I know it'll probably still be on Steam, but that's years from now and who knows, maybe my opinion will differ then.
(It is also stuff like this that drives me to download an unauthorized copy of a game. Because those, you can install on any computer without internet or Steam.)
To clarify; what I meant was that most pirated games don't require Steam and/or an internet connection once installed. Even though the original of those games does. At least, that's my experience and understanding from browsing around the web (where people indicate this). I was not saying
Wow, this topic went from a system discussion, to an OS discussion, to a movie discussion in less than 2 pages. [e digicons]^_^[/e]
I agree on the bloat thing. I even thought XP had too much non-essential stuff in it. *Sigh* I miss the Windows98se installer where you could tell the installer which stuff not to install. Why does Microsoft treat us like n00bs?
Great read, hope there will be many more Q&A's. PS: it's NitroX infinity. Capital N and X and the rest is lowercase (I'm pointing to you 'I') [e digicons]^_^[/e]

CPU: I don't think you have anything to worry about. MEM: My guess is that 4GiB will be the minimum. GPU: The GPU itself should be okay, but how much memory does the card have? Why is your resolution so low?
Right click on Computer, or My Computer, whatever it's called in Vista and select properties. That should tell you if your OS is 64bit or not. We don't know the system requirements yet but maybe this can give you an idea whether or not your system will be adequate; https://forums.galciv3.com/450006/page/1
But for a specific game/program, the programmers of that game/program know what goes where. They know if the game puts something in Documents & Settings, and they know where exactly. So for them, it would be no problem to make the uninstaller also remove that.
Shouldn't have to use a third party program to remove stuff from another party if that party provided an uninstaller.
I can accept that, but I assume you know this already so why not tell the user that folders and files will be created there after installation or during gameplay?
I have a major pet-peeve that a lot of people might find ridiculous but it is something I would like to address in the hope that GalCiv3 will not have these kind of annoyances. 1) Installation When a game asks/allows me to select _where_ to install the game, I am always annoyed to find game files installed in other folders. I'm talking about (for example) those subfolders in subfolders in subfolders in subfolders in Documents & Settings. And then there&#
Quoting NitroX infinity, reply 23 That is simply not true. There are many older games that still outshine most newer games. Didn't object to the rest of my post? Older games, at best, have better puzzles and stories over modern games. Their soundtracks rape the ears, their gameplay is limited by their input controllers and their voice acting is very poor or non-existent. Th
Relating to the story of the GalCiv universe; are there parts of the story that were told in GalCiv 1 and 2 that you now would like to have done different for a better storyline in GalCiv3 ? What will the difference between the expansions and the dlc be?
Also back in the day you needed the internet to download the latest patches.
Really? Here in the Netherlands we had gaming magazines that came with cd's (and later dvd's) that usually had patches for games on them, amongst other things. @Seilore; I think Wintersong was being sarcastic, note the smiley in his post ;)
You argue wanting to have the option to play in case you happen to lack having an internet connection and then also say that things like requiring an internet connection drives you to download a pirated copy. Tell me, how do you pirate the game without an internet connection? And how does pirating a game help satisfy your need for a physical copy? Sorry man, but that's a pretty weak argument to me to justify stealing
As we get closer to the alpha of GalCiv3, one thought haunts my brain; "no, this is not the way." First of all let me clarify where I come from. I am thirty years of age and can be considered an old-school gamer. My first "gaming rig" was an Atari 2600. The black plastic one from 1984, also known as the 2600 Junior. After that I got a Super Nintendo Entertainment System. I still remember the smell when I opened the box for the first time and playing Super Mario World for the first
Love the new economy concept image in the vault/repository. I like the combined social and military production and the new slider is awesome too. Just wondering if that is still in the game or if it's a canned concept?
Well, there are black holes in the game, maybe we'll be able to turn stars into black holes?
What is this about? You changing your nickname? Why can't you just say "I changed my nickname"? Why do you feel the need to make up a story? Why do you need to open a separate topic? [e digicons]:maybe:[/e] Just wondering.
I just hope the AI will keep things interesting on easier levels too.
New stuff added to the vault!
There's a double in there. Plus, they are both already in there as the 'altarian clay model concept' just a few lines down.
The fact that you threw in nVidia in that mix is what led to my mistake. Shameless self-promoting plug; https://forums.galciv3.com/450006/page/1/ Some ideas about system requirements.
ParagonRenegade; WTF? In no way are Intel GPU's better than AMD GPU's. Any site that says they are, is spreading lies. Edit; I'm guessing you weren't talking about GPU's but about CPU's. Never mind me [e digicons]:|[/e]
