Does that mean there are red and green Altarians?
Phaedyme
Okay, regarding evolution and Altarians, that's in GalCiv materials. The Mithrilar and Draginol (the Mithrilar who was hanging out on Altar) are explained in links from this thread: https://forums.galciv2.com/127754 Altarians look like humans because Draginol ended up there and made them look like humans, I think through passive influence. There were also wars involving the Dread Lords and the Arnor, resulting in a cataclysm

If the enslavers really believe that the enslaved will become extinct if not enslaved and the enslaved believe that they would prosper if not enslaved, how to you judge which is true? It is better not to judge than to judge incorrectly and have to endure the unintended consequences.
You can't really go wrong with a policy like "slavery and genocide are bad."
I feel that no person or group of people can be described as good or evil in absolutist terms. It's too subjective. Adolf Hitler is widely seen as an evil man, but along with wanting to commit genocide on the Jews and having a relaxing afternoon drive into Poland, France, and the USSR, he also liked kids (as long as they weren't Jewish or Slavic) and dogs - things you'd normally associate with a 'good' person. I'm not saying Hitler wasn'
As much as I like science fiction I am not yet prepared for a science fiction 4x game that proposes that cold is something other than the absence of heat. :)
Well, there's a difference between allowing trade and allowing a military presence.
Of course one could cross every border, i don't think anyone suggested a "force field" or something like that. Crossing a border just means you may get the party which space you violate pissed of on you. It's your decision if you ignore that or if you say "ups, sorry, was a mistake". A civ should just have the right to say who has permission to pass and who not and to decide what to do about it. As a human player, may
Invisible force field? What? Borders are enforced by the presence of military, of border police, and diplomacy. Anyone can violate borders as an act of military aggression, but you should be able to tell other empires to back off if they do not want a war. I mean, in GalCiv2, the non-player empires can tell you to get out of their territory, but for some reason I don't recall options to tell them to leave.
Heh. You are correct. :D Just saw this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hgqoB2kk8f8 I suspect what the poster above was talking about when he said 10 Earthlike planets was the 10 planets identified by the Kepler space telescope. Of course statistical extrapolation leads us to the conclusion that there are billions of Earthlike planets in this galaxy.

This only annoyed me in one of the campaigns in GalCiv 2: I think the first one, where you're allied with the Altarians. Except they just build influence starbases all around the Terrans until the Dread Lords drop by.
