Looks like a giant ship is heading towards a distant earth. I'm still not completely sold on the idea of starports outside the planet but I'm willing to try it.

That actually looks really good. Seems like you spent quite a long time on it. Not sure if I would have the patience, but it#'s clear that if you spend time on the editor you can make really good ships. Hiding parts inside the hull is a time-tested concept so don't worry about it! Making it look like like an illusion of another part, that's just great! I may have to take that challenge, but I will probably make a spaceship looking like a bee instead! </p
Only managed to see this now. That is cool. Can you make one that seems to be like a pump of sorts? Then we can pretend it's pumping the energy rifles towards the enemies :P
Just to be be clear, I mean total untruth when I call the Shipyard Alpha "not fun".
I know. Maybe I should have added /s to my comment :P
I will check with my video gamer family to see about posting a video. I don't really know how to take a video. The thirty second cycle would be cool.
If you don't feel like it's complex
Could you post a gif or small video so we can join in the un-fun? :P
Me likes the offsets, can set my parts where I want them to be exactly :P
The oscillate option and the symmetry options are making me giddy! First observation after trying it: Finishing from the ship designer and exiting it results in a slowdown of the whole game for a couple of seconds. Is it loading everything back to memory?
Hah, we can see it wasn't designed by an artist indeed ;P Is it supposed to be the flying spaghetti monster or whatever it's called?? :P
Ugh , perhaps. I tried to do that multitasking but I found I stopped enjoying either activity afterwards and felt really tired... Although I'm not that old!
I suppose most people would play this game fullscreen and devote all their attention to it (To suggest otherwise would be blasphemy ;P) So such an alert would be very low down on the developers list. Imagine also in the reviews if they didn't discover the off option!

Lol, this sounds like a drunk post, but I like it so happy belated birthday Paul!
If you zoom out more you will see the map changing to show the strategic interface (is that it's name?). The planets will change to show their habitability and will show your icon as well. I find that very useful to locate my planets. Then you just zoom back in where you want.
I think 4 might be too low for me too. If there are going to be simultaneous turns then 8 seems much better!
The double beep sound I thought signified the end of turn. The naming issue I think I agree on some level. Although in GalCiv2 there are still names of developers but because you might have not heard of them before you accepted it. This time it might be going a bit far though.
I think it's only Planetary Invasion. Maybe some propulsion tech. I'll have to check and let you know...
Pretty much it. You might need to research the Planetary Invasion first before you can build a transport. :)
Thanks guys, I was going to send the save file anyway, I just wanted to see if anybody else gets this problem. Squashy squashy! [e digicons]:banhammer:[/e]
I just wanted to say this problem persists and I can't continue my game. I've tried reloading, quitting and restarting but the idle colony button won't let me continue, no matter how many times I confirm that the colony is indeed producing stuff. What I'm I doing wrong here?
Perhaps we could take a middle route. Make the planet screen immersive and colourful, yes that would be nice. But I want to be able to look at the important tiles in the world more easily and know that I can build on them and what I should build on them should be easy to build. I agree with joeball123 that it needs to intuitive. In Civ games
Quoting Achronous, reply 41 It's good UI design I'd say. Makes you focus on the important parts. Sometimes, Form > Function This is one of those instances
I suppose people will always like different things. And that's fine. :)
It's good UI design I'd say. Makes you focus on the important parts. What pisses me off is the zigzagging ships. Argh.
As the title says, one of my planets is stuck as Idle Colony and I can't move onto the next turn. The planet clearly has empty tiles and I am queueing different things, projects or ships but nothing works to clear its condition. I've rushed a construction, but still stuck. This is with 0.0.2.0 version. Anybody else seeing this? Drengin toilets clogging the queue?
The Pragrmatism I seems a bit overpowered to me. Some strategies depend on attacking early on and this completely bypasses it.
I like the monochromatic unusable tiles. Provides a good contrast and makes it quicker to see where to build the next project. I don't think the image of Earth and the moon is necessary as well. On the right hand side, I like how the projects are split from the rest of the buildings. I don't like that they are labelled Available Projects for the buildings and Projects for economic, research queues. Doesn't make much sense to call the buildings/construct
