You do know that if you can see another ship, you can just click on it to see its exact specs right? Compared to that, the fact that you have a Defender M10, when your opponent doesn't know in what order you researched tech, gives literally no additional information.

There are two major things confusing you here: 1) Population no longer gives you 1:1 production it has diminishing returns, and so gives you more at low pop and less at high pop. 2) You are confusing production with manufacturing at times. Production is the base number that all your other numbers modify. So first we find your production which is (flatbonus+pop)*1+multiplier. In your case 4 for capital and +25% for approval: (4+.9)*1.25. This equals 6.125, so we see tha

I personally find the new forums much more difficult to look at. Not sure why, but when I'm looking at the forum now it feels like my eyes are straining. I think it is the increased contrast between the black and grey background.
Why bother with all the different improvements, build 1 or 2 farms so that your population can reach at least 50B Pop, fill the rest with factories, and then play with the Research Project, the Economic Stimulus and the Panet/Shipyard slider. This will become rapidly boring.
Without any science or wealth buildings, this is very inefficient. In order to out perform pure research/wealth worlds, you need to build

I actually think that having dedicated sensor ships so your military ships don't need sensors is strategically interesting, especially because those ships will be slow and vulnerable so you either have to dedicate resources to protect them or leave them as easy targets. I do think there should be some DR or something on sensors though because you don't need that many ships to uncover all of the smaller map sizes atm.

The information on this screen is actually very clear if you know how to read it. The top right corner shows the bonuses (if any) if the currently selected tile. In this case it is relevant that this tile gives +2 levels to approval buildings. This makes your building level 2 which is also shown on the map its self and in the tool tip. This building produces +2 morale base and another +2 because it is level 2 (due to the tile bonus) for a total of +4 morale. It also gives +1 level to any adja

The problem with bee-lining in the way they have the trees set up is that you are likely you hit one of the techs where you have a choice of three, so it's not so simple as automatically going through all the prereqs to get to the tech you want.

From what Paul said in the previous stream it sounds like custom blueprints will not be in in gold, but likely an early patch or dlc. @BlackMerlin, this would I think be something that you would want to do through modding, as you probably want them to have a unique engineering tree that would give their smaller ships some advantages. You could leave medium+ hulls completely out of their tree. You could also mod their blueprints so they wouldn't have and auto-generated ships bigger

One of the things Brad has talked about is that the data-mining enabled by steam will allow AI to learn from the best human players. He mentioned that previously he could only program the AI to play as well as he could play, but now he can make it play as well as the best players. The idea of chess AI is not completely inapplicable either as one of the main strengths of chess AI is that it has a huge bank of previous games in its memory, and so can look at a situation and find the same or an
@Peregrine23 Wait, so if my relation with another race is "Cool" (as in not hot, not heated ) that I'm more likely to go to war with them than if it were "Annoyed"?
Yes, to me cool seems a step beyond annoyed, but I have no real rationale, it's just a gut feeling.
I would really recommend that you do. I do not like RTSs, but with Stardock and Soren I decided to take the plunge, and even in it's pre-alpha version it was really fun, plus its really nice to have a game that only goes for 20 min when most of the games I play go 10-40 hours p

This thread has exploded, but I'd like to point out that in the stream he said that the normal AI in Beta 5 will play with the same rules as the player. I don't think they said that that was how it would be at gold. Which, of course is not to say that the AI will be good enough at gold to justify it being set above normal, but I'm just throwing it out there for accuracy's sake.
Developers now lay off many employees after a game is released. This was not always the case. Is this change good? I would say no.
This actually happens a lot less now than before because of how digital distribution has made dlc and smaller expansions more viable.
It was about a changing development strategy which is still in its infancy and I do not think is in th

I know this has been said before, but things go on sale. I don't understand the outrage. Things have gone on sale for as long as there has been retail. Oh, and things go on sale on Steam all the time. Putting an item on sale is not an insult to people who already bought the product. Quite frankly it has nothing to do with people who already bought the game. If you looked at the game and decided it was worth the price they were asking, then stop worrying about the deals other

I'm pretty sure Stardock has no say as to when/if Steam puts their games on sale. EDIT: After doing a little research I am still not sure, but it appears that Steam sort of proposes sales and developers can choose to opt in or not. That being said, I'm not totally sure how selling their game at a discount translates to not caring about their customers.

Once a constructor enters a starbase it is consumed, so you cannot split modules on a single constructor between multiple starbases.

Paul has said that the governors will be somewhat minimal because he doesn't want the game to play its self. I personally agree with this assessment. For me, colony management is such a huge chunk of the game that I would not want it automated. Also, no matter what you do, multi-player games on large maps are going to be drawn-out affairs to be played over a number of sessions.
