Ah well if you search through the forums you would see I did a whole post on the topic of custom races [e digicons][/e] . To briefly sum up here my suggestion was that they have a race builder similar to the soverign builder / unit builder in the elemental games crossed with the spaceship designer in this game: You would pick a basic form so the animation system knew where to start e.g. Humanoid, Insectoid, Cephalopod, etc Then be able to remove/attach/

No if you bought from Star Dock directly I believe you should have been emailed a code, you need to go to purchase it through steam and enter that code as a promotion I think. Haven't actually done this myself as I bought on steam. Then you should be able to download and play. Can anyone else who bought through stardock direct verify this? This is just what I've previously read on the forums.
The alpha is out for those who have bought the Elite founders addition and can be downloaded from steam.
Can we please axe the news robot this time; can I have an advisor of my own species bringing me news instead? I always thought the robot was to save budget on separate renders for all species, but seeing more of the species you are playing would I think really add to the engagement of the game. Also I’d like a research advisor likewise to announce it when I make a break through. Pretty please….
That's not why, I just think it might be better for stardock if the alpha where discussed in a forum specificly for alpha testers.
Working now but seems to buffer a lot. I really wish they would ditch flash player so I could access from my phone.
I can see where you are coming from to a degree, I don't agree that pragmatism isn't an ideology but that aside. The Ideology trees already have branches they could just extend that idea to create sub ideologies fairly easily that would fulfil the sort of thing you are looking for with your two axis system. On the hole the Ideology system is pretty simple and basic but that's because it reflects the morality system in previous GalCivs and that has alway
Odd for me the 30 second add plays fine then nothing....
If there's two things in this crappy world that I hate, it's polls and the friggin production wheel. Sliders may not be as hip and cool as the new production wheel, but they're simpler to use when trying to get exact numbers. I think the production wheel is clunky. Instead of just setting the sliders to the values I want, I have to go searching for some little hex that represents those values. And wh
Yes I kind of agree with the ParagonRenegade on this, but also think it's a fair point that competition over rare habitable worlds helps drive conflict. It's the reason why giving different races different sorts of planets they like while probably a more realistic model doesn't make for a good game because it removes competition.
Is there another version of this anywhere? like on You tube currently I only get the add from that link then no video afterwards.
I really must see that video problem us ut needs flash player so watching on my mobile is out and when I'm on my pc I want to play the Alpha instead.

Verga should be a valid star name. I mean, it is a valid Sovereign name.
True I had to look that one up, and it's a fair question how much should they care? They can always have adjust the l

Point 2 is another reason I think my system of forcing you to only follow one tree at a time would be good. You'd still be able to change but it would be costly and take time and you could never have more than one tree at once let alone max them all in a big galaxy. [e digicons][/e] That adds a lot to replay values imo.
I strongly agree with points 2 & 3. On ship movement looks funny in some videos I've seem when going straight up or in any totally straight line. I call it the waggle dance. Because of the hex based map its hard for them to fix. But what I found is that when playing I rarely see the waggle.
There is a journal post about the graphics engine still having some features added and have also been mentions that a lot of art assets are placeholders taken from gc2. But what I would not expect is either the star map or colony map to suddenly go 3d.
What I would say is I'm not worried about rate of progression through ideologies at this stage. At the moment you progress quickly because the same event pops up on every world toy colonise. This is to give you an easy way to test the various levels of the trees. Speed of progress and balance are likley to be addressed in the betas, once the game is pretty much feature complete.
I think it very likely you will need to mod for custom galaxy size and broken save games can always happen depending on the scope of the patch. To be honest if those as you say are major concerns for you I would say the alpha and betas aren't for you and that you wait and see if the final release version has enough other merits to be worth your while. And as I say while I think they more than made good value for money wise for the early adopters of elemental in
I went for the wheel I actually think its a really great idea.
I moved on from my initial thought that it should be penalty and decided instead points in another ideology should by you back down the tree you are currently on before you can go up the new one. The issue is the things the trees give you sound like they should be mutually incompatible in many cases. Yes in real life ideologies are more complex things. But in galciv they are rather more extreme moral stances a bit like the old dnd alignment system. Also I
I agree however the op did not seem to understand what alpha meant and had couched his post in more of a I cant belive that this alpha is not as pretty or complete as a released game. Posting suggestions is good but I think people do need an understanding of what to expect of an alpha. For me it was hard to sort valid suggestion from a complaint that it was an alpha in the op.
True but if you go from a society espousing personal freedom and openess to one building slave vivisection centres society has to accommodate the sudden ethical shift. The system I suggested isn't a penalty, it's more about the fact that as a bigship gathers momentum it becomes harder to turn.
As an alpha I would imagine a lot of the art is placeholder at the moment and a lot of polish and content is still to come. The one event so far in is obviously a placeholder of course there will be more. The star map however will remain 2d so you will have to get over that. Your biggest mistake is you have bought into an alpha without understanding the The concept, an alpha is not a feature or content complete game. </
It also means if your high up one tree making some out of character decisions for a quick benefit has some real cost.
