Yeah, the point is that in game settings with many planets, and an immense galaxy, the science yield can be insanely high. There should be some game speed available to better scale it. An inspiration could perhaps bee to look at how the Civilization series are doing it, up to the Marathon speed.

Yeah. Immense maps need more civs.
Thypical for our time this debate. I have nothing against using the terms good and evil, and it suits this genre. Somehow it creates some extra suspense. Star Wars anyone?
A New Beginning is just so beautifully arranged. I'm glad you kept this iconic theme.
Stratos; since it sounds greek mytheology like (stylish indeed) and my last name is Strande.
Not sure it's a good idea making winning battles even better then it is in the first place.
I have one request in this regard. In multiplayer games with AIs, please make sure the human players start as spread out as possible.
Quoting Cikomyr, reply 1 While I understand your concerns, I would rather we do not have full visibility within cultural borders. Otherwise, how could ships infiltrate? Enemy ships probably shouldn't be able to walk up to your front door unnoticed.
That's why sensor tech is important, both on ships and Space stations. This is a part of strategy.
That's not really threatening. I'm talking about 'Gimme this or I'll attack you' threats.
Yeah, but then you should also have a system giving consequences of not following up the threaths. Example: You threathen a nation to attack if they don't pay you tribute. They say No. You don't attack them anyways. In the real world's h
Because the game will still be turn based, and work turn based in all its mechanisms. The only difference is that all human players take their turn at the same time. Seems like you have no idea how TBS MP works, to say it a bit harsh. I suggest you play some Civ4/Civ5 multiplayer, to see how good it works, what it's all about and also how popular it is. RTS MP is totally different. You can't make this game TBS in SP, and another version RTS for MP. That would be
If they make carriers work in battle, and have a role, it would be wonderfull. If they can't they won't implement it. Easy as that. It would be cool, but only if they fit in of course.
I don't know for sure, but let me put it this way. It's 99.99% sure they will go for a 2D map. 0.01% chance maximum they will do a 3D map. That would be just to look cool, and not caring about easy access to information and epic gameplay. Extremely unlikely Stardock would be that crazy. So reallly no point in speculating about this.
EVERYBODY playing simultaneously... If there is concurrency between players it's no longer a turn base strategy (I imagine TBS means that) In my version of simultaneous turns the turn is respected : when it's your turn you can do whatever you want nobody will stop you. If other players plays simultaneously it's because the system find that they can't prevent themselves to act real

If you missed it. Seems nice.
I've seen them. Looks really good already. Those other images might be battle cinematics. Looks awesome as well.
Excellent! Some new news. Must say I like the hull consisting of components now.
I dont undertand your idea : all players are not in the same turn ? they would be one turn difference between the slowest and the fastest ? All players play simultaneously ?
Yep. Multiplayer for TBS has come a long way. You will be suprised. :)
Quoting NorsemanViking, reply 11 I'm not the slightest worried about that. More possibilities here will only enrich the MP community and make it grow. We need to look at Civ 4 and 5 in these matters, and the choices you have there in the setups. Most of Firaxis' solutions will also be ideal for GalCiv3. Except for the way they broke diplomacy with the AI in Civ 5's MP. That was terrible. Don't copy
But if a game offer lot's of MP possibilities that will divide the community : some will play simultaneously some won't, some will pay fast game other epic game... So they will be less players available for match making and that is very important for MP
I'm not the slightest worried about that. More possibilities here will
Rumours?
Yeah. A biessener's post was what I was refering to. ;)
I'd say it's an advantage with these kinds of games they can provide long epic MP experiences. We have enough fast action MP experiences arround. There will of course be quick speed, tiny maps and teamer possibilities for those who want short as possible games. But what really will make MP to stand out in GalCiv3 is the possibilities to play hours after hours with many human opponents on big maps and on normal + speeds. The great SP experience, but with mostly human opponents.
Would indeed be nice. I heard some rumours they plan to post something today, or at least very soon.
Personally, I can't imagine playing a game like this MP with strangers. I'd imagine playing it with friends co-op (we are going to support playing against random strangers too but I think the most popular way to play will be with friends).
Yeah, friends playing will be popular indeed, but I think you will be suprised how huge the FFA MP comunity will become. I think it will be a good idea to mak
"I just want to inform you that our civilization could utterly destroy yours. Not saying we would, just that we could, you know" I like these kinds of concealed threats. :D
