Well, unless someone other than frogboy can write some workable A I routines, there will be no decent AI until after this October when Frogboy stated that's when he's due to start on programming the AI, so we might get something for xmas.

I also support this suggestion. But guess it will probably arrive about Beta3 ?
The only command that isn't there is the one to close the debug screen.
Blaze of Glory, you seem to have summed up everything tidily. Hopefully Beta1 will redress most of these short-comings and the Crash-To-Desktop after 270+ turns issue.
Welcome news from Frogboy. Am looking forward to being able to play Beta1 next weekend. I just hope that the Beta1 won't C-T-D after a measly 276 turns and also that Nvdia have there latest driver sorted so that it doesn't cause blue lines across the screen [I have a GTX670] although they disappeared when I could finally persuade
Okay Darca, then why didn't you post as you've explained in point3 so even I could understand what you meant. I'm prepared to let bygones be bygones if you think you can also keep to such an agreement. trouble is I'm such a veteran cynic that I tend to slip into sarcasm without noticing it. I did say that the idea ha
Frogboy's post starting another thread about the beta launch states that the Beta's Target Date is a week from his post, making it 15th Aug. So not long to wait now guys. Glad I'm not the only 1 who doesn't see the point of playing the Alpha any more, I've been playing Civ5:BNW. <span style="font-f
Bump.
I think you always just want the Last Word DARCA1213, however meaningless your comment[s]. And I think that CaptainYar hit the nail on the head, that it would require each planet to have a Firaxis-type Civilization map; and that would lead to too much micro-management however small such maps could be, although I still think the GC2 planet
This seems a disguised form of request for tactical combat which has been done to death in other forum posts. I would suggest seileach that you trawl through the forum posts, however the end result seems that Tactical Combat is going to be minimal to preserve the game's Turn Based Strategy primacy. Sorry but although your suggestion h
It seems to me that the Iridium race are the new Drath, the Trading race, with a nod to the Ferengi from Star Trek. It's hard to be original and create something completely new. I can just see this game being filled with new races based on those encountered in every Sci-Fi Franchise from Farscape back to the original Dr. Who's Daleks, via Star Trek, Babylon-5 and many other <span style="font-family:
I agree 100% with Lord_Silverkey's comments, I also don't think I've ever played a Campaign game throughout the series. Neither have I ever played Sword of the Stars (1 or 2).
You can all disbelieve me if you want to and think I'm trolling and of course you expect me to deny it as I do deny it. I have no proof and can't provide any because, as I said, only the final builds are available. I just have the memory of playing in a 3-D GalCiv beta. I am not a programmer although I have studied programming [for business primarily and many years ago] therefore I'm not able to
Woohoo ! It must be Love DARCA1213, I'm so happy for you.
Then what is the point of having separate trees ? I am assuming that you can travel down more than 1 Ideology tree because the random event from space-junk provides ideology points to any of the ideologies not just one.
I like a lot of the new features in GC3 even though most of them aren't in the alpha. I don't like Black-Holes as seen in the last podcast, will they gobble up ships? doesn't matter there just so unrealistic but then there is an option to disable them. And I'm also a longtime player of the GalCiv seri
Hooray, there are many changes that I like, especially as they seem to be doing something about improving the trading mechanics, witnessed by having Luxury Resources [extra 2 granted in "Trader" branch of newer Pragmatism tree in Ideologies]. But then again things could still change, hopefully developing this further. I know I'm going to have to lean to live with Hexes even though I still don't like them [ if I can do it with Civ5 why not]. I'm begining to look
Yes OsirisDawn as you say "Also for what i know GalCiv3 isnt inventing something new, but is more an itteration of past games. Thats all i want." The Game does seem more of an expansion pack. This topic just won't die.
I tried the game again yesterday with 1 opponent and a map with abundant habitable planets and resources. I managed to have 7-hours gaming, colonising planets well into the teens count and built my 3rd Starport/Stardock before the game crashes [C-T-D] when I try to add other planets production to the Starport as soon as it was available, which was at turn #276. <span style="font-family:
I really must have upset some people, almost as much as DARCA1213 has done. Sorry but I find it too easy to slip into sarcasm sometimes and pretty much everything here on the forums is Opinion-based. The devs ask for our opinions everytime we start-up an Alpha game. This is not the Only thread where objections to Hexes has been complained about. And I thought this thread had been pronounced DEAD by at least 1 of the devs as well as the Original Poster. </
Thanks memoryofadream . I'll try them out.
cosmicdrew - ever heard of punctuation ? I cannot make any sense of your post. In "Twilight" it always puzzled me that when there was a fleet combat the viewer would show that my lower weaponized, speed-fleet-enhanced ships would attack the opposition rather than my armed-to-the-hilt capital battleships. So space-battle visuals seem
I was just trying to point out to everyone that the game is very much in early Alpha stage therefore it should be easier to make changes now rather than when it gets to beta stage. The thing that I forgot the game has, at the moment, is the game engine and the starship-workshop, also perhaps a quarter of the Tech-tree. I can't see that pointing out such stuff is trolling and I am not criticizing the devs and t
Of course you change the playing field in mid-development,when you're in alpha stage, especially if you're going in the wrong direction. I mean how much of a game have we really got at the moment ? A little bit of AI, stuck in War-Mode, and I'm sure there must be something else but I can't remember what !
Are The Devs that bored with this topic "The_Gear" ?
