I keep forgetting that not everyone plays on "epic lengh" settings. The time scales would kill my empire if I had a significant number of planets trying to build ships at the same time. Normally, if the planet size is below 10-11 I don't even bother. Some of the twelves and above usually only for the early game and then I switch to the larger planets for ship creation. I don't understand the constructer rush. I've always found it to be a waste.

Bah. I shall defy you and find myself enjoying the alpha with a sense of happy curiousity and discovery. Then I'll take delight in screwin' the mechanics up as hard as possible.
The system isn't "untested". It's been the mainstay of strategy games for, oh say, ever. Which is why Stardock made such an impression with their double-queues. (I'm trying to find a joke in there somewhere...) All the popular ones that everyone on here has waxed philosophic about use only one build queue. I highly doubt this is going to be some sort o' disaster regarding gameplay. I even highly doubt it will impact GalCiv gameplay much, if at all. How many her
Maybe, if needed/required, make the Starport an inherent asset within the original colony tile?
The idea is to still have the notifications, just have them pop-up elsewhere on the screen. Away from important features of the UI (like the END TURN button).
#19 HAAAAAAAA!
deep breaths...deep breaths... I've gotten over Xcom and even found some enjoyment when I let myself come to terms that it wasn't an X-com game. No need to murderize nomotog... deep breaths...deeeeeeeep breaths...
I also don't see too much of a change regarding the sliders and build qeus. The circle thingamajig is simply all those sliders in one form. And, if I'm to be honest (but not to pretty girls), it looks prettier, more user friendly and quicker to translate. It'll serve the exact same use, me thinks. One slider controlled the other and those controlled the others, etc. As for the planetary build ques, apparently we're losing the ability to have seperate o
Various games I play through Steam get interfered with via Steam notifications: friend alerts/requests covering minimaps, turn buttons, etc. Is there a way, short of turnin' 'em off completely, that ya'll (Stardock) can change their appearance locations or whatever the correct phrase would be?
I'm straight-up renaming the survey ship NX-01.
The new Xcom is a better tactical game, with the global simulation thrown directly out of the window. I would say that goes into the realm of "feature removal", and it makes the game less enjoyable and more mechanically predictable. Less sandbox, more rails. Which is not so good, IMHO.
I'll happily argue against it being a "better tactical" when not only were most tactical features "streamlined out" b
Sounds good! I already threw mah monies at ya'll so obviously I trust yuz guys. 'Cept Soren. Name just sounds evil, don't it?
Yeah, I gots friends that prefer smaller maps for a variety o' reasons. Some just 'cause that's what they got time for. I keep tellin' 'em to ditch their spouses... I've done smaller ones now and then. Drives me nuts. :P I tend to place exploration and creation above combat 'cause combat is a foregone conclussion for me. 'Cause I'm super-hyper-duper-intelligent. And god-like. Right up until I meet human opponents.
I dunno... The latest X-com was dumbed down yet still would have worked for me if it hadn't been for the illogical physics behavior/drawn actions (whatever). Whatever behaviors and animations to signify actions are there shouldn't break the physics of the created universe, breaking immersion. For the company it often means attracting new people (read: additional) to the franchise to which they can then build upon and create "better" in-depth (again, whatever)
Or maybe some mechanic to confer flagship and/or class status upon the first ship built of those certain classes. EDIT: Just thought about how easy it would be to take advantage of such a system. So it's okay for me to have it but not you guys.
Faction and Hero creation - creating entire histories and back stories with complimentary skill sets and design. Exploration and exploitation. Encountering my created factions - and then regretting it. Having the game switch things up through random events - though, usually, it just delays the inevitable and gives me something to do while building. The tactical combat (huzzah!) - since I'm an ungrateful and enti
It's simple: They need to have a pre-Beta Beta to make sure the game is ready for the general public for Beta release. A Gamma, if you will. Duh!
Holy shit, I've always been turning anti-alliasing off . *headdesk*
I loved doing Elder Scrolls Online beta and having people bitch 'n moan about how the game shouldn't be out yet. I had to completely turn off and ignore the chats because too many of my braincells were committing suicide.
Well, a lot of games for PS3 are buggy. Something 'bout the translating from one code to the next, etc. Skyrim for the 360 and PC was flawless in comparison. Since (as far as I know) GalCiv 3 will be a PC and Mac product I don't think there'll be too many worries. *cough* WoM *cough cough*
Welcome to Let's Play: Galactic Civilizations 3! First we'll just...um...okay and over there, that is...uh...sorta... And we've crashed. Please tune in tomorrow for another exciting installment!!1!
Egads. I'm going to need to get a new computer. For one game. This reminds me of the 486 days.
I would like to see more severe diminishing returns regarding the number of starbases built in one area/sector. It always irked me that the idea was to use resources to create same starbases right next to each other instead of merely upgrading and/or making the original one larger/better to deal with what-have-y
Spore http://www.spore.com/what Start microscopic, take over your planet and then search out others. War, play nice...do whatever.
How will the choices impact other productive values? What about population support, etc.? Having more micro-management will appease and gladden those that love it (I do) and being able to simply use a universal control will allow those that do not (boo, them) to be able to ignore that aspect and continue on with the game. It'll be a win-win. However, I'd only want the "in-depth" option if it would actually have telling effects.
