I'm still really amped to see Society reach the light of day. It was a fantastic concept in 2006 and I still believe the original vision is relevant in 2012. I hope we hear some news regarding this game in the coming months. I've been playing Age of Empires: Online recently, and the art direction bears a resemblance to the concept renders of Society buildings from way back when. The game-play doesn't seem quite as grand as what was envisioned for Socie

Wow. Five pages of comments later, and I reach the end. I haven't reached enlightenment though, just a little amazed at the seeming inability some demonstrate to comprehend a message explained so many times.. To the topic at hand however, I for one am looking forward to Elemental Fallen Enchantress. I don't think the distinction of 'stand-alone' really has that much to do with anything: Its still an expansion (i.e. additional content, and gameplay elements) to the origi

An RPG from Stardock.. That would be awesome. I wonder if thats the angle Brad has envisaged for the long-awaited 'Society' , which Stardock were planning back in late 2005? I think it would work well as an MMO-RTS-RPG. A variation on Elemental but with a persistent and more personal involvement. If, however, it IS another new game from Stardock, then I'll be even more excited. [e digicon

Love the AI abuse tips [e classic];P[/e] I'm by no means a hardcore player of Sins, but its one of my favorite casual day-off entertainments and I love the fact that Stardocks continued support and patching 1.5 years after the games release, results in a game that is remaining continually interesting and whose gameplay experience is still evolving. ( here's my 3 cheers for the coming update and looking forward to Diplomacy (ver

Another great reason to renew my Object Desktop subscription [e classic];)[/e] Nice work, assuming it integrates well with most older skins this will indeed bring new life and possibilities to every windowblinds skin. This feature would work across all operating systems I assume? Not just Vista or Win7?

Loving the application so far - Although I haven't actually connected with anyone else for a game through it yet. Potential Bug on my Computer: The 'Tick Boxes' throughout the application do not actually tick and untick. When clicked they briefly display an arrow (while the mouse button is held down) then the arrow disappears - this happens in both click states (i.e. I click it twice in a row and it still displays no arror except when the mouse is held down.) I'm running Windo

Wow. I saw a Hands-On of these notebooks on Gizmodo... I DIDN'T know that Stardock had done a Windowblinds interface for them though! I've always been a fan of the aluminium bodies on the Macbook Pro's. When these 'Envy' machines are released and reviewed it'll be nice if they turn out to be a reasonable PC alternative to the Macbook line of laptops - in terms of durability, battery-life and performance.

What a journey - it must seem incredible as the dev team to look back and realise how much HAS changed when you see the game in progress day-in and day-out. In terms of Society - Glad to hear its still in the works. I've been crossing my fingers and praying to the God of Gaming that Society will see the light of day SOON!! I seriously can't wait for a game of that scale. I would imagine the lessons that Stardock will learn from Elemental, the game-play mechanics, graphical en

While I haven't used RTP yet (no beta invite), the suggestions you make above make a lot of sense. [e classic]:congrat:[/e] Having a visual system of colour coded icons to represent the different aspects of a player's profile gets a +1 from me. Would allow me to pick friends to play a game from those suggested, based on my mood and time available to me. In general I think the whole idea of RTP is great and I'm looking forward to joining in on the fun and seeing how the pro

There was a Collector's Edition of Demigod? Was that what Pre-order's got or was that boxed only copies which were CE? A DemiGod MyColors Theme.. Sounds good. I have to admit though, I wasn't particularly keen on the Sins of a Solar Empire theme. Felt too clunky and in my face to be truly usable. Hope the DG theme (When it comes!) is much nicer. Anticipation: its like Christmas morning as a child, but Santa leaves an 'I Owe You'...
simply ***WARNING: Bad Car Analogy*** if i want a car i go to the showroom and not the marina.
Oh, yes! Can we play the analogy game [e digicons]:D[/e] I see your point though. Its a tough job having so many people with different perspectives to please when making a game - fortunately SD are really good about not including everything and the kitchen sink just because they can. They put in whatever will make a game more fun to play while increasing the immersion i

The game looks impressive. Its good to hear its also fun to play - and by the sounds of it, addictive! Glad to see this is an Impulse game with worldwide release. [e classic]:congrat:[/e] Consulting my bank balance though, I think its going to come down to choosing between this and Majesty 2 (both come out similar times). My personal vote is for Majesty 2 at the moment, although anyone who has played the both and has advice to offer, I'm listening.

The PAX Preview's Frogboy displayed in his Dev Journal of Stardock's Elemental: War of Magic were pretty impressive to say the least. Among the many things to catch my attention was the screen-capture of the ( Sovereign's Spell Research System. ) As a fan of trading-card games (TCG's) in real-life, the fact they have chosen to represent spells using a 'card' style representation
The Publisher has to opt in for that as well. AFAIK, no publisher has so far.
Ahh. Well ain't that just annoying. Still, Impulse seems to be making inroads into publishers more traditional thinking over-time. Hopefully the situation will change.
...The server/upload capacity required to provide the game to the entire world at once would be way to expensive.
While the cost/benefit situation may be true, consider the fact that Stardock DO provide many titles, including their own, for worldwide digital distribution. In that sense they already have the infrastructure to support worldwide sales. (I assume this would be scalable as demand increases) It is simply a matter of licensing restricti

I am one of those forum lurkers, supportive of Stardock, who regularly read the dev journals and comments for Stardock's Games, without actually making a comment of my own. In this case I think its important to be clear in my support and encouragement of Stardock's efforts in correcting the issues with Demigod. To clarify my perspective: I pre-ordered Demigod through Impulse when it was still in early beta. I played it - casually - before release. I liked it. At this time, I still have

Tailsgirl, I'm assuming the idea is that Keepsafe will take back-up copies of monitored file types at pre-set regular intervals.. Meaning that when the lightning hits and your computer's power goes down, you might only lose the last 5 minutes of work instead of say the last twenty minutes since you saved it last, by restoring the Keepsafe back-up record of that file. (Correct me please If I'm wrong Stardock people ^_^)

I'm just curious... When gaming transitions to Impulse will their no longer be any membership system as their currently is under totalgaming? So no yearly subs like under Drengin, No token discounts as under tg.net, just a digital store which we can choose to buy games through if we want? (i.e. there will be no advantage to being a 'repeat' customer or frequent purchaser?) I guess Stardock is trying to open things up for third-parties to invest in their system, but s

*grin* Brad, I gotta confess you sound seriously riled up by this - if it didn't come through in your post, it certainly stands out in the comments on this article. ^_^ I entirely agree with you on all the points you made here. As you've stated, it applies for all digital products and services available today, not just Stardock products. Although obviously the issue is personal for you Brad, when it comes to Stardock products which you have conceived, designed, produced and updated through

I realise Stardock has Society on the backburner because of resources... It's been a year since anything was posted here however. Surely there has been SOME progress Stardock? Surely you can tantalise me with some news or share an update on when this game will begin to ramp up in the development schedule?

Love to get an update on what's happening with Society at the moment..
