Got 1.6, not Mercenaries. Files are all valid. Edit later: Re-installed GalCiv3. Still cannot see Mercenaries or access the 2 new races.
Tomorroq
FOOL! You've just given frogboy and Stardock another out to go with the "GalCov" thing: Tomorroq will never happen! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Beta Launch: NZT Saturday 6/2/16 7AM, EST Friday 5/2/16 1PM First major complaint thread start: NZT Saturday 6/2/16 7:05AM, EST Friday 5/2/16 1:05AM
Anything to get you out of the queue that's in front of me! Nothing personal of course....
And so the GalCiv3 Forummers were caught in the Desert of Soon, where they would climb one sand dune of Soon only to find another. And another. And another. And.... They would spend their remaining time on this Earth travelling through an endless, limitness, mind-destroying number of Soons, broken only be the occassional Next Week stonefield that would lead them straight back to a Soon sand dune.
I've just found a little thing that I think could be changed. I started up GalCiv3 because, heck, it's Tuesday in NZ, that qualifies as "early next week", so where's me update??! Still on v1.5, which is fine. So I exit: And get told "You're so close", when I hadn't even started a game! Maybe make the questions more turn-dependant: "Too scared to even start a game?" etc
BuckGodot, I would suggest the implementation will be that once you purchase a mercenary from the bazaar, you're able to place them where you want them - same as improvements/buildings on planets. Why would you pay a certain amount of bc for a mercenary (who you've hired for a certain job) just to have him/her/it randomly appear somewhere on the map? Especially when that random spot is a fair bit away from the job he/she/it has been hired to do? Unless the mechan
Like Jedistinger, I was hoping for Espionage now rather than later but: Mercenaries! Frogboy was right: A new feature that makes sense and could end up being awesome. No, that wasn't me, that was someone else who killed your leader. No, it wasn't that evil looking guy I just gave 250bc to. I, uh, owed him money for some scum he kill...um work he did on my garden. Why would you think that? I know the description doesn't say they can be used like this but hopefully
Well, there was discussion some time back about how it didn't seem right that other races would show you everything they've got on the Diplomacy screen - which, ally, nuetral or enemy, they were doing. What's your standing with the races? I would guess this is a bug as Stardock haven't said they've altered the diplomacy screen and that what other races will show you is dependant on what their relationship with your race is like.
Also, in this phase your enemies/nuetrals really put on the fancy dinner dates for your allies: "Look, I know he's your friend today, but he's going to break that alliance treaty any time now!" This means your allies may suddenly start going "Um, buddy, I'm getting nervous. Give me some stuff to calm my nerves or I'm afraid I'll have to terminate our arragement." So diplomacy gets very messy...
Yes, in hindsight giving Founders the right to name stars wasn't the best idea, or at least a "no that's too stupid" pass should have been made before names were approved. Says he who named his Star Wishupona... Which, in my defence, I chose because I figured the Drengin, etc wouldn't know the reference so would think "Cool name" not "Duh, named after a line in a nursery rhyme!" No alcohol involved in that decision! I'd say stevezar is right, all playe
Is there any more annoying word used on these Forums than "Soon"? When, I humbly ask thee? Looking forward to it.
JJ was screwed whichever story line he came up with. I absolutely wouldn't want to direct any Star Wars/Star Trek movie because of the fandom and whatever the quality of the plot, the reaction from some would be: "No, you moron film director, Star Destroyers didn't have that hindmost turret on the left side until 34BY so like 600BY after the goddamn movie! And what's with calling people Darth? That didn't happen until 142BY when Count Dooku's Gra
The movie was a bit too "Star Wars: A New Hope For A New Generation" and I agree with the idea that if the Empire was defeated at Endor, isn't the Resistance now the Republic/Government? Of course, there's been 30 years gone by so probably a hand wave or two going on or things will be explained in the next film. Bearing in mind Lucasfilm said anything in the SWEU isn't regarded by them as machine gun (or is it cannon?), they could simply write in that, yes, the Emp
I like pootthedestroyer's ideas, which if I've read him correctly, mean that if you're a Diplomatic player, you got skills!! Skills that even people who might not like you much if at all need you alive for, so they won't go "Look at that namby-pamby with the lousy military, let's murderize his ass!" Your diplomacy skills give you a standing that means that other races may listen to you and do your bidding/take your politely worded suggestion: "Make peace with the
Maiden666, I like your idea... I actually assume I'm dealing with no humans, just races ranging from Most-Human-Like Machines to Least-Human Like Machines to Bugs/Insects etc... And so they can work 24 hours a day if need be to build that thing that humans would take 6 months to build in 1 WEEK!! And they're embarrasing the bunny population, too!
From a Founders viewpoint, I must say it's a bit "Oh, okay then!" I don't mean to say that any of the DLC have been particularly bad or lacking, just that because I prepaid last March/April, this all feels like free stuff (I don't even have to click on anything to download the DLC/patches/etc) and I sometimes start to wonder if anyone's going to suddenly catch up with me and say "Hey, that guy never paid for this!" before remembering I did last year!! Franco,
So the Korx appear to have been ruined by the demon drink, spending their lives in bars if this is a hint...I mean, that and probably listening to much too much music too loudly through those headphones he/she is sporting.
I would expect "micro" means "micromanagement". I've never known Frogboy/Stardock to use micro to mean "small", the same way they've never used macro to mean "big". 1.6 could end up being a small Stardock micro update - that is, not much has been changed in it (hence it's small) but what has been changed is the micromanaging required for starbases (hence it's a stardock micro update). Or it could be a macro micro update??
But should Stardock try and make the game harder for those of us who can beat the game on Godlike? I think what they do and what all game developers probably aim for is "how do the majority of people who play our game play?" With GalCiv, that means: Galaxy size, number of opponents, AI level etc. Why spend time coding things so the Godlike level is incredibly brilliant when you're impressing 0.25% (say, I honestly don't know the numbers) of your customer base? Okay, that might be the
Hey, the AI on Normal or Gifted kicks my ass, why would I let a human do the same thing? I would play MP at some point: I guess there'd have to be rules - ie planetary wheel for everybody, sensorships all 'round etc ie everyone takes advantage of min-maxing etc. Otherwise, it's a game where the one or two min-maxers streak ahead with their 73 Turn Ships/SensorShip that can see THE WHOLE GALAXY/50,000 weaponized (due to the 0% of hull they use Frogboy mentioned earlier toda
If you haven't heard it, I'd recommend the Weddings Parties Anything version of "Barrett's Privateers", which is on on their "They Were Better Live" album if you can find it/Youtube it. I'm posting this before I hear your Stan Rogers version, so at worst it's 2nd...
DLC will come out when 1.5 is Live, not just Opt-in. I think the Diplomacy improvements are good as far as they go but the number of improvements is a bit Meh. It seems sensible to me to make a huge jump in Diplomacy with the Espionage expansion as they are to me quite closely linked. Using spies to undermine Diplomatic relationships between races etc...
If, as Frogboy says, the planetary wheel was always going to be taken out the back and shot and therefore the AI was never designed to use it to it's best advantage, why not make it a Multiplayer Only function? That way, the people who are designed to use the planetary wheel to it's best advantage (us human folk) can use it if they so desire when going up against other human folk and Singleplayer folk (like me) can if avoid a situation where the human chooses to use it be
