Watching any of the dev stream will demonstrate the combat system by allowing you to see it first hand. I would suggest that, but if you want my opinion. Its shaping up pretty damn good!

The option to bypass idle ships automatically is what I take from that. I suppose that could be useful. I wouldn't personally be worried about the option myself, but I do understand a bit better.

AI is a work in progress. One I would personally love to hear more about in a dev stream, though I don't think Paul is directly involved in that process. I've had similar experiences but I know that changes are already planned due to what Paul has mentioned in past dev streams. For now I just abuse the power of the chair and dictate laws as I see fit. ;)

While giving all the races a custom (person, bot, thing) will be a nice touch, and something I think they already intend to do, I don't think it's core to what they are focused on right now. They appear to be working more on adding features and fixing stability. Which I for one am all for. This is more of a late term project as it does not directly add any mechanics and is primarily just an addition of artwork. To sum up. I think they will do customs for each, I think it will be a gre

I would say that possibly upgrading your memory will help. They have done some impressive pass overs to reduce memory usage but 8 gigs on insane, well I wouldnt probably have even tried to load it myself. That being said, I would try Publius'es suggestion. It may help some but inasne is as the name would suggest ;)

Set the ships to guard or sentry. The mechanics are already in the game to prevent this issue. Guard will have them stay in a location defending it, while ships set to sentry will become "active" on your turn if someone elses ship(s) enter your sensors range. These are in the command menu in the bottom left. I hope this helps.

Pumped by the newest hotfix release, a group of us determined to play multiplayer attempted to start a game. It took quite a while for us to come to this conclusion and a grand amount of attempts to determine. It appears that we cannot get the game to support more then 2 players at this time. During loading of each attempt peers were disconnected at or before the start of turn 1. We attempted to remove one player thinking there may be some sort of port issue with multiple users accessin

I like the current system to be honest. If you choose to hold off then you can yield a better planet possibly, but if you wait you also don't use tiles for a while.. so long term is it worth not having reaped the rewards along the way? I personally have done both depending on how my needs were being met.
ha, maybe. but it still doesn't make sense that i can build farmland in canada, which is mostly icy wasteland. or three whole hexagons in africa
Global warming is real! But seriously it is random and we are all supposed to take some imaginative liberties about how the planets climate changes along with tech that could change how we use lands. Static tiles would make me sad. I don't en

A populated planet would be a rather huge advantage I would think. Though I do agree they should be in close proximity to your homeworld or at least in a system that you do already have a planet colonized. To be honest, I must be lucky because it has always appeared near one of my star systems. I typically have recieved 8's which is fine, it's better they keep some level of randomness to me then be bland always. Just my 2 cents.

I have observed an increase in the pace of ideology as well. I haven't looked to see if if it was a bug and they weren't being deducted. I have also in a few games encountered "locked" ideology trees. Occurring as early as the first investment in another.

Frogboy, that information is amazing, and I'm looking forward to it. Your ship... I would have to declare war on you and abolish such creations as they are a scar on my other wise pretty galaxies ;) I have the artistic talent of a newt though so I probably can't do better, but thank the gods Stardock has saved me from that blight by offering some amazing models already in the game.

Balancing issues. They are still trying to give proper weight to many of the techs as well as ships and resources. I would imagine that when they declared war early on they were more powerful or at least close in power to yourself. 40 turns later you were likely more powerful and they were probably more willing to pay you off then fight you. Why they declared war can have more to do with diplomacy then just close borders. Ideology, disposition, your relations in comparison to others they like

If you are offered a trade and don't see your side as giving anything click the back button. I have also experienced invasions both giving and taking. Frogboy is correct. If you are invaded it reads as if your the invader. When you invade it also reads as your the invader.. which is correct in that case ;)

Loving the update and having sunk about 10 hours into it today, I have 1 looming request. Stability is horrible at this point. I cannot even count the number of times I've had to restart the game today. Right about now I would be finishing the Drengin for the 5th time if the game would keep running. I'm very happy with the game and all the progress made. There just needs to be a time out on adding to it and working on stability. Thank you all for the progress that has been completed.
Hopefully this will get people off of Paul's back for a while.
While he well deserves such a break, I say not! I think the Drengin have nailed it with the whole slavery thing and he appears to be in good health. I think we have years of forced labor left in him. Anyone who disagrees should report to the nearest intimidation center immediately! The 1 turn overflow debate to me re

I would imagine not. With any beta thats almost a certain issue since there are typically fundamental changes to the game core. I would argue that starting over will yield you much more fun then continuing a save from beta 4 but lets face it. Beta 4 was amazing. What I can say tell you is that your beta 5 game will produce even more entertainment for you in into the future. Your not alone in losing your beta 4 save though personally while I was dominating my latest beta 4 game, I was glad to

1st Woot woot to the Beta 5! Love it! That being said it is a beta and it does have some troubles. which I will just report on this thread Bug report: Crashes... alot sadly. Which is to be expected. I would give a report on conditions but there doesn't appear to be any common noticeable factor to me after several hours of playing. Multiplayer - custom factions made by a joining player were not present on his computer after a crash and restart
