Well, we are only talking about the basic hull, which all Navy's have. When the extras are added there is theoretically a lot of room for diversity. As for realism, In Larry Niven's known universe, nearly all races use the Pierson Puppeteer Hull. After all, the humans gave the galaxy star drive, so why not basic design.

I didn't know you could rename individual enemy ships but assuming you can, it would probably not affect future ships since they would be a default design. You can design and name your own ships but you cannot change the name of any core design. Of course when/if you start editing the files almost anything is possible.
Every good planet needs a fleet. Once it is gone you are pretty much at their mercy
Once I started including starbases into my games I found whatever win strategy I use, the bases are very helpful not to mention, owning the resources are key too. Oh yeah! The resources are critical for a player of my low skills and don't forget the anomalies. If you don't think they are important, watch the AI snap them up. I sometimes ignore
1) You can have as many new models as you wish. The core models cannpt be changed or deleted but there is no limit on user options. 2) don't know that one but the ships can be colorized on the full spectrum. 3) The bar that you mention is available as an extra. Lights are available but they don't blink. There are many attachment points but wouldn't you know, they leave off the one that I need. There are ways to alter attachment points but no way to create a new
I like BSG and watch it every week but I sometimes want to puke when they go down the path of moral relativism.
depends on what you mean. You build up soldiering points, elite troops, etc and the invasion of a high population undefended planet is not exactly a walk over. but.... there is no way an undefended planet can fire on the invasion transport or any other ship.
Haven't read Riverworld but it is on my list. I have read almost everything that Asimov wrote, most of it too long ago. For great Scifi read Peter Hamilton's Nights Dawn Trilogy and the Hyperion series by Dan Simmons.
You should be good to go
If I understand you correctly, the short answer for your second question would be no. If a faction appears (The I League) composed of malcontents from the Arceans or whoever, they become just another Minor race with perhaps a bit more ambition. You can establish relations with both and ally with both but you would have to choose if one ever declares war on the other. There is no special bond between them and the Arceans and they can never be reunited except by conquest Yo
I am not sure I have read the last couple, are they worth a look, They go downhill, I'm sad to report. The last one Ringworld's Children was a only a slight improvement over the previous couple that obsessed on Rishathra. The original was very good. Reading it gave me agoraphobia.
personally, I usually play without a costume
you watch it on a battle cam
1) Yes there are various nasty things that you can do in conjunction with invasion. They do not affect you rep but the sure screw up the quality of the planet you are invading. 2) I think not. You research Planitary invasion, Bombardment, Marines, Shock Troops, etc but you don't build them they become automatically part of your invasion force. 3) All the stuff is there in the invasion force but you have no tactical control. You invade and either succeed or fail based on var
Ive never had a planet that needed to be filled up on +morale buildings and still not come close to being at 100% approval. I also play as Populist usually but I also push the envelope on taxes. Moral can be controlled okay if you get a moral SB or two and research the moral techs quickly. Once you get VR centers one (with approval bonus) or tw
Interesting At any rate, I've been playing on 'challenging' difficulty and haven't had much problem with income despite avoiding farms like the plague. It's just a matter of building econ improvements instead, getting a +econ race bonus, building econ mining starbases, etc. This is the conclusion that I am coming to as well. Farms Su
In the beta there seems to be no penalty for choosing whatever in the random events. The reward/penalty for the three choices is often not important enough to push you one way or the other. I am usually a neutral player but if the reward is sufficient I will occasionally choose the dark choice.
Disclaimer: this example was playing at beginner level or I wouldn't have been so far ahead. In a recent game one of the beat up majors started coming to me for assistence. I was far, far ahead in military and the game was not in doubt so I decided to see if I could turn their fortunes around. I gave them 3 fast powerful ships that were at least 3 levels above what anyone else had. One of the ships was used to win a couple of battles and then squandered the ship on a hopele
Well, what do we know about the metabolism of 23rd century humanity?
Yes, so many things may be changed in the release version. I am annoyed not to have the ability to spy on minors while being told that I should. This may be corrected in the release version.
When you name a ship after designing it any future ships of the same design will be named the same with a different number. For instance if you name your ship Exelcior the first would be Exelcior xxxx and each new ship of that design would be Exelcior with a different number. I give my ships names as follows: (tiny) Lite fighters, Insects- (small) Heavy fighters, birds- (medium) frigates, reptiles-(large) Cruisers, animals-(huge) battleships, Gods-Worker ships, people. I also prefix t
you will get to see that 2 of their Heavy Cruisers as a fleet have 10 Beam, 14 Armor and 30/30 hit points, How does that work? When I observe an alien battle, I can see what weapons are being used and what defenses are in place but I have never seen anything that gives me a number on the weapons, armor or hit points with no espionage.
I am assuming that the game will allow spying on the minors. If not I just wish they would take out the advice that I should increase my espionage to find out about them.
I have wondered if there is any limit to the length of a ship. Unless there is a built in limit you could keep adding extention attachments until the ship is a sector long. As far as the abstract is concerned I am sure the game doesn't care how the ship is configured. Engines and guns backward or cockeyed it will still perform the same.
I found the OS/2 version at Compumax around 1995-96 and was totally bummed that it was not available for windows. Bought GC1 3-4 years ago looking for something to fill the void of MoO and compare with my all time favorite game SMAC. (I still play it occasionally) GC1 was a great game but did not surpass SMAC. I think GC2 will do the trick.
