I think this is a case of horses for courses. You have to remember that GC3 is a turn based strategy game not an MMO, the two types of game have very different UI requirements. I would find an Eve style UI messy, cluttered and over complicated for this type of strategy game. They are also trying to make this game look and feel like a part of the Galactic Civilization series of games, so trying to keep aspects of the look and feel consistant. For a strategy game UI I have to sa

Building unique units, I just wish there where more options I always design my own units every game.
I have to agree that although I still enjoy the odd game, faction differentiation seems somewhat poor the technology trees need to be more diverse. I know each race has a few specialty tech items but it's not really enough. This was improved ad a few factions do feel better for it the undead DLC was great and I like playing the wraiths, Magnar, trogs and undead. I find most the human kingdoms and empires feel a bit similar as do the other fallen. Generally I find the techn
I do like to play a challenge free version of gc2 at times but I do like a few other empires around to crush at my leisure so I'm with those who say best to play with a small number of ai opponents on easiest setting for that.
I tend to think this is harmless to be honest, it seems obvious enough it isn't official and that any of us could start our own unofficial list and name any star anything we like for free. It's not really a scam unless they claim it is officially recognised.
Yes obviously there will be more to invasions in the final game though you will still initiate them in the same way. But that is it for the current early alpha version.
Note you will be asked for your star dock account details when you first start the game. That is what links it once I did that mine registered straight away.
I prefer steam personally but thought they had already said there would be a directly available version of the final game too.
Oh go on I want to play a naughty civilization, now I'm going to have to make that mode. [e digicons]:D[/e]
Yes they have said the tech tree view is being worked on just not in the alpha yet.
Adjacent bonus apply to putting certain improvements in a colony on adjacent hexes..... They aren't to do with the location of the planet.
Cool Gods a Cyborg. [e digicons]:borg:[/e] , you may have eyes everywhere but you can't zoom in and see the tiny aliens bewildered as to how they could untilise those country sized buildings you keep dropping on their planet. [e digicons]^_^[/e]
I think he asks for a way to see the area of effect of your starbases and constructors. You can already see the borders of the AoE in the game, but it's easy to miss. GalCiv 2 was better in that regard, because the whole AoE was distinctly coloured.
Oh I see, in that case then yes I completley agree it isn't really distinct enough at the moment though as you say there is already an indicator.
I think they probably will, didn't they have them in a later addition to GC2? Or is that my imagination...wasn't it you could set up some standard build plans and then just assign them to new planets.
True, it would be an adaptation of the normal AI that would be used to do this so if they add the feature it's likley to be once the AI is much more developed.
Yes having governers you can assign a general focus and then leave too it would be very useful in hudge galaxies.
[1] not sure I understand what you mean here. [2] I think the UI does need some work in this area, particularly where people can try and build on an unbuildable tile and end up clicking somewhere else. Visually they are addressing some of that, but I think there is room to experiment with how you place buildings your suggestion isn't bag they could also do drag and drop. [3] I'm not sure a favourites tab would add much but maybe build plans for governers
Can I just add I find it stange if people think of the colony view as a literal arial photograph of the colony since it would mean those buildings are all gigantic to the point of sillines. This is why I see the colony view as representative a map of the planet from orbit with icons overlayed on areas to dipict the focus of activity in that area. Hence the plack and white part didn't bother me either. GC has never attempted to dipict a realist
I agree the market does look more than a little medieval. The good news is at the moment most of the art for buildings and such are placeholder art lifted direct from gc2. So will be replaced.
Thank you very much.
They haven't published a list yet that I know of even in the vault. Something said in the pod cast suggests modules and weapons etc will be their but added after and seperate from the basic visual design. Still all we really know is they have said the ship designer is going to be a lot more powerful visual design wise this time.
Who cares well me I don't want to play multiple ideologies at once it doesn't make sense to me as I've discussed extensively on another thread. Being forced to do so just adds insult to injury from my perspective. They leave this in I can promise one thing it will be the first thing on my list to mod out.
Yes I hope they do it again but host a copy of the recording somewhere else.
I think those anomalies are fine, If anything I like them like that. No choice involved. It just goes with the concept that sometimes you cannot control everything and the best part are the funny stories The problem lies in that you are forced to unlock the first perk once you have 20 pts. This could be an issue if, for example, you wanted to be good, but you get 20 malevolent points by accident. You are forced to un
Since the arnor and the telenath where able to exist within the gc universe the structure of that universe must allow for such thinhs to exist within it and so it mist be possible for things that can create pocket universes to exist in the gc universe. If anyone actually has such a technology available to them in practice is the real question.
