. I do believe that Crusade has made the game what I wanted from the start and am quite happy with the DLC.
+1 to this comment for sure. Myself - I play because I like the chess-like play. It's turn-based, so it can be a thoughtful game, and there are lots of layers to the deeply complex strategies that are taking place. While I have to say that GC3 still

So I just thought I'd give my nuanced impression of the early crusade game as I've started and re-started enough games to feel like I have some input on early game decision tree constraints due, largely, to balance and snowball issues. I'll just say to start that, this is from the perspective that the overriding imperative early game is to "get ahead" and start snowballing ASAP. Turn 1: There is absolutely no reason whatsoever to not rush a shipyard and immediately sta
Well that sounds cool. Now someone needs to release a tech tree chart with all the techs related to traits and abilities. Going to take me forever to figure out my new race. I can see Brad smiling now. Guess the AI can kill me now I have no idea how to play the game again. This is the fun part too.
It really makes a lot more sense, since the weight of race propensities will be player-generated rathe
Well I finally managed to fix it. My Avast AV was blocking some files from installing. I paused it for an hour and did a steam file integrity test. There were 3 missing files which were found and fixed. When I started the game, there were my four missing factions right where they belonged
Not to hijack the thread, but I've been using Kaspersky for years now and have never had a problem with it - they
If you disable the "continue making this design" for the Treasure Hunt on both your shipyards, you can avoid the crash until we post a fix. Thanks for the report.
Ah, that's what you were getting at. Good to know, thanks. I'll stop posting the same bug then ;p On a related note, the Ying-Yang "continue producing this design" button on the shipyard window disappea
Hey there, Another Crusade reproducible crash. You should be able to just hit the 'turn' button to trigger it, it's 100% reproducible on my end. (this is a different game from the one that I posted earlier in the wrong section) https://www.dropbox.com/s/3ve00wwp2b8tdty/Orange%20Peanut%20Butter%20crash.GC3Crusade?dl=0 Have to say, really like the changes made.<
Also please post crusade-beta bugs to the founder's forums until we release. Thanks!
Ah, shit, didn't realize there was one I guess. Anyway, thanks for the response - feel free to just delete this thread if you've got the savegame file, I don't really need an update on it or anything.. cheers
https://www.dropbox.com/s/q9qijx2cw8c1q5j/double%20mullet%20chop.GC3Crusade?dl=0 Savegame above, if you hit the "turn" button, it will crash to desktop and is repeatable x3 on my end. Hope this helps, no need for a response to this post or anything - just patch it up in the next round of bug-fixes. I was looking to start a new game with a diff strat anyway. cheers, supe
tid242 -- I know your pain. I used to have a very slow internet connection and I know this one would have taken 30-40 minutes to download (at no more than 6 Mbps). I got ticked at Centurylink about it and switched to a cable connection (which I am still not happy with over their IMAP server) and their "at least 60 Mbps" speed got it down in about 3 minutes. Some phone companies just refuse to give those of us in the boonie
Awesome! I think most of us Founders would've liked to have seen this handled differently, but the level of vitriol from a few individuals was completely uncalled for. Hat's off to you Brad, thanks. Although I don't feel like I was doing too much crying, I'll try to cry moreso in the future. Glad I can play around with it a bit before being mostly gone for a month or so. thanks again.. Edit: 1.8GB it's too big, make it smaller!! [e digicons]:'([/e] [e digicons]:'([/e] [e digicons]:'([/e]
I always buy through SD, and yes, all you get is a Steam key. Interestingly, IIRC Steam and SD seem to run sales independently. That may be only on legacy apps, though. I'll pay more attention henceforth. What's a GOG? FWIW, I tried running galciv.exe and others when I was finally able to find the game folder hidden in the steam tree. But they don't run the game; they just call steam.
Buying the game from SD directly only gives you a Steam-key. GOG is the only non-Steam option available.
+1, and if Steam ever becomes evil all of a sudden, Stardock will still have your info and will pursue some alternative distribution for their accounts. If you notice, a lot of the more forward thinking companies are taking this approach, Obsidian, InXile, for example have both ke
Except you shouldn't actually use or install flash. This is a recurring theme from Brian Krebbs..
That said... Brad had originally told us that we founders would have a chance to play around Valentines day... I do wish a more public key release would have happened with the understanding that it was not finished. But I also understand that Steam does not do that very well... the moment you can download something it is viewed as full release and people can and DO comment and review.
Nah, I really only care about the sandbox, so I have no problem with this decision to drop the campaign. My only caveat to this is that having some sort of tutorial-type campaign would really be a boon to new players (although I myself would never use this feature). On a related note, this reminds me somewhat of the Rebellion iteration of Sins, whereby the factions splinter each driven by ideological pursuit and differences. It's difficult to do in a 4x game, where the mai
Thing is, with North Korea's illegal nuclear programme and its propensity to threaten countries and peace in the Pacific region, all international eyes are directed there for now. Hopefully it can be resolved peacefully, without bloodshed.
I like how the DPRK is such a nuclear threat, but Fukushima isn't even in the news... Anyway.. All of the crap coming out of Musk's mouth are old ideas that people somehow think are new. It's such a strange phenomenon... Although, it's not like I see a lot of other new ideas being generated in society, so maybe this shouldn't be all that surprising.. In Musk's defense though - at some level drumming up the layman's support for old ideas that have now become feasible due to technological or organizational factors (widespread adoption of solar power, for instance) i
non-faction overlap help in general is something that would be great to have get a little love. I've really been waiting for the 'create random faction' button that would randomly grab traits/dispositions/abilities along with generating a random ship design and color scheme, and also generate a random logos (maybe have logo templates that random color choices can be applied to), and random leader pics/animations (similar to logos?)
Not for Crusade, but this idea could maybe be on the menu. There've been quite a few requests for a Battle Arena type of Battle Viewer to go along with the Ship Designer off the main menu. Personally I don't really care about this, but it's crossed my mind that a "Battle Simulator" (in addition to the requested from the main menu) work its way into the main game. The way I would envision this would be that a player could attempt to simulate mock battles from within the S
Races no longer get a "tech tree". Instead, tech trees are procedurally generated based on the traits of your civilization. Modders should love this as they could just submit a bunch of new techs that have race trait requirements and they'll "just show up".
&
