What I don't understand is why they felt growth needed to be increased in the first place??? If you used growth bonuses and e.g. colonial hospital buildings line it seemed reasonably fast already to me, you don't need to now. I haven't decided if I like the change or not yet, but it seems like there's a lot less decision making when it comes to population, it's not important anymore as it takes care of itself.

This is a terrific observation. I inquired about this myself a few months ago. According to their stats the vast majority of games are played on smaller maps, and it makes sense to tailor improvements toward the greatest number of players. The interpretat

I don't want to reduce micro by having the AI think and decide for me (as they did with planet governors). I want to reduce micro with automation systems that execute my decisions automatically. I don't want AI automation, I want mechanical automation. The latter is what the game needs. But the former is ea

It seems to me the coercion system will penalize the player for adopting the correct strategy. That is to focus their production and specialize their planets. It's going to be a double whammy as well since it affects the bonus received from happiness. I think this system will cause a lot of frustration for players, they won't know how to manage their economy. With the removal of the wheel that's the case already, I've had people message me asking me t

I'd make nebulas larger and nearly impassable without tech. It would make the map a lot less open, military starbases might actually become useful GC3 could really benefit from some sort of genuine "terrain" features. I realize in reality space might be vast and empty but since when is most of the taken for granted features of Space 4X games limited by reality...

Loaded up the game, two things immediately put me off from trying the opt in, though a lot of your under the hood changes sound pretty good. 1. The Focuses can only be changed by entering each and every individual planet screen. You need to add focus switches on the colonies list on the main screen and on the colonies screen on the govern civilization screen and global (all planets) focus switches somewhere as well. You could save players from a l

I guess I'll say my thoughts on the 1.4 changes in Fridays Stream... I'm glad the planetary management wheel has gone it will reduce micromanagement (fiddling with a wheel takes much more time than clicking a focus switch) but Stardock could do a heck of a lot more to reduce unnecessary micromanagement and time saving if this is the economy system they decide to use. If Stardock are going to use a focus system we should be able to switch focus without havi
