Very much looking forward to giving this a go. Think the game is going to become a lot more 'fun' to actually play with a slightly more robust AI (or at lest one that does something ) and the galaxy options. Many thanks to all the dev team [e digicons]^_^[/e]

Sadly keep missing these due to work. Always watch the catch up afterwards though.
There is no announced / set date yet. From what has been shown and discussed on the live-streams I think it is looking like it will be soon though. Taking an educated (possibly wrong) guess I am thinking the next alpha update will be this week (possibly tomorrow as I believe SD patch on Thursdays) or next.
One thing I intesely dislike is the fog of war, it needs a visual overhaul. I know, small, piddly little thing, but you see so much of it, it needs to look passable.
I agree...the current grey fog of war is pretty horrible/boring visually. I agree with the points mentioned by brad about the lighting and color overall (stuff like the mini-map), the game could do with lightenin
Sadly missed this when live. Great stream though...I think this demonstrates the biggest leap in progress (at least to people out of Stardock) so far. The gizmo's on the design screen are fantastic, huge improvement on the usability of designing ships, also love the option to create new exported parts. Overall polish on the visuals are also very nice, like the 'grid' background in the ship designer. The new planets and their corresponding screen changes are also great.
I think this is probably for the best, I completely agree that more of the basic mechanics should be in before a wider audience hits the beta, thanks for letting us know. Looking forward to future updates.
Very much interested in this but totally agree that I need to see more before I would put down any money. Seems from the Dev blog that there will be some streams in a few weeks. Looking forward to seeing more.
Regarding the schedule from a while back... think they are running a bit behind at the moment. From stuff mentioned in the founders vault I get the impression the beta will not be until at least June. As for your other points...pretty much none of the stuff you mentioned is in yet, a 'limited feature' version of the ship designer was just added. At the moment there is no combat, diplomacy, spies, or real AI and the tech and ideology is getting reworked along wit
So if I start a brand new game, go straight into the shipyard and press enter to end turn while on the very first shipyard screen the game goes to the spinning galaxy loading screen and then eventually crashes 100% of the time. Thought this might be one you would want to know about. I apologize if this has already been reported elsewhere but I had a quick look and couldn't see anything obvious. I can provide some crash dumps etc. if the devs require it.
Congrats on the cube, it looks awesome. Borg Sphere next? [e digicons]^_^[/e]
I personally think with the ships it is perhaps best to wait until we see the equivalent of the Combat Viewer in the new game...as far as I know we have next to no idea how combat will be handled visually. I also think what is there is pretty good so far for the part it plays. I am somewhat inclined to agree with you on the planets though, the idea of 3D models has been mentioned before with a mixed response here but I think I understand w
I spent all day playing this game MP: I don't want people who are going to sweat graphics on a game that won't be out for 2 years playing this. Most addictive game I've played since I was in college (final game won't even remotely resemble this so this isn't even giving anything away). And this game is so addictive we've had to issue a "work hours" ban on playing it.
<
^^ Thanks a lot, was at work for this one.
Very interesting read...loving the hand drawn UI parts [e digicons]^_^[/e] Totally agree with Brad about the importance of a 'readable' UI. Games like Civ V and even Paradox GS games have brought the accessibility of the UI on a long way in the last few years, even this early I think Brad is right the stress the importance of an accessible, clean interface that still offers all the options you would need. Also fully agree with the f
This is awesome [e digicons][/e] Can't wait for release to give it a try. Many thanks Stardock devs.
Galactic Civilizations III: Cthulhu In Space? Thanks for posting this.
[e digicons]X([/e] Thanks for letting us know. Totally agree with econundrum that something like a screen shot or mock-up in the founders vault would be great to discuss, will soon be a month since it last had an update.
Really looking forward to seeing this and how it is currently implemented in the game. I hope they give an update on when the next Alpha will be available. I asked during the last stream and the answer was still April but that obviously changed (perfectly understandable). Just a few hours to go :D
I like it and think it is really interesting idea but agree that usability/readability would perhaps be compromised. I do like the idea of planetary improvements having more of an impact on the visuals of that planet in the galactic map though...It is something that Sins and Endless Space did (to some extent) and I have always really liked it.
Super excited to see the ship designer...really hoping to hear some news about the next alpha update (whatever it may be) soon as well.
Thanks for the stream guys.
Feel free to delete my thread. Even though it was posted first *cough* [e digicons];)[/e] Looking forward to giving it a listen.
Couldn't see that this had been posted anywhere yet. Three Moves Ahead have released a podcast about Gal Civ III interviewing Paul Boyer. https://www.idlethumbs.net/3ma/episodes/the-days-of-yor Have yet to give it a listen but will hopefully prove interesting.
Take a look if you haven't already. Hope it is ok to post some impressions, obviously not going to repost the image here... I am really liking the improvements to the planet interface, it looks a lot cleaner and the build-able hexes are significantly more distinct. Also like how the clear production/wealth/research menu is and the sharpness of the terrain map along with a proper separated queue (and separate cancel [e digicons]|-)[/e] ). The
