 4x game. I only play on the very largest maps and at least 15 majors and all minors for a total of 70+ ai in game. All games start off SLOW and will take about 100 turns to build up to the point where you are constantly moving around the map. Gal Civ III is NOT a tactical game. You do not get to place your ships or dictate how they attack. You can build fleets and arrange them into a more min/max way to ensure they do well in battles. Yes the
I would like a mod that restores Insane maps back to pre 1.83 sizes. If there are a few ini edits I can just do it directly do the gameplay files if someone can tell me what to do and where.
Thank you for the update. I was going to fire up a game tonight after I got home. Thank you Stardock, your hard work is appreciated.
I think the entire invasion mechanic will be changed with the launch of Crusade in Spring. Ideally Costs of all invasions would be both population and defense/resistance dependent.
General, I would like to know how to mod the insane map back to its 'larger' state. In fact if its a memory issue I say leave it the way it was but put a disclaimer that you need 16gigs or more of ram or stability issues may arise.
Pshaw, thanks for the update. The (false positive on culture) was the bug causing everyone to think you were culture flipping them correct?
All Elite Founders will get all content for free..period.

Greetings Stardockians! So I am narrowing down my components for next year. Most of the community here is amazing for their suggestions and help. I typically shop on Newegg. I am in the US. I am now leaning back to the Broadwells. 6800K I7, 6 cores/12 threads. I will only have 1 video card so having 28 PCIe lanes is fine I may add another card but not for a while. Motherboard.... Asrok Taichi X99 LGA 2011 v3 >> I am not 100% tied to this but
On the subject of Micro. All 4x games are micro to some degree or another. Even Distant Worlds with all the switches which allow for near total automation does require you to 'direct fleets' and at times tell where scouts should go. Personally I think the micro is the life blood of 4x games and some of it is 'ok'. I would never let a governor develop my planets but that is just me. Starbases ideally should be set with pins on the map
Will Paul be there?
There are some idealogy which gives you 100% production to shipyards as well as some planetary colonization events that also grant 100% shipyard production. That could be the reason but we have no log which keeps track of events or where they happened.
Building placement for the ai may be harder to code then we think. Personally I would like the ai to respond to enemy fleets better. I dislike using GCII as a reference but Brad did a damn good job with it so here it is. I had a game in GCII where the Yor got the event which allowed it to snowball in strength. I am do not remember it I think it was called precursor relic on one of its planets. This event gave that particular ai a bonus to
[quote who="Sycloness" reply="12" id="3660089"] I like all the changes that are being made to the game. I really want to play but have not been able to bring myself to really play in a year. Main reason are Starbases or mainly upgrading them. Please all I want is a toggle button of the starbase screen for auto update. I just cannot bring myself click through all those starbases after I research an upgrade. On the maps I play it takes 5-10 minutes every time I get an upgrade. An
Your updates are amazing! Thank you! I am 280 turn into 1.9 but I did notice the diplomacy thing. I was going to go to war with Drengin but Ill restart a new game. Engine is much faster. Turn times are easily 50% faster if not more so. Ai is colonizing very well. It is going after high quality planets first THEN lower ones. At turn 200 on an insane map We were still in colony rush. I feel that the cost of 'upgrading' ships is too high. I also think this is something that hurts the ai. Using Civ VI as an example, the ai there did not upgrade due to costs or lack of resources (iron for swordsman). The cost was adjusted down and the resource requirement was lowered to needing just one. This allowed the ai in Civ VI to upgrade its units (most of the time). I am not sure if it would help here but it surely cannot hurt to lower the upgrade
WoW, this just keeps on getting better and better! The Capstone techs were DESPERATELY needed, Thank you!
Thank you both for the replies!
Budget is 1200 to 1600. I was reading an article that suggested the 7700K processors are not much (3.2%) faster than 6700 AND ran hotter. I will wait as you suggest. The build was going to go around January but I can wait.
Alas my durable 3570K is fine but the motherboard is starting to have issues. I had posted previously that I wanted to move over to Haswell and get a 6850K. However after doing a bit of research and also looking at the looming 7700K's about to hit I came to the conclusion that really for gaming and home use the 6700K (4cores, 8 threads). <span style="font-family: 'comic sans ms',
I love the factions on Nexus. The 'adult' factions for KRBMS are an absolute MUST for me. Nothing better than a sexy alien threatening me...(lol)
Damn, my computer is down for the count till I get my new ram from Gskill. Looks good Frogboy, I will say many thanks up front. Unfortunately I cannot even fire up my computer if I wanted to.
