PBSC seems like a good idea to me.
How's the shipbuilding in the game? Will there be any need to pester Kryo to make another one of his great shipbuilding mods? That was a must have for me in GalCiv2. It was about the only mod I used actually. That and Formis's excellent alien animations.
Actually, since you mention it, there is something in GC3 which is a little bit like KHSM - you can offset various parts on the X Y Z axes, meaning that you don&#
Yeah in all seriousness, GC3 is in beta and doesn't have a mod section, while Rimworld is in alpha and has mods abounding. Of which I am responsible for Space and Prison Meals! , Lantern and Tougher Pawns . *takes a bow*
Hmm, this seems to be a running gag then. In GC2, it was Kona that would snidely comment about humans being up on their rear legs.
RIP Minecraft. It was nice knowing you. :(
1. What specific features of diplomacy do you traditionally like the most? Even though it's a given, having some way to quickly balance the two sides of the deal. So for example, in GC2, the bc needed to make things equal would be picked out. In Civ, asking 'What will it take to make this deal work?' I like long-term co-operation with other civs, as opposed to just taking everything by force. And if the terms of co-operation change throug
Okay then, thanks. It's submited now. :)
Sorry. Unable to log into support to submit a ticket. My e-mail address is registered, but I don't think I've submitted a ticket on that support site before so, beats me.
Exactly! but at this point we aren't here settling for modds but influencing the game.
Play it and tell us how it affects the game. That will be informative and productive. and add some new points to the discussion.
So I may have accidentally made a mod that gives you access to the Ages of War and Ascension without needing to amass a fixed number of tech points. You still need to research along the desired path, but you aren't held back by ages so far as I can tell.
So I had a peek in Prefs.ini: MaxTextureAtlasResolution=4096x4096 It seems a little excessive and indeed perhaps one of the reasons why the display stops working when click-panning is that too much texture is being crammed in at once. Additionally, I had a peek in debug.err and it reports: Display Memory: 2809 MB This is for an AMD Radeon HD 5570 which only had 1GB of memory so... maybe a problem there?
Um. Well, in the two games that I have played, I was quite a bit into the Age of War before I was even remotely done with the early bits of the Altarian tech tree. I guess that if I hadn't bothered researching Defences (which are apparently useless!) I might have run into a bit of a wall.
I like the idea of a point-buy system for customising a homeworld. Great suggestion. Rather than having a unique entry in the XML for the civ capitol for each race, the stock races should load their own set bonuses on top of the basic capitol. That way, it's being dynamically generated for each race when you get in-game. Much more friendly to customisation and modding, in my opinion. Whether the bonuses for the stock races should all be available when you
The mod folder is a bust, unfortunately. Tried doing it in a modular way, tried doing it in the 'whole file these bits I've changed are in' way. At the moment it only works if you (backup first!) switch in a modified version of the game's ShipComponentDefs.xml file. But thanks for the encouragement. :)
You can mod the data files in the game's installation folder. But I really wouldn't recommend it, unless someone comes up with a proper mod manager for that - to save you from having to manually backup and rename files. The good news? When modding is properly implemented, I've got a life support mod standing by for you to try out. :)
So, turn 180ish, I click and hold to quickly check on my home system. I got a tooltip for Altaria showing the at-a-glance stats and after that nothing, the image was frozen but the music kept playing.
I've been playing the Rimworld alpha (it's a colony sim) and something I really like about it is this encouragement to personalise the settlement by giving it a name. Something I would like to see in GC3 at the very least is some sort of event which prompts you to choose a name for a colony - three are randomly chosen and presented, or you can enter your own. With a toggle in the options for people to turn it off, of course. And maybe on top of that, some stories
something that might help also is dialing back the AA in options.
That too. I was going to mention it but, honestly I always turn it off. Too much hit on performance for very little improvement at typical display resolutions these days.
Okay now we just need a picture of Samuel L. Jackson and a suitable caption which I'm sure you can think of ;)
Well here's a couple of things that seem to have really helped. Turn off the Gel UI. Yeah, I know it's pretty. But I'm trying to test the game, not pick up my jaw at the sight of pretties. Dial back the frequency of Autosave. I think one of the problems is that you don't get a notification about an auto-save, it just does it, and that itself might explain some of the start-of-turn slowness.
Peregrine, you're bang on the topic, really. I did a quick spreadhseet to compare the costs and mass and range and all that and well, like you said, they suck. What needs to happen, in my opinion is that they get smaller or at the very least, stay the same size. I did briefly consider just modding it in to see how it plays, but I'm not sure what I need to put in the mod folder - just the components I change or the whole file.
So I upgraded my Scout Mk 2 to a Mk 3, not realising that the Stellar Support module only fits into the Mk 3 design once before space runs out. Okay so, granted, Stellar Support is quite a big leap up in terms of how much range you get for the space you use, but two of the Environmental Support components beat one of Stellar Support. :P One suggestion comes to mind here. Instead of making components like these a fixed size for a fixed bonus, allow the player to scale lif
Something that I thought of just now. What would you guys think of a toggle-on-off cinematic camera view for ship movement? It would look sort of cool if you're doing a Let's Play video. Let's face it, the game could always use a bit more cool factor. :)
I honestly haven't used the planetary production wheels yet, because in the early game I feel like I need to stay balanced? I think the idea is that it will reduce the micro for those planets which are less suited to providing specialised support to your empire, or which have multiple tile bonuses that you want to take advantage of. Also, when there's actually a governor system in place, perhaps you will be able to switch between 'working on upgrading improvements
Okay here's a thought. Maybe the reason for the memory usage is that a lot of the map is animated. I mean sure, there's map animation in Civ V too, but I don't think it's quite as much as GC3. I sort of hope that there are plans to freeze animations which aren't in the field of view, if that hasn't been din e already
