I am also behind a University proxy server setup.. Stardock Central automatically detects the proxy settings I have defined for Internet Explorer, but Galciv2 doesn't seem to have that ability.. I always get a 'Cannot connect to the internet' message within game when I try connecting to the metaverse. Would be great to have some feedback here if there is a workaround that I can use or if I'll have to wait for Stardock to add this

Hmmm, Just thinking.. I've never used AD so forgive me if it already does something like this. But If inside the AD gadget, you split the background image into effective layers... and cut one layer from the other, creating two images (ie. Foreground elements and background elements), You could actually make the fish swim inbetween the background and foreground (i.e. Around the weeds) as well as just infront of everything... A
Loving Beta 4.. Textures look great! Can't wait for the final release.
Woohoo! I managed to overwrite my SDC install, updated it and then installed the latest beta of Glaciv fine. Works like a treat! Yeah!
Carielf I sent you the SDC log that you requested... I haven't tried reinstalling SDC yet. But I'll do that shortly and hopefully it might fix the problem. As stated in my email - my issue seems to be general with SDC, and happens with anything I download on Objectdesktop or TGN... However now someone else has a problem with the Galciv2 install as well?? Hmm..
Woot! Someone heard my prayer! Downloading now. YEAH!! Edit 10 mins later: Crap! SDC has buggered up on me and won't install it! *sigh* I hate it when this happens, Now I have to uninstall SDC, reninstall, update SDC, THEN try and redownload Galciv2 and hope it works... Good news though, Stardocks servers absolutely nailed the download speed - I got top rate for my connection. Edit A further ten minutes later: And I can't uninstall SDC because Windowblinds 5 Beta has an iss
I hate being in a GMT +12 zone sometimes It's 12:45PM Friday here... and after seeing the 'Beta 4 Tommorow' notice on galciv2.com yesterday by this time I figured I would be in luck same time today. *sigh* Work in three hours, Comeon my favorite Stardock peoples, I wanna play before I have to labour.
Stardocks Beta prep sounds like other companies prepping for gold. I'm sure it will be good, and well worth the wait... I was hoping Galciv would curb my retail urges over the weekend and keep me from buying another good book to read. *sigh* The following weekend it is then.
Oh yeah, forgot to mention, with the previous idea of using mini-freighter style repair vessels to upgrade ships on patrol away from a home planet, the fleet waiting to be upgraded would never be 'idle' and defenceless to enemy attack itself, at least not for more than one turn while the actual repairs are done when the repair ship reaches the vessel.... Rather a smart enemy player could do a classic 'wipe out the supply lines' mission by taking out the defenceless repair vessels in transit.<br/
I like the idea of upgrading/refitting ships.. I'm not bothered too much by the idea of that happening in space, although to justify that option it would be nice to have some mini-freighter style repair ships which would have to make there way from the nearest planet out to the ship patrolling, bringing both labour and parts... Hence the 'cost' and 'time' of the upgrade would be how long it will take the repair ship to make it out to the patrolling vessel and how many repair ships (by
I have the same problem with Firefox as well on this website... Occasionally a forum post will just display as blank, even though it reports as having fully loaded the page... No problems using IE to view the same page however.
the starbase on the bottom right look lke a go'uld mothership from stargate. That's exactly what I thought! Go Stargate! *Wishes for a Stargate Mod for Galciv 2*
Well, don't forget that Stardock produces games ...and some damn good ones, one of which (Galciv 2) you already hav guaranteed access to without spending any tokens! (if you registered before Phase Two that is) and check out Society ( Link ) which I reckon is go
By Yarlen: Vinco - If you go through your Tokens, buy a booster (5 and 10 Token boosters are available). I think what Vinco is saying however is that when you purchase these boosters you get an additional year (or two) added to your membership at totalgaming.. Which creates the posibility that
Just a query with SDC, now that totalgaming works on the tokens system and not all the games listed under the games section are ones that we 'own'... would it be possible to divide the games window up into an area with the games we have already purchased/spent tokens on/had carry over with the subscription and the ones which we don't own (yet)... Something to make it a little clearer at a glance what is new, what is mine, what is not, and wh
No the Crash issue hasn't been fixed yet... I thought the reinstall had fixed SDC crashing on launch as well, however once the machine has rebooted and SDC is started, once again - crash to desktop. There seems to be something fatally wrong with the latest build of SDC. Something is causing Windows to terminate the program before it even gets a chance to check for updates and validate serials etc.
There not all online yet either Kevin... Yarlen is still adding some of them. I notice Xeno isn't online yet, and a couple of other titles which you can view descriptions of when you click on the 'All Releases' segment of this website.
Mike, I had the same thing... a 'Need to close this program' error that shutdown the SDC application... I did a reinstall however (It wouldn't let me uninstall the existing installation so I just wrote straight overtop of it with the original SDC install file) and once it had updated again everything worked like a charm and I can see all the new games which have been added so far.
I imagine Totalgaming.net is going to be a little iffy for the next week while they implement Phase Two across the board. I imagine there is going to be at least one more build of SDC released as well during the process... Just be patient for a few days and everything will be back to normal again. I've been a customer for a couple of years now and I've always thought Stardock had good customer support. Try sending them an email or find
I'm guessing that we'll either get access to the new games when we (customers) are shifted over to the Phase Two system... Or not until after the official launch start of next week? I've got to admit that at least two of those games look really good though. I was too young for the original arcade Gallaga, but I did play a game called Raptor as an adolescent and Xeno Assault looks like a great game with which to remember the glory days <img s
I'm interested in how tokens and the subscription 'length of time' will work together... Scenario Is: I have subscribed to TG.net and I have ten tokens by default to spend on whatever games I choose. Say after two years (or whatever the length of the sub is) I still haven't spent those tokens, I assume that as my sub will expire my options will be to spend the tokens still, but ONLY on games that were already released on the TG.net before
Out of curiosity will this activation system be present in the final release of Galciv2? If so then how will the potential effect of formatting the system and having to reintall the software or the purchase of a new PC over time affect these 'licenses to activate'?
I've been waiting for a hint that Stardocks MMORTS is progressing in it's development.. and typing www.societygame.com into my browser tonight I finally hit gold.. Website is up (at least temporarily and partially) and it's humble beginnings look promising.
I wish you all the best with the development of Societygame Brad... I'm eagerly anticipating the final release - and seeing what Stardock makes of such a new venture. Keep it coming.
So what have you decided to make the focus in societygame Brad? What is the player going to attach enough value to that they will keep coming back in Stardocks new MMORTS? Personally, I think growth, increase - gain, is central to the value people will place on there MMO play... There must be progress, there must be reward in the progress. So more territory claimed under your control, equals better production abilities or increased population
