I find it neat that those of us a bit OCD about symmetrical ship designs sometimes no longer have to obsess about placing ship components on the port/starboard centerline if we can only spare an odd number of that particular component and want to maintain symmetry with the ship design -- in other words, if we only have enough available mass for components for one engine, the attachment points on the ship sometimes automatically visually mirror that component if we place it on, s

As can be seen, the 'Unlocks' lists two exactly identical effect descriptions of the tech. I believe one may be intended for starbase shields, the other for starships, but the descriptions are very unclear on this.
Another example would be the current tech descriptors; several techs have enhancements that you can research. From their descriptions, they would seem implicitly to apply to all the techs (in other words, the Maintenance -10% would apply to all research facilities, not just the ones these enhancers are attached to), but that is not really clear ... it leads to the conundrum of when to research an enhancement vs. when to upgrade. Its another example of the ambiguity I mentioned (ac
I always took the planet appearance to mean all planets. You are saying that this doesn't affect the number of habital snd extreme planets.
I am saying it is ambiguous -- the way the UI is setup, it isn't clear. In this specific case, they should at least re-organize the dialog box, put an outer outline box with the Planet Frequency slider (if they stay with a slider) as the 'ti
I wonder if they'll make a Homeworld 3, and make it using Mantle ... now that would rock (presuming they stayed true to the spirit). I heard some Ironclad guys try to market SoaSE as 'the new Homeworld' but it just wasn't. Homeworld still has a bigger sense of scale, even if Sins has a similar relative scale, I think its the way units were controlled from their own perspective, and that there was no perfect rock/paper/scissors ... any unit could attack any unit. &n
I noticed someone else posting the Drengin sending them messages, but weren't showing up in their Diplomacy Screen. I was at war with and took the last planet of the Drengin, and -- as they had ever since I took out their shipyard -- asked for peace every turn, even after I took their last planet and they no longer show up on the Diplomacy screen as a civilization. Drengin are ugly enough as it is ... do we really need zombie Drengin? :P (sorry, couldn't resist ...
Not sure if this is the only time this happens, but it allowed me to eject a fleet and maintain it as a fleet from defending a Starbase with a higher logistics consumption than my logistics cap.
While I can't imagine a player quitting in frustration because they are unclear on what exactly these settings mean, more tool-tips are always appreciated. Even better would be a graphical representation that changes as you adjust the settings.
Its a general suggestion/complaint to avoid ambiguities like this. Where there's this one, there are probably more, each would add to the learning
Ugh. :/ Wish I could just upload the screenshot. Anyone know how to link to an image uploaded to google drive that others can see?
I realize its still a long road to public release, and perhaps there are higher priorities than a polished UI, but I would like to at least suggest some food to thought to approaching judging whether its good or not for release prior to it actually being released. Ambiguity, confusion and/or uncertainty due to lack of clarity with presented controls or information I think can steepen the learning curve for a game. An element of the current UI I would point to as an example where t
Dunno if this is considered threadjacking, but ... Homeworld Remastered finally has a set release date: FEBRUARY 25. Less than three weeks away from the time of this post! And its available on Steam for $29.74 with a 15% pre-order discount. Dunno how much closer you could get to Homeworld in story, though, than, well, Homeworld. :P
Well, the problem I have is that I am not getting equivalent amounts of output when I use research or economic projects. I'm better off changing my spending rates than using those projects. With research, if you set your econ to 100% research, none of your planets will ever build anything. The idea your planets that are completely developed can instead devote their production to research, while your developing planets can instead devote their production to chewing through their production queues ... setting your slider to 100% research means nothing in your build queues (or ship production queues) would ever be built.

I seem to recall the same issue with GC2, having constructors pile up at a starbase when no new modules are available and having to move them a tile away and then back when I researched tech enabling new modules
It was also like that in GalCiv 2, and honestly I like it that way. Even if it does not necessarily make sense. Also, if it did not work like this, taking a wormhole to the other side of the galaxy could have game breaking consequences.
Actually, not entirely ... in GalCiv2, survey ships would not travel to anomalies outside their range.
"Social Darwinism" is an obscene abuse of a hard-thinking scientist's name to falsely legitimize non-scientific doctrine. It has no roots nor basis in Darwin's work and is largely used by plutocrats to justify their self-amassed (or inherited) wealth.
Okay, just to clarify something. I'm talking about this: Reduced 67%Original 844 x 265
And as was stated, the icons for the improvements borrowed from GC2 are temporary, plus its already been acknowledged its bugged (the tooltips don't match the details when you actually click on to select a tile). Ignore the GC2 icons entirely. Some tiles have bonuses but no icon at all.

Does "in here" mean this thread, the Home > Galactic Civilizations III > GalCiv III Founder forum, or anywhere on the forum?
I'm a bit curious on #3 and #5 and whether those are meant to include asteroid mining bases as well (or if asteroid mining bases go to the planet first and thus only indirectly to the subject of SY100). Durr ... I'm having difficulty figuring out what we are or aren't allowed to say and where. Posting on the main forum in 'code' seems kinda silly and spammy to non-founders.
