I learned something on another post - the % bonuses to morale are applied after LEP, not before. Therefore I think this is the bug plaguing all of you LEP Ranters. Yes, a large LEP is hard to overcome, if the largest non-% improvement is an age of expansion tech (stadiums). high end starbase techs are great, but you shouldnt be forced to use 5 starbases on each planet (or more, with extending their range) to control LEP. All of the age of war an

Good point, but the devs I think want each initial system to have a total of 16 points max. Currently 11 Earth, 5 Mars. Want a 3rd planet, it should affect Earth and Mars (albiet, needing the tech eliminates most of the arguement). Maybe a class 3-4 planet, and turn Mars to class 4 as well?

aha!! This must be why the LEP boys are ranting. The HUGE proportional bonuses you get to help combat LEP (Entertainment Capital, Virtual world, Megaresort) are nullified because of this. stadiums by themselves (an age of expansion tech FFS) cannot overcome large LEP to get you a decent positive value to then multiply. I would then consider it a bug. those % multipliers should only multiple on your positive morale, and at the end, subtract

as I dont play insane maps, can someone share these "high LEP" values, seen on insane maps, in conditions where you: a ) early game - have a fair share of the galaxy, colony rush has ended and ZOI borders are pretty much set b ) mid game - taken over an empire or two, but the game is definitely still a challange as other races still as powerful or more than you, still out there c ) end game - when you dominate, down hill, just a matter of point and click, no factors sh

If one of the shipyards contributing has the Hyperion Logistics building, that ship built at that yard gets the reduction. All fleets enjoy the added logistics given to the HL building's Adjaceny bonuses (where you see below the -1, you see +X logistics as well). A cheesy way to get more out of it, is to put the HL building on a world with very low manufacturing points. You can then Rotate it between shipyards. The HL building only need be tied to

In another thread, I showed how 3 approval buildings can give you LOTS of approval, well over 70 if you are "full benevolent". Let me ask this, on your insane map game with 165 planets, how many points of malus are you getting from LEP? -30, -60, -120???

One thing I've caught onto when people are doing their examples. Marigoldran, I wouldnt expect you to know, as you have stated that you have never built an approval building :) There are buildings better than stadium. Industrial Sector is age of ascension. Stadium is age of expansion. What about the other techs? Amusement Park provides +15% approval and +1 for each level, +2 Approval to Adj Approval buildings Me

It wont happen. And having approval problems with such a small empire sounds like you are missing out on something. Unless your pop is like +25 on each planet. LEP is mainly meant to be an inefficiency malus, and that intent will forever remain in the game. Balancing is the key, so all races, all traits, all types of play styles are on a 'fairly' even playing field. And the only perfectly valid point is that at extremely high pop levels, appar

Patriotic and Malevolence Level II simply break it. I fully see the intent of rewarding such a depressed and angry society of warmongers by taking planets, but money and power cannot fulfill happiness on its own. The mongrel are missing out on the sex, drugs, and rock and roll, art, music, sports, etc, all offered down the corner at your local 'approval' building. :) In all seriousness, the devs WANT approval to mean something, and have dire consequ

I'm slowly getting to bigger maps, but my last game on gigantic turned out very depressing. I was surrounded by 3 good guys, and the other 3 bad guys were just tossing off. By turn 150, I had the highest galactic power research, economy, and manufacturing. I think I need to try with more races, and try minors for a change. My point however is that when I create a sensor boat, I personally do it for my tactical surroundings on a front. And I l

very true Marigold. I just fail to see the point of the mechanic, as it offers no value, except for the trivial 1% pointed out above. It would be a more useful mechanic to have Research Project simply put 100% manpower, except current economic, into research. Cancelling this option puts it back the way it was before. Same for economic stimulus, moving current manufacturing manpower all to economic. I think we have all been in the situation where we were

@Naselus - well said, without proprietary formulas!! :) . If the capping point is 5 approval vs. farms, then the approval malus should be increased far higher than -25% when at 0% approval. Frankly, in a society where 100/100 people are completely pissed off and depressed, I dont see how any work would get done, including any bedroom action.

I think you have a poor way of explaining yourself. OK, let me use some real numbers, because I doubt anyone wants to follow your equation: 51.7 base research (if 100%), +400% research bonuses 52.0 base manufacturing (if 100%), +195% manf bonuses If I put 100% into research I get 257 research If I enable research project, and put 1% (and I had to spend a minute, trying to find a fraction of that percent as well), I get 260.3

I have no problem with the resource-based weapons being OP. The problem is the resource distribution. I'd LOVE to get a fargin game with even resources, to allow myself (and the AI), to have utmost flexibility. I set Nebulas to Abundant and Asteroids to rare, and there is still a crap load of durantium out there, and just one Elurium in my ZOI once borders are set. In one of my first few games, I spam mined Durantium and had a full fleet of Durantium. The e

I suspect steam doing a lot of things myself. I havent tried it, but is there a way these days to play "offline" from steam? I know there was a way years ago, when internet was not "reliable".

Tourism is FREE once you get the tourism tech. Get that ASAP. If you like to warmonger right away, keep an eye on the ever increasing value. As far as improvements, forget about it. Its not balanced well, the improvements dont even pay for themselves, unless you park the building on a huge tourist terrain buff....or you have a lot of influence already. Or if you have lots of global tourist buffs, it just might break even. But if you

OK, I see the point of these. Have extra manufacturing, pump it into something else. Birthing Subsidies is a godsend, and Cultural Festival, well, I'm using that to fook over the #1 power player right now, who happens to not be a warmonger (Iconian). But Research Project and Economic Stimulus are BORKED. I tried it on a planet where I had ALL Manufacturing (and yes Marigold, an approval building, as well as some farms), and I tried to see which was
