I just hope they have kept the cosy altarian music theme. :)
Combat will be awesome and fully exploit the possibilities of cinematic tactical battles, and high strategical warfare gameplay. This game will crush all opponents in interesting gameplay and large scale warfare. To make it even better; I will be able to play this beauty in multiplayer. I'm in love.
So many narrowminded views when it comes to multiplayer in this forum. Test Civilization4 and 5 MP and see how it should be done. Works as a charm. Simultaneous is the way to go.
Quoting NorsemanViking, reply 28 MP will open up a wider market for Stardock. Mark my words. Provided that it works well, and that you can play the SP game as it is in MP with all setup options etc. They won't "dumb the game down" to fit fast paced MP, and I couldn't be happier about that. I like epic, large scale, strategical MP experiences. The grand SP game, but with some or all the opponents
4X can absolutely be fun multiplayer.
Yeah! Civilization series has proven it years ago. 4X FFA games in MP are as fun and exciting as it gets, and the bigger scale the better. Bring it on. Coop vs AI... nah, that's rather dull. FFA with all human, or some humans, and rest AI: Thumbs up! When it comes to the information about GalCiv3 weaponry system; my God this sounds just
Posted twice. My sincere appologies Gentlemen.
Can't wait. Screen shots are looking mighty juicy indeed. I have one concern looking at the first screen shot and the production status of each planet. I noticed that the one production status indicator shows either what ship is being built or what improvement is being built. I hope this doesn't mean we have to choose whether we are to build a ship or an improvement...ie FE:LH. [/q
You will get a Steam key when alpha is out they said, so it's not that big of an issue.
I want Youtube LP's by the Frog! :D
Does this preview mean that the alpha version is already out?
I'm afraid we'll have to wait at least 1 or 2 more months, perhaps even longer :) Well, time for some sleep here in old Norway, chaps. Time to dream about GalCiv3. I'll explore that screenshot map in my sleep, expand on it and create my own great GalCiv3 stories. I'll close my eyes with a smile arround my face
Cool overview. Thanx Froggie! I think they all have/had their charm. :D
My Lord, this looks awesome. Love the screenshots, and the way ideologies seems too work. Sounds like a very clever version of the culture to ideas system in Civ5, adapted to the ethical events system in GalCiv2. We get points towards a certain ideology after what choices we make, then we can spend them on the kind of ideology we lean to, choosing between different new traits and abilities within that ideology group? Sounds very clever and fun indeed, if it works something like that
We also need a Steam No Quitter group where we kick out rude and untrusted players. That way membership there will be a sign og quality and thrustworthiness.
I personally loved movie clip part it was always great to watch your designed ships engage in battle, I think it was one of core elements of galactic civ and I really hope they keep it and perhaps implement some future where you can manipulate outcome while watching video! This is not fast paced game and never should be this is turn based strategy I never enjoyed solar sin empire it was to action orientated and way fast paced for my liki
Done the same. Played GalCiv2 the whole weekend. My God this game is great. Hadn't played it in a good while and remembered the game as a masterpiece, but it's even better. This game seems almost like a work of God. :D Can't wait for some more Immense Galaxy, high difficulty play, later today. I started on Crippling since there is some time since I've played. I also have blind exploration and solar systems and planets set to occosional, all tech tr
I think they did it perfectly in GalCiv2. Races were different enough for different strategies and replay value, but not so different that I ended up only wanting to play one Civ. Take an example. If for instance one Civ was nomadic, or for instance consumed planets and had to move on to new ones, I simply wouldn't be interested in playing it. Different yes, but too different. I see a fine line of balance there. Too much diversity can result in a very straight forward gameplay for
Parhaps a Core-system like in Europa Universalis? ;)
The problem is too many don't understand the difference between Strategy and Tactics. Its like brining Dominoes to a Chess Game just because the Board is the same and expect it to work with the other guys chess pieces ..... duuuh Lots of games out there where JoeTheOne dives out of HyperSpace yelling "Die you Swine" as he fires the latest beam weapon through clenched teeth, incinerating a
Since we can already scan our own planet today, I see no reason why any ship with even the minimum default scanners shouldn't be able to already support this idea.
Gameplay reasons?
I'm not against this idea, but if implemented I think it should be as a part of a strategy. Like this ability costing an early technology, or an extra space ship part, or both. This way you have to decide if it is worth it for you, or perhaps you rather like an extra sensor or engine or a cheaper scout vessel.
Those who like the idea of designing carriers and seeing carriers in action in fleet battles I think will be happy. Those who imagine fleet battles that play like MOO2 (i.e. where you're micro managing individual units) will be less happy.
Jolly good! What's not to be loved with the Frog? Both statements are excellent news in my book, and promises well for GC3. This game will be
