pretty good advice here! Disabling tech trading is normally a huge disadvantage, but if you have little idea of all the technology and don't know which techs can easily be sold verses those that are better off being withheld from the AI, well then yes, perhaps you are better with it off?
The map sizes are set so that they will fit on a 16 Gig PC, even if not with the best performance. I don't think there is any normal mode that would take up the resources cited in the OP. I suggest putting in a ticket with Stardock. Something wrong is happening between your system memory allocation and the game itself. Their diagnostics might hold a clue.
hmmm i would have gues
That is possible, I have seen the ai be at war with two people but have all its fleets on my border while we are at peace.
Ahhh the good old 'player love', yep the AI never gets tired of that! lol (They just want to be near you, ships, starbases, colonies,,, you name it!)

I noticed the getting repaired attacking a weak enemy trick! It is somewhat handy, but i am still not sure that makes it worth its hull space compared to other things? I usually use it because i have assumed it reduces the build time of the ship compared to having that space used by primary defense modules?.... but when i think about it, i do not know for sure that is the case?

It is kind of weird when you think of the huge list of features that could be included in the game, and the battle of compromise to decide which ones get in and which ones miss out.... meanwhile that is going on they spend resources adding thrusters to the game and they are of no use? Ii is difficult to imagine the original people who first proposed the idea of thrusters had this outcome in mind?? Just imagine the idea of thrusters being debated and everyone debating it
On higher difficulties I make a dedicated Large Hull that is all 'resource' bound electronics, Speed Boost, Jamming, Accuracy, Shield, Armor buffs and of course all weapon buffs. I would note that of all of them the Beam and Missile buffs are really Over Powered. Seriously. Put them all on a hull, give it 4 or 5 Thrusters and engines to keep up, heavily

What i noticed is that battles with high end weaponry are decided too fast, so repair modules are moot. Am i right thinking that?

I have had quite a large race surrender to me (friendly surrender). They were right over the other side of the map, with a powerful enemy in between. so i could not reinforce it,,,, and i expected it to be overrun in short order. As it turns out, there was enough ships and transports and starbases etc etc, i was able to immediately launch an offensive and start taking enemy planets. I should not be able to go on the offensiv

You should be making your defensive ship an 'escort' and your offensive ships 'capital' even if their tiny! I usually use the jammer that dousn't use a resourse, but in all honesty i have not observed that it seems to make any difference at all? Probably when combined with some of the support ship jammer modules it is better? The main reason i use it at all is Because the defensive modules are damn nasty on the build time, very nasty,,, so an

Thanks for the replies.... I will try that shipyard trick, thanks. i don't think there is much point in reporting a bug because it is an older saved game from before the recent updates? Besides, I also have an upgrading bug going in this game as well.... that is, ships never complete an upgrade unless the game is reloaded. They do visually seem to complete the upgrade.... the upgrading icon mark goes away, the defense and attack ratings are reported... only when y

Hi guys I got one planet that mysteriously decided to stop building.... I wonder if i accidentally clicked on something, what kind of things should i look out for? I have never touched the production balance thingy in the government tab. All other planets produce normally. The other interesting thing is that it reports the number of turns to complete... its quite advanced planet so many things only take 1 or 2 turns,,,,, i was so busy rush buying

Update: So that game i mentioned in my last post above... it has turned into the best game of galciv3 i have ever seen!! The Kryn have been able to consistently apply pressure on me the whole game without weakening off.... even when the Alterian resistance came at them from behind! I nearly thought the drengin were gonners at one point because they ended up at war with the iridium corporation who are the most powerful race in the game. Bu

Well i guess if you don't understand how range works then that is going to disable your ability to function in the game more than anything else. Presumably you will not want to mess with designing ships at this stage, so the simplest option to extend range is to build starbases in the direction you want to extend range.... but be advised, the AI loves to destroy starbases, so you have to defend it. Really the bulk of what you learn in this gam

I'm just curious.... i have been under heavy attack by the Kryn,,, My fleets are more powerful than theirs, but i have few, not enough to defend all my area.... The Kryn seemed to have an uncanny ability to sneak fleets in wherever i am week and start destroying my starbases until my fleet catches up and destroys them. So i responded by sending out sensor ships along my boarder. The Kryn pretty much stopped attacking ent

i have this problem as well.... but my game is a saved game from before the patch! Anyhow, in the early game, i wanted to upgrade one of my experimental sensor ships. But i had zero extra Thalium.... so i first have to upgrade my sensor ship to a constructor ship to recover the thalium and then upgrade it again to the upgrade i really wanted all along. Then it kept refusing to let me upgrade from the constructor ship and i could not work out why a
