OMG! The Yor are all energy beings and stuff and now they're going around floating inside my Presidential Galactic Bedroom Suite when I'm trying to get it on with the Royal Ladybeing. I mean, gross! Who wants energy beings flying around when you're trying to get it on? I give up. Fine, Yor. You can watch. Enjoy your technological victory, you perverted blobs of god-like energy! I, for one, welcome our new disembodied technological overlords.

Looks like the programmers thought of this one. If you play a Metaverse game against opponents who are allied against you, you win on the first turn. But you don't get any points, and they don't credit you with a win. But they do credit you with a game played, anyhow... Link to my character's profile PS: Didn't seem to affect my difficulty ranking so far... I ran the games as 'suicidal'. Don't
I don't envy your programming task, but it could make for an interesting feature.
That's one way for a galactic empire to deal with I.T. problems.
I've also noted that on a reload, your civilization seems to stall for a turn. I know this isn't scientific, but I wanted to add my two cents.
Glad I could add to your success. Now, if only the game had been called, "Master of Orion III"...
Just a question. When I walk away for 30 minutes, is the AI cleverly analyzing all of the possibilities and trying to find innovative ways to crush me, or am I safe?
Crap. I'll stop building AWAX ships then and wondering why I'm not able to get them to see further. PS: Was this in the manual or something?
I go for 4 factories. If it is a very large planet, I go for 6. Then I go for all the things I need for a research or a economy planet. Once the planet is developed, I convert some of the extra factories back into the primary purpose of the planet. That way, I'm not waiting forever to get the benefit out of my planets.
The tough part is when you don't solidify your planet claims near THEIR eventual borders. Then they like to play the influence game on you. It is annoying for them to colonize Mars, but it isn't much of a loss. Although I wonder if it'll hurt relations later ("our borders are so close" -- yeah, you took a little planet in my home system, duh!)
Ah... here is the message which more directly describes the problem I'm having with the mini map. Yes, I am using the scroll wheel to zoom in. Having zones disappear as I zoom in [closer], but they seem to restore okay when zooming out [larger view]
I just wanted to pile in here. It seems that when I zoom in one level on the mini-map, the spheres of influence of some of the neighboring races disappear. If I zoom in again and zoom back out, it becomes okay. I seem to be able to (without wanting to) reproduce this over and over.
The "get off my lawn" of interplanetary diplomacy. LOL
Its an odd situation and more of a game design question. Galactic ettiquite is to race them to the planet, or manually shoot their ships. Nobody has respect for your territory.... or is it sphere of influence? Anyone can travel in anyone's area without causing war, which is different than the civ games. But no less correct.
Mistoffeles pretty much nailed it. (I was going to throw in the remove the farm, insto-kill billions in a week.) The only thing I'd throw in... don't go for farming upgrades. ITS A TRAP!!!
Quite a number of times, I've done surveillance upgrades on my starbases. It looks like the first few may do something, but the later more expensive ones don't seem to increase the range that the fog of war is pushed back. Its like those starbase upgrades do nothing. I'm not sure if having The Eyes of the Universe is part of the problem or not. But for sure, the very last upgrade does nothing.
Dude! They should do like they did in that episode of Star Trek Deep Space Nine where they used their sheilds to create a low level warp field to reduce the mass of the starbase enough so that their station keeping thrusters would be able to propel them to the wormhole! OMG it is so simple, why didn I think of this before? I'm going to get my scientists right on it!!1!!!
Evidently, when vengeance happened, a ship was placed on the same square (in orbit) around two of my planets. This had the interesting side effect of not making my planet available via the map. (I probably could have gone in through the colony screen and, from there, accessed the planet and altered my build queue.) I also didn't have direct access to the ships in orbit around the planet. The next turn, the enemy ships moved off of the planet and access was restored. Is this intentiona
Update: I just had a game go Vengeance on me. FYI, I had complete espionage (highest level) on all other races. Can't say about chances being lowered, but it does happen with full espionage.
Don't know if this is intentional or not, but it looks like you can get out of a vote by pressing ESCAPE. I am unclear if the vote still happens (I'm leaning towards not), but would make a nice exploit if there is a vote that could potentially harm you.
I've won a few conquest victories now that I'm on v1.1. (Never did conquest before, always influence happened first.) But I haven't seen any conquest end movie at all. I saw movies for all the other endings. For the first time, I won a conquest victory while playing a Metaverse game and saw the ending movie. Hurray! QUESTION: The ending conquest victory movie in v1.1, non-Metaverse, is it teh borkned?
Hey, StarDock... don't cue the, "you're in deep doo doo" music so quickly. I'm doing fine!!! LOL. Like playing a funeral durge in a hospital, that game is.
Go to the edit my characters page under the acount tab and click the default button. That doesn't make any sense. But my metals have disappeared in between playing two games. So let's see if that restores them.
Dude! His eyes could shoot lasers and he could have, like, a mind control beam. Except it is a mind slow beam and it causes researchers to research poorly all over the universe if they're all allied to the same government. And he could also have a racial memory wiping ray to cleanse the minds of the researches, technicians. Of course, he doesn't have the ability to control computers, but that's why he has the super tech virus that can target a specific tech but it only useful when used with his
Oh. I was the Terrans. My color was... what... blue? The problem is I couldn't separate the pirates from the Drengin ships on the map. I can see changing my color to which would help make me look different than the other similarly colored players. But the problem is the pirates always seem to be red, and every time they've shown up, I've had a red race, and hell if I could visually find the pirates on a huge map. PS: Could I have used the ship find feature to find them?
