I'm okay with the way it is, if that is the final design decision. It just means starports are much more vulnerable, uniquely so in GalCic 3 compared to previous iterations (and the Civs, actually), thus aggression gets more benefit than I anticipated.
It's a very common strategic exercise in today military. I find that this game is bringing it to the table. They mentioned that the shipyard will become less vunera

If the iridium colors are goldish and silver, why are their ships covered in purple? Given the pointy nature of Iridium ships are they using pieces from the Yor collective ships. Just curious if there will be a problem in ship visuals between the two races.

I would suspect that would be the file as I don't see any other. At the moment they could have it hard coded and so you cannot change the ship color scheme. If not, I'm not sure where else to look for ship color changes. Because Irridium ships are purple and highly silver, but on the map they are yellow in color. But I don't see their color scheme in there.
Just an idea for planets: instead of being a flat hex grid, it could appear as a 3D model (sphere with an hex grid imposed on it) that you would rotate to place your building on.
Mathematically it is impossible for a hex grid to have any curvature. So to impose a hex grid on a spherical planet would not be possible. The best you could do is a soccer ball arrangement, but that includes pentagons.

With all the stuff going on, I'm pretty excited to jump in right now. I had a slow computer when it was getting kickstarted and couldn't forsee getting a better one in the future (convincing the wife to drop a couple grand on a device that will absorb my time is a difficult task :) ) Now, that I've got a comp to handle it (and it handles it nicely. I'm enjoying looking at the expensive ships and saying... man can't wait till the game comes out. Be nice if they incl
Do you think you could try to post the next announcement for August 29, Friday's dev stream on Thursday please? I am gone during the time on Friday's when these posts are posted and I would like to ask a question.
Just ask it here right now. Then if someone remembers they can ask it for you next time.

Honestly I didn't even notice until you pointed it out. I just read it as Admiral Bob. You've got yourself a good front end design for ships. You can export your front end so you don't have to make it for each of your ships. Just select all the parts that make up the front end and export. It is rather easy and then you can scale that piece to fit other designs. I think the front end template would make great cargo and war ships for a great custom large fleet. Carry

I think that points to a very strategic question on the defender and aggressor. It looks like some good strategy thinking here. I'm not sure your missing any mechanic at the moment, but the aggressor does appear to have the defender in a bad way here. You have to choose and that makes this a great strategic moment. What object is more important to you, and how do you optimally defend everything. When given an aggressor and defender with equal number of units and the defend
the caveat of this rule is that hidden armor is always 100% effective. They talked about this in the dev stream they did today. So they might grant your wish when they play around with this stuff.
Then, another thing is the appearance of planets directly on the Galactic map. The problem is that it gives the map un ungalactic scale! After all, it looks like a star system is 3 hexes in radius. The Universe we play on is rather small!!! I am pretty sure there are other ways to reach one's planet from the top interface without placing the planets as they are now.
You wouldn't want to play a game that uses a g

What it sounds like here is something that a custom map maker can create for you. They did mention that they are going to implement a custom map maker. The idea of orbiting the planets has been addressed in a dev stream and they mentioned several difficulties with doing orbits in this game design. I forget which stream, otherwise I would post the link here. Overall, the general idea you are asking for is the option to have less solar systems and make the current ones in game l

Glimroy, You can factor a quintic polynomial. What is not possible is to factor a general quintic polynomial with a finite number of algebraic manipulations. But it is possible to factor every non-constant complex polynomial into n complex roots. Other than that, this is some good info. I like all the little diagrams in the pictures.

In the last dev stream Paul mentioned that he couldn't believe he let beta 1 ship without the idle for the shipyard. They have that one fixed up. I do prefer that I get to end turn when I want to whether I have things to do or not. (Especially when it comes to multiplayer, some of my great wins in Monopoly is because somebody ended their turn before they collected my rent :) ) The fighter attacking the shipyards, they have added some defense to these shipyards to help prev
