I encountered the couldn't-colonize glitch on a habitable planet. I'll try to remember to document it with screenshots next time. I thought maybe there was a programmed reason why I couldn't, that maybe I'd colonized too many planets already or somesuch, but I was able to colonize other planets, that's when I realized it was a bug.

I honestly don't find it appropriate to post any sort of "review" on a game that's only in alpha state. The appropriate term to use would be a preview .
Yes, we did notice and post, and Stardock has acknowledged and will fix: https://forums.galciv3.com/452793
He also posted it here in the forum. No need to clone his post.
In Endless Space, a simple control was added (it wasn't in the game originally) to process all automoves (without ending the turn), and I think something similar could be very useful ... when you have ships on auto (auto survey, auto explore, or just moving long distance), it can help (especially when you are trying to find inhabitable planets to colonize, or beat the AI to survey an anomaly). I find myself, as I did in GC2, manually controlling some of my ships to further them towa
Amazing how many Steam fanbois continue to attempt to hijack this thread. A game that is otherwise identical will run faster and smoother without a program running in the background than it will with that program running ... so many arguing until they are blue in the face that this is not so shows how far gamers have come in the wrong direction, moreso that backward nonsense is not constructive at all to the OP. The OP is and remains: is there a way to launch a game purc
The "tech tree" actually isn't implemented yet, just a tech selector. I'm still trying to figure it out, but it seems some techs allow refinements (production bonus to factories, or making them cheaper to build, or cheaper to maintain for instance) ... I can't tell yet whether the refinements for an improvement propagate to its upgrade replacement. You do start over with the three refinement slots for the upgrade, but there seems to be an indication of % bonus to the i
It helps if you think of it as less buying a game, the way one buys a released game, and more like Stardock's own self-serve Kickstarter.
I have encountered this as well. There seems to be disparity between the bonus icon, the mouseover and the tile description. Take the tile with the starport for instance in the above screenshot (in the Pacific Ocean, where else? :P) ... the icon in GC2 meant a hefty research bonu

I have not gotten mine so I was curious.
Go to store.stardock.com You should have a key, if you bought the Elite founder deal, in the downloads section. You can then go to Steam, activate it, and wait like the rest of us, heh ... it hasn't actually shown up yet, Frogboy is still trying to ribbit it out. :P

Are you saying GalCiv III alpha is that good? By the way, what timezone will receive the midnight release of the game?
Thanks satoru1 and abiessener for swift replies. I suppose I'm just a bit too eager for this game!
You aren't the only one. We Elite founders keep spamming up several different "Are we there yet?" lol.
Quoting satoru1, reply 34 When you register the game please pay attention to the appid it shows up as, because when you register it, it looks like "Steam appid xxxxx". we can watch the steamdb to see when it gets published. Unfortunately, I didn't pay attention and didn't record the steam appid. However, looks like we'll be able to see when it goes live here: <a href="http://steamdb.info/

Anyone know if it releases at midnight? I work a graveyard shift job, but have Wednesday nights (into Thursday mornings) off. I'll be asleep Thursday afternoon, and have to work Thursday evening :/ Would be nifty (as in bragging rights :P) to use my nocturnalist life to have first crack among my fellow Elite founders to catch the first wave of alphabugs.
I still say they should have a Yor theme music, maybe as an easter egg that plays on April Fool's day or somesuch, done with floppy drive stepper motors (see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B_Q6jMUdfYc as an example of what I am talking about).
Quick way to check whether your flavor of Windows is 64-bit: Go to "start" On older versions of Windows, click "Run..." ... or on newer flavors, such as Windows 7, you can just type in the search box Type "dxdiag" (without the quotes) Under "System Information," the third line will tell you what version of Windows you have, and should say "64-bit" if your version of Windows is 64-bit.
My brain just doesn't work fast enough to keep track of what needs to be built when, or accurate micromanaging units with accurate control orders at 300+ APM ... that's a fifth of a second per click

Since snaking to forests to build a logging camp or rivers for a dock is no longer allowed, the only purpose of snaking at all anymore is to put nearby resources in range of your city, and that's kinda weak tea considering your borders will expand anyway, so makes sense to give up on snaking altogether.
