This is a great post; very insightful! This guy knows what's up.
That guy assumes that tactical combat would be implemented poorly while supposing that the strategic map would be implemeted perfectly. Like if Stadock couldn't (theoretically) screw the stratregy layer. No one wants a poorly implemented tactical combat as no one wants a poorly implemeted strategy layer. 2+2=4. Apparently, ther

The whole point of the UT is to be able to communicate with them. Doesn't change the fact that each one still speaks whatever they speak. My leader in Civ V is supposed to be able to learn all the languages of the other leaders? Or do we just assume that despite whatever the leader dolls use as language, they and mine use a common language that is reflected in the UI? Edit: funny thing, if I played altarians, the other leaders should use "altarian Mucha Shaka Paka" once UT is rese
I like the idea of Farm Worlds. Which would also happen to make sweet targets during wars.
https://www.galciv3.com/databanks The Civilizations pic could point at a diplo screen like in Civilization, which I like. Going the step beyond that and add voices? From a cool factor, it'd be a nice plus if they were to speak their own Mucha Shaka Paka (with proper translated subtitles once UT is researched). It'd add to each major civilization getting their own visual style for ships (and their own AI, techs,...?). Spea
In GCII there were only 5 “styles”, that were used to build all 12 major races, pirates, minors etc. In GCIII each Major Race will have its own unique style. Which will consist of many parts, 50 or so. Depending on style.
I know that I cannot get an answer to this yet but here it goes anyway: how many major civilizations are we talking about? Closer to Galactic Civilizations II or to Galactic Civilization
Those who like the idea of designing carriers and seeing carriers in action in fleet battles I think will be happy. Those who imagine fleet battles that play like MOO2 (i.e. where you're micro managing individual units) will be less happy.
If it's like GalCiv II but with the addition of carriers/fighters (and their logistics/techs mumbo jumbos), I'd happy with that. Different races/civilizations. Not just for the canon ones but also for the custom ones that (I hope that) we can create. Super abilities and different tech trees (in addition to their own AIs) was a good step but I'd love more. If this was fantasy, I'd say Master of Magic. As it's sci-fi, I'll say Master of Orion 2. I love to get stuck in the custom civilization screen of that game and all it's posibilities. Galactic Civilizations is to a point more simple than that. And
It was annoying to try to get aligment events to be able to get Saintly aligment for free, and eventually be forced to buy your way in because you don't get enough of those events (which I may as well choose evil stuff and then buy the goodie later).

'Spacecraft' carriers serve no purpose. Tiny one man fighters don't make any sense tactically or strategically. No space-faring empre would invest in them. Too much expense and complexity for way too little bang. Single pilot fighters belong on the small an
I'd suggest people to think more than one option just in case. Not just because of filters but because sometimes, someone else may end up with the same choice for some kind of unforeseeable reason. I'll be epicly baffled if someone actually managed to pick the same name as me but you never know...

It's the "poor" Elite Founders who don't have their alpha yet (not until early next year). Cannot wait for all those memory leaks. I wonder how epic they can be thanks to 64-bits?

Mega Events only occur when everything is candy and lollipops. They don't seem to appear when everybody (except me) is at war (thanks to me). The other day saw a funny one (never seen it before) giving to the Iconian sector's uncolonized planets (and those in sectors around the iconian one) a raise of 9 in PQ. Let's say that I got lots of planets, including two in the Iconian solar system. Not sure if mega event or not but the effect was certainly "Wow!". Earlier i
