My suggestion would be once you have points in one ideology points earnt in other instead remove points in that one re locking benefits until you hit zero points. Then you can gain points in another. That way you can only follow one ideology at once put can change althoughthe cost of changing is higher the more ccommitted you are.

Well my thought was that if your people are used to you being nice they might object when you start playing the tyrant.

I would guess that star dock don't want the extra issues getting it to work on an unpopular and obsolete OS which most people either never used or upgraded from since it made their computer run like a dog. If I sound better I am, that I had to pay to upgrade to windows 7.

Logically i would expect it to be able to work since Windows 7 is pretty much Windows Vista with the atrocious memory management fixed. Though because of that I would have thought it would need more memory on vista. Could be it runs ansOS version check and doesn't recognise vista. Anyway I think you should upgrade your os anyway. Vista is awful and Microsoft should have given a free windows 7 upgrade to everyone who bought it if they had any decency.

First of all I'd like to say that for an alpha the game is really stable. Played a whole game on small today and not one crash. Obviously at this stage not a feature complete game but what's there is fairly good. One area that needs a lot of work is the colony screen. The terrain types on the hex tiles don't line up with the terrain on the planet surface map. Also it took a while to figure out while I kept building things on the wrong

Thanks kryo found that myself after I asked, should have taken my advice on another thread and Googled a bit more for it first. Initially I'd found mostly tools to convert the other way.

What's interesting is I had recently been giving some though to how to create such an animated 2d race creation tool as I was thinking of a project to create my own android 4G space game. Still considering sadly I doubt I currently have the spare time. But who knows I might get to it.
Let's compare our experience with Elemental to that. Elemental was not broken as such, it was playable. Not quite what promised but it did work. And without any fight or argument we were given compensation in form of nice game. I would not call it dark spot but mark of honour, namely because some other companies have handed me steaming pile of turd and then essentially told me to suck it up.
M

On another note is there a free or cheap tool for converting from mp4 or AVI to Bink format? So I could create video outside the game in the meantime? Or always if they never grant my wish list for a future expansion [e digicons]:')[/e]

Indeed so how about it stardock can we have a modding and customisation tools expansion which includes a lego kit race customisation editor and more engagement with your own race through the UI so that it really counts.....that's high on my wish list anyway. As for the base game can't wait to get my hands on the ship editor it sounds great...from the little info we so far have. Ship customisation was one of my favourite activities in GC2.

Race specific tech trees where by far the best addition to the game ever. I to remeber the beta of Twilight of the Arnor and how they added them for different races over different release, I was always eager to try out the latest race to get tech tree love after any release.

Hi Kryo, Thanks for that and interesting I hadn't looked in the files yet on the Alpha, haven't really even had much chance to play it yet hopefuly will this weekend. I think Stardock have always underestimated the effect on engagement of more interaction with the race you have chosen to play and I know others have bought this up to I remember it came up in a recent interview that you didn’t see enough of your own race in game. While I love

Elemental was a very modifiable game, extremely data driven using XML and so in theory great for modders. However although the game was very modifiable, this modifiability was not very accessible to the average player. Information on the Schema of the various XML documents was hard to access although the community did start to build up a repository of this information after a while. I feel that this meant that largely Elemental hasn’t really lived up to it’s

Actually the whole Elemental debacle gave me more confidence in parting with my cash early here rather than less. Because while I agree the release version of Elemental was not up to scratch, Stardock went to great lengths and expense to ensure I not only got my money’s worth in the end but in fact more than got my money’s worth. £75.99 as it is in the up is a lot of money for a Game but when you add in all the expansions and DLC I feel sure will be pr

Or they could add an advanced option for a custom galaxy size in game. With a warning that no testing has been done with galaxy sizes larger than the biggest official size and you may just crash the game if you go to crazy. True though that it's more likely the galaxy sizes will be specified in an easily modable XML file. I do agree though that needing to find and edit XML can be daunting for those who aren't familiar with the format. I work in

For alphas it would Likely be normal for betas it may or may not. Remember a lot can change in these early builds so resetting is probably a wise thing to force.

Sorry Vanadrom, wasn't trying to be condescending just helpful. Keep in mind other than the content of your posts I had no way of knowing your level of technical knowledge and the options you are asking for to manage an area of virtual memory in game seem to me to add complexity to memory management with no actual benefit. My last post was an attempt to explain why to some one without assuming they had more technical knowledge than the earlier posts in this thread sugg

Actually it looks like their shoulders are fitted backwards and upside down, I'd like to see a rendered movie in the game of how they make practical use of those arms that doesn't have people rolling on the floor with laughter... If so I take it all back.

To be honest I think the issue is more you don't understand how memory and virtual memory management work and are there fore having problems understanding how our replies relate to your question about the game and it's ability to work on a larger scale. GC2 and other games on 32bit systems where limited in how much memory they could use by the address range on the system, every memory location has to have a unique address and in 32bits you can only represent addresses for up t
