I wonder out of interest if the implementation of this kind of restriction on games will cause an increase in Pirated copies of games.. I'm betting it won't really - If a kid was going to buy it anyway the parent will more than likely go and buy it for them with the kids savings... But still, if it's easy enough to get them pirated without the folks knowing and without spending precious cash, It might just create an increase in pirated copies.

Galciv is setup to support widescreen monitors like you find on some laptops... I see no reason, if you configure the graphics options the right way, that Galciv wouldn't work over dual monitors. Although everything is always a little hinky in a beta. To make it work you may have to run it in a windowed mode of some sort, as I don't know how dual monitors work. When a program runs 'fullscreen' that's fullscreen on ONE monitor - so to get the spread you desire you may
Yup, I got this problem too. The Survey ship nearly always drives sideways. Funnily enough though I've noticed the behaviour very little in ships I have created as opposed to the ones you begin with. Dunno if that's just happenstance or not... A theory I have is that ships that move only one space a turn will often drive sideways, while ships that can move 2 or more spaces seem to come right and animate correctly, they draw smoothly when they move instead of jerking
I have noticed this issue as well... I believe it could be a race relations screen of some sort which pops up - because I swear I am seeing an image of a Drengin with text beside it. But it flashes up briefly then disapears before I can really see it or do anything about it.. and as the above poster said, it also is fairly regularly, like an auto-save dialog. The funny thing is though that anomoly dialogs popup fine. Anything that is a direct result of an a
I have a question about Phase Two of Totalgaming... In the existing system, a subscriber can download and install any and all of the games on the network, at a later date if that user reformats his system, all he has to do is log back into Stardock Central and re-download those same games again. The user is ENTITLED and ENABLED to do this whenever and however many times is neccesary. In the new Phase Two system, when a user downloads a ga
In a previous forum post Frogboy did make an 'official/unofficial' response.... Frogboy posted this in reply to the question of 'Where is the November Game?' "We have the games, don't worry they're going up. We've already put up The Political Machine (August), Robin Hood, and now World War II. We're just trying to catch our breath. The good news is that the games themselves are ready. It's an infastructure issue. So they will be comi
Ahhh, Vana'diel... I picked up my character again after having taken a two month break - how things change in just two months. I swear the economy has bottomed out for the little guy - I'm really struggling to scrape enough gil together to get by at the moment. I so understand what you mean about leveling subjobs Amitty, I use BLM as my sub and it's just getting to the point where I really have to fork out for the gear I am buying him... *sigh* <br
I was like you joetheblow, I learnt tables when I taught myself HTML back when frames were the height of technology and css was the figment of someones imagination. Tables was still being taught as a base structural element when I completed my multimedia course in 2001. Divs seemed confusing and vague at that time so I sort of ignored them. I've never clicked with DIV tags, I know they can do more than I think they can, but like you Joe, Tables are so specific, precise and straightforward. I sti
The thing about Winamp is it seriously kicked ASS back in the day when resource usage was so important that it could be the difference between smooth playback of audio files and jitters. Winamp had such a small footprint and was so compact and straightforward (it did the job. Period) that it was the best media player handsdown. I think the significance between mediaplayers has shrunk to little in the last few years. The difference mainly being in the amount of visualisations/skins and the u
Hmmm, I have a weird problem with WW2: FLC where everytime I have downloaded the main install file from SDC and it goes to extract and install the files in the Default directory on my harddisk, I get a full system lock-up, the whole thing hangs. Don't know the reason. Hasn't done it with any other totalgaming game.
You are a very wise and peaceable person. You try your best to make sure everyone gets along, although they dont always get along with you. When your friends ask for your opinion you tell the truth based on it, no matter how harsh. Whats the point of having friends if your gonna lie to them, right? Your constantly consulted for advice, but that doesnt bother you. You always give great advice, even though you yourself dont follow it sometimes... <BR
I would love to see a mock-up of 'A day in the life of a Stardock Employee' and just see how busy the staff are on the multiple projects (MOM2, Galciv2, Wincustomize2k5, Object Desktop, Blog Navigator, Joe User, theme creation etc) that Stardock have underway. With the amount of products Stardock has produced in the last few months I am fairly surprised they haven't overreached as I'm pretty sure they have a
The News Items and the Comment/replies themselves are clear, the part where I am still a little confused is the channel listing at top and the Top Articles down the sides. It would be nice to have some indicator whether these news items are in a channel by highlighting that channel, or if it isn't in a channel listed above, have some clear seperation between the article and the listing of channels/sub channels. The heirachy may make sense to other
I'm not a subscriber (yet) and I am curious.. It would be nice to have the ability to arrange the 'elements' (what and where) that make up the individual pages. For instance if we wanted some data from the 'Newest' page to show up on the main 'Home' page we could set that 'element' to appear on the main page in our preferences.. I seem to remember hearing something about this a while ago - is it gonna happen for subscribers? Could it happen? C
I don't think he meant it was frustrating because it was difficult to play... I think he meant it was frustrating because his preconceptions and prior experience with other 4X games kept reminding him of what wasn't there and what was different in Galciv compared to those games. He was frustrated because he was trying to fit Galciv into the mold of his own vision - but it wasn't built to encompass everything he wanted it to be. Well hang in th
Ahh but the anticipation makes it so much better... and worse! I too would love to see the Galciv2 Beta as the October/November game. .
I agree thanks for letting us know Karma... I am certainly enjoying the service, keep choosing the great games you are, I'm looking forward to this months offering.
Personally I love using SDCentral, I bought Galciv first and it was great having the discussion boards along with the downloadable updates and product info available through SDCentral. I would love to see (at the very least) these forums added as discussion groups into the SDCentral interface, and perhaps under the totalgaming.net tab which lists all the games it could initially load the totalgaming webpage in the lower half of the split screen in
Firstly let me say that totalgaming is great and I am really enjoying the game selections on it. However I was thinking today on whether it would be possible for Stardock to maybe post a list of 'possible' titles for each month? I am assuming here that Brad gets a list of titles from Strategy First (and other publishers) which they are willing for him to use (if he wants to) on totalgaming.net and that he chooses the title for the next month from that
Considering they let Galciv users upgrade to Totalgaming sub for a reduced price I imagine it is the same with those who have already purchased totagaming or a drengin subscription in the past. In fact I seem to remember reading that renewing totagaming after the subscription period was going to be $50 or something...?
A positive Vote for Alpha Transperency support in WB Here! Do it Stardock... please
I am fairly certain Mushmouth that Stardock have stated in previous posts that among there test machines they have at least one setup running Win98. It is nearly impossible to test a game on every hardware/software setup. Stardock I am sure has been as thorough as they can using the various test machines they have in house. Political Machine is a new step for Stardock in that it is the first game by them which incorporates some genuine 3D driven g
Lord Werdna Edwardton I Damn that sounds like something that would make even my Grandmother puke.
Anyone seen the Chobits Anime? That pic reminds me of that for some reason... Personally as an adult I am not bothered by this pic on this site, Frogboy has said the site is PG13 or whatever. I would have issue though with my children seeing it used as a background, as a previous poster stated that he had with his children... It's not that the picture itself is incredibly bad, but anything like thi
