I had one game where a faction on the other side of the galaxy had done a good job of expanding in a large isolated area. They had a lot of good military, but there was no way they were going to get it across the void before I teched out. They wanted to, but it just wasn't going to happen.
When that happens to me, usually they appear with 'magic' range extension. But not large fle
Well this has been up for a week, and 50 views, no replies. So either this is spot on tutorial or its so massively bad people are ignoring it. LoL.
Its ok i guess. But i am surprised he recommends building beefy ships with less engines? I have tried that in the past, then what inevitably happens is the AI sails right past them slow ships and attacks my less defended starbase
Oh yea, sometimes my drones from the carrier module don't appear in the battle,,,, and not only they don't appear, none come up in the destroyed ship list at the end, even when at least one of my other ships WAS destroyed! I have never had a battle where at least one drone was not destroyed when one of my other ships was destroyed - whenever the drones actually turn up for the battle that is!
One other tactic i use to stay ahead on the power rating is to set minor races to 'abundant' and no tech brokering on. and then whenever i trade with them, i often include a couple of their ships in the exchange - especially when they have less money. Yes their ships are insanely expensive, but i figure because it is a minor race, and they cannot sell my tech to anyone else, i got nothing to lose really! I also often buy ships off Any weak major races to
It is a pretty critical thing actually.... because if you miss selecting it, your pragmatic ideology progress will stall very badly. So it is always going to be the second pragmatic choice i make, second after the one that gives the three free constructors. Oh yea, and missionary center is usually my first choice in the good ideology for the same reason.... yea free colony ships and planets always try to tempt me, but i know what i have to have, a
I always put pirates on 'none' but only because i can never remember where they are. If my memory was better i would say pirates are good to have, and i heard they slow the AI down more than the player which is good.... only because i can never remember where they are, that is the problem, so have to have them off.... if they changed this recently then not good :(

I read the guide part 1 He is right that the early game 'is' the game. I find the AI and early game is very much like a 'dam' effect - When i was struggling with the game at first, the AI is quietly building up to a point where the dam bursts and it comes down to me with fleets i simply have no answer for, and i am like WFT? Restart. AI appearing with invincible fleets..... this is the problem for new players

Another strange thing i noticed about the random map generator is that if you put habitable planets on abundant but also put number of stars and number of planets on abundant, you actually get less habitable planets! and when i say 'less' i mean LESS, way less! with habitable planets still set on abundant, I found putting the number of stars and number of planets one level less than abundant seems to provide much better results.
I just turned particles on so I can see antimatter.
Did it change the performance much? For me, i could not see it affecting performance at all on or off.
Possibly "one per race" could mean that if you have five races in the game, (but probably have to include minors too) it will spawn five of each trade resource on the map? I highly doubt that is true, but if it was, then technically the description is 100% correct even though it is very deceptive.
That early cargo survey ship is exceedingly beneficial. If you can get it with promethium engine then it is faster than your starting survey ship and usually can travel further out depending on my sensor to range extension balance (usually two sensors). Sometimes i manage to get two promethium resources and put two prototype engines on it.... so damn awesome! For an early ship, it remains very useful for a very long time without upgrading, if ever! <

But seriously, the law of probability dictates that unusual things can occur on rare occasions, but not as a repeatable pattern of 'behavior' - that is not random, that is not RNG, something else is happening? Something that is 'cyclical' RNG being modified within a cyclical pattern, that is what i am seeing in this game. After 20 turns your chances of getting a colony ship cycles to 90% for the next 3 defended anomalies.</
Welcome to the world of RNG... where the derivative results/categorization of random numbers aren't going to always appear "random".
Did you mean "aren't going to always appear random" or "aren't going to ever appear random"??? :)
Hyperion Shrinker - when you raise it levels (by the surrounding Military buildings) it adds 5% per level. So if you put a +2 military building next to it, it will be level 2, which will give it an additional +10%. Here is the thread I found out about it from (just last week). https://steamcommunity.com/app/22686
Several interesting things i have noticed with random chance in this game.... the yellow triangle anomalies... the one that often gives you a free tech. Sometimes i will get 10/15 free techs in a row, sometimes i will go that many and get none. It seems to like small 'runs' either way, but not 'mixed' as you would expect? also if i save and restart the next day, that will definitely break any 'run' that was occurring. Weird eh? anyone else notice
1) You MUST do well during the colonization stage in the beginning and totally focus on getting as many good planets as you can. If you don't do this part well, you have no chance. You should be 100% focused on the beginning in just getting a colony ship to planets and claiming them. They (experts) suggest to build it on a planet of it's own and surround it by all the other Military buildings. This will allow you to get a boost of 50%+ to all your ships. I also look for a planet which has Military improvement tile (besides the buildings). if you can get both a +3 improvement along with a +2 improvement your cranking!!!! (rare to ge
