^^^^^^^^^^^ Confused. I can set the Pirate's color to something else? EDIT: Followup -- And do I have to find them, first?

I see two sides here: 1] This is a game. The rules are the rules. If the AI doesn't want to trade tech with you because you're too powerful, oh well. [Extrapolate for other flaws.] 2] The AI has no distinct diplomacy personality for each race. It is a bitter single minded bitch who won't trade you a very obsolete weapon tech that you skipped over in exchange for ten planets, or 10,000BC even if you're on the opposite side of the map. [Extrapolate for other flaws.] <br/
Stupid question: How/where do I get the betas? I've only got the v1.1 release.
Mission Accomplished !!1!!1!
I found the MOST FRIGHTENING RACE in the galaxy. Its me!
Then the text on the minor race screen. the one that says you don't know much about them and should do some espionage to learn more, should be removed. Please?
I hate the small maps, because it doesn't give me time to develop any real civilization before other decide that they don't like me.
IDEA: Give worthless planet away to another race? LOL Then maybe you can build a new one?
That neutral PQ bonus SO rocks.
I feel guilty for sending 1M people to their death so I can scrap a colony ship for 20bc. LOL -- that should affect my alignement, shouldn't it?
[nod] Okay... then to sum things up.... 1] BUG: Correct the text on the Foreign Stats -> United Planets screen to give a correct indication of the bonus for the prison (not 300%). Easily done. 2] FEATURE REQUEST: Tell the player where a galactic prison (or other voted on reward) is built if it just affects one planet. Tell the player, of course, in the same breath that you tell them they won it, which planet , if possible. 3] UNSURE: Should this also show u
What fsck+ guy said. Build a starbase to increase your range.

I don't know if this is considered a bug or not, but it really is a bitch to upgrade all my regular research facilities to NLCs. And also to fix all my production queues. Unfun = Bug?
I think the original poster has some good points. But ultimately, this is a very good game. And I'm actually optimistic bugs will be smoothed out.
This is one of the things I struggle with. I know that my computer opponents have absolutely no problem producing the latest and greatest ship as soon as the tech is available. Now about waiting to produce w/new tech vs producing now w/old tech, I usually make that call based on my circumstances. If my military is falling low, I'll produce now. If I've got a good military advantage, there isn't any reason for me to produce now, so I'll hold back production for more lethal designs.
My friend says take the game, remove the serial from the jewel box (so it doesn't come back to haunt you), and resell it as quick as you can before everyone catches on. He's such a Korx!!! Oh, the ethical challenges a leader faces...
Just wanted to confrm the 16:9 fat planet. Actually, I thought it was artistic!
Ah, ha! I was looking for the prison or the effects of the prison in the bonus section of the [Details] screen. Turns out, it is in the [Description] box on the left hand side that describes how wonderful/horrible the planet is.
On that topic, I hated the aggressive tech trading of everyone else in Civ3. I had little chance to trade techs with other races unless I just discovered something or was way out in front of everyone else. The net effect is that my research was up against the research of the rest of the planet, which sucks.
Just wanted to reply that I, too, have encountered this bug many times. If I name a ship as a name that already exists (not sure if it was available at my present tech or not), then I would get the pop-up warning about not naming upgraded ships the same name. Then on the list of ships to build, the exact same ship (same name, same stats) would appear twice.
Correct, OldDocc, as mentioned in my first post, that is where you find you can end up discovering which planet is your prison planet. Which is very unintuitive, but at the very least, the game should inform you where it is placed at the time it places it. Marcathonas: Thanks for the UP vote text. Here is what the UP results say *after* the vote describing the bonus: "Using inmates as workers, production on the planet will triple, as long at the prisoners don't riot."
It is impossible for me to locate the pirate ships on the map because of race ships with a similar color. I have to manually click through all of the red ships to find it. If possible, please find some way to distinctly identify the pirates?
It makes sense after you hear it, but it is very unintuitive to go to the Foreign Stats -> United Planets screen to read the law which establishes a galactic prison. I believe they should be told which planet gets the Galactic Prison when it is formed so they don't have to hunt for it. Also... during the vote, I think it says something like a 50% increase? (Or was that 50mp?) The text of the law says it will TRIPLE production. I think the bonus isn't a triple like the text says. Also,
