I think I figured it out. I moved the ship design files from the mod area into the game's directory structure itself. I've done both under the general designs folder or the DLC/Designs folder and in either case, no crashes, no issues. Just loaded and reloaded 9 games, no issues with selection or crash on speaking with the Bazaar. So looks like you have to trick the game into thinking these designs are "Core". This makes sense why things were work

I mean... I'm a little confused. 1) I've got custom blueprint in GRM forever without an issue. This was to rectify Stardock's accidental invalidation of huge hull carriers. (I forget the exact bug I found, I should check if its still there!) 2) Why it would it work at all the first time you loaded? At any rate, mercenaries has 3 files needed to produce. A set of blueprints, a shipset file pointing to said blueprints, and a Merc
Ok. So I took your recommendation and removed the DLC folders/etc. and just used Designs/Gfx. That didn't hurt anything. When in the Bazaar menu, if your lucky and happen to start with a custom merc selected as first pick, I can hire it no problem and they appear. Upon selecting another customer Merc, insta-crash. This was definitely not happening a few hours ago, as I had built 2 custom mercs in one game prior. I'm starting to think I might just have ot
Unfortunately. For no, apparent reason... If I try to select a custom merc in the bazaar menu, the game crashes. After this was working fine for hours, and with no file changes made. Not quite certain what to do, but I guess I'll try a reinstall.
I'll be producing custom mercenaries for your game utilizing GRM! I have a BETA package available for any brave souls. It adds four Mercenaries. http://www.nexusmods.com/galacticcivilizations3/mods/18/?tab=2&navtag=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.nexusmods.com%2Fgalacticcivilizations3%
Hey there! I've updated GRM for the new version and Mercs, I will be giving GSM a looksy over the next few days. Thanks for reporting this! I appreciate it!
Hey there! Your design folder is under My Documents/GC3 Designs Something very similar to that.
GRM 3.0 and 3.0 Add-Ons Released! A ) Compatible with Mercs! B ) Updates races, fixes some text issues! C ) Adds a new Major Race and Shipset! D ) A new color scheme or two! E ) Fulgar now have fully customized Starbases! WOOT! Will be working on unique Mercs material now!
Alrighty, so I believe tomorrow is release for Mercs and 1.6 of standard edition. The plan: 1) With 1.6, the recent ship designer crash bug should be fixed, I'll quickly finish some work I had started for the Fulgar Tradeholds to have their own custom starbases. 2) Update GRM to 2.2, which will add Starbases to Fulgar, introduce the Aquilarans, and otherwise ensure compatibility. 3) Build and launch GRM-Mercs 1.0, compatibility for Mercs specifically. Will
So perhaps you can avoid some of this issue by using less races? Or, less GRM shipset races at least. But that is lame.
@Seilore, thank you for the clarification. Funny how memory tricks you eh? I'm actually quite pleased that StarDock is doing something NEW, with GC3 Mercs, that they haven't done before in GC, that was definitely one of the critiques from reviewers and some folks here, when it was first released, that the game didn't push the envelope on its predecessor. This is TRYING to do that... Is it my cup of tea? Well, yes and no. As a player, No, it adds very
Sooo, I rarely comment on these posts, because usually they devolve... but today I just can't resist (perhaps because my name got dropped lol). 1) Thanks for the compliment. 2) Thanks for venting frustration in a mature way. I would consider the following excuses. Note, they are excuses. Excuses kind of a get bad rap though, "I couldn't get groceries because I was shot in the leg" is a really GOOD excuse... but still an excuse, ya
Thanks! I'll look into it. I thought I had fixed that, but, seemingly not. It tends to be race specific so if you know which one, let me know.
Sweet! Thanks, looking forward to an easy update then.
I'm pretty certain. I have about 750+ templates and I've never seen the AI use one unless it had components.
PSSTTTT Any of you people with the 1.6 VIP update or Mercenaries Beta see if GRM is compatible or not ? [e digicons]O:)[/e]
I deal with this issue as well. 1) Save your designs as templates. 2) After a game, go into your design folder and delete all of your designs that are not a template (unique naming systems for templates is advised) 3) In a new game, the AI will not use any of your designs. They only use designs that have equipment, not raw templates and they don't use designs you created in the current game. Its extra work, but its how to avoid
Any clue how to get beta access? Just a matter of preordering ya think? Cuz Like. I wants it. lol
Well, I can't say whether GRM will be compatible or not. We just don't have enough info. It doesn't SEEM like they are messing with existing ship designs or such, so it should actually be fine, but who knows.
Hey guys! Quick note, there will be a new ship set coming soon, and I'll be updating the main GRM package after the next version. This will likely be the last non-expansion required version of GRM. Once Mercenaries is out, I'll be working rapidly to update GRM to be compatible, and adjusting the races to utilize the new traits and assets. Going to be fun!
Hi there! Sorry for the lateness of my reply. I've been out of the country (USA) on a business trip for the past week or so. Regarding this issue, it could be multifaceted. For one, I've heard of a shipyard/designer bug that causes crashing in the latest version. With the maps though, I have not heard of that, and I'm not having any such issue myself. I recommend submitting a support ticket with StarDock. Failing that, I would go as far as a complete
The problem is that the resource settings and terrain settings are tied, and that this relationship isn't at all clear to the casual user (sure if you go into the files you can figure that out). People are putting the Resources level to rare, because of the sheer ungodly amounts of durantium any other setting gives you, but then annoyed that they can't find any elerium, and only occasional antimatter. When possibly, they wanted nearly equal levels of all three to be present.</
It perhaps would be nice if some resources were physically rare on the map, but easily produced the resource, IE, there are only 3 Elerium resources on the map, but each actually generates 2-3 Elerium (with a basic mining base, and each upgrade perhaps generating an additional 2-3). Making them rare and precious to grab, but also worthwhile to do so. Right now, its so rare, and you get one Elerium which isn't enough to do anything cool. Just a
Glad you liked the review! I'm not certain what you mean about this. "also do you have a thought about making your own custom faction (not for the mod, but somthing a bit more personal ship set. (with ton of experimenting and refining. ?)" I don't really have a personal shipset, but, my personal favorites that I made are the Ukaros, Terran Sovereignty, and Clan Tiamat (Zrenrakka)
Ask and you shall receive friend. Excellent work! Also, I don't really have a set I would re-do, so much as I wouldn't have done them in the first place and would do different sets that are more important to me. The Veygar do come to mind though, because my methods were not as clear back then, and I made some major component mistakes, some of those ships can't be
