So if you haven't reset it yet you might try that before you buy a new computer.
No time to do that. It would take hours, if not days, to reset this thing and I'm far too busy with working and other life issues. :)
That's a bit drastic, buying a Mac when your problem is most likely a Windows Update issue. To those that are curious, no, I have not found a solution to the issue other than to buy a Mac. HEre in a few weeks I will do just that.
And I don't have time to waste rooting around in task manager. Too busy with work and other activities.
You must have something wrong with your computers. Even when I was running Windows XP on old hardware it never took THAT long to boot. My current machine does it all in under 2 minutes, used to be less. 8 minutes is pushing it.
To those that are curious I have not found a solution to speeding it up, it still lags between boot up and password screen and even more when bringing up the desktop. However since it's only a few extra seconds I've learned to just bear with it. Here in a week or so I'm going to stuff another 4 GB down it's throat, so if having 8 GB installed will speed it up since DDR3 is getting cheaper. I did roll back to version 1709, a few tings are faster. If the RAM upgrade fails to deliver I might jus
@ AzDude - Thanks for the advive about that program, but I use CCleaner and it works just fine. @ admiralWillyWilber - No need. Windows 10 defrags the drive automatically. @ Starkers - I do not use WMP, never have. I use iTunes mostly for MP3 playback. I'm running Windows version 1709. No gl;itches to report and HD health is fine according to 2 different diagnostic programs. @ BigDogBigFeet - No SSD, it has a standard Western Digital 500 GB HD. I only allow 2 things fo
Neither of those solutions fixed the issue. Both completed and said nothing was wrong. I still have the issue with long boot times and a sluggish PC when opening apps, using apps, or scrolling online via Chrome.
That wouldn't be the issue. I don't have a Microsoft account, so all of the sync settings are grayed out. :/
Nope. My system is 100 percent all Intel. Except for the Western Digital hard drive.
Got me a HP laptop. I bought it early last year. It's been a great little computer. Nice and fast. Until about a week ago when we finally got internet back in the house. It used to wake from sleep and be ready for the password to get to the desktop in less then a second after I moved the mouse to wake it. It now takes up to two minutes. The time between the lock screen and when I can input my password has gone from a few seconds to thirty as well. Recent virus scans by Windows Defender and Tr
Wow. Lost some good people. I'm still missing DavidK. Gonna miss them all, I think HG and I had some epic arguments around 10 years ago.
Just wanted people to know I'm still alive and kicking. I only stop by here once or twice a month, but I'm just lurking. I'm doing very well and good health. :)
So I'm confused with the Google results, so I will ask here. It's pretty simple, I would like to create a shortcut on my desktop that when clicked will instantly put the computer to sleep. I am running Windows 10 with hibernation turned off. I simply don't know what code to use for the shortcut. LOL.
Damn. I already updated last week to the creator's update. No issues, but I haven't tried Bluetooth. I did notice that update KB4016240 disabled my WiFi so I had to uninstall that one. Funny thing is that Windows 10 says it's installed in my update history, but the system itself reports it is uninstalled. LOL.
And here I am worrying about Microsoft spying on the contents of my hard drive such as passwords and keystrokes. I've been freaked out about it for a few weeks now. I have nothing to hide on my computer, but I don't need people seeing my sensitive information either.
There is a zoom control that you can use............and the opticians is just around the corner.
Yeah but you have to zoom each page. Chrome has a minimum font setting that makes all fonts on any webpage that size. So does Firefox.
Edge has no setting for a minimum font size to be displayed on all web pages. Deal breaker for me. My eyes are not as sharp as they used to be.
So, a different question. Instead of removing Cortana, how do I completely disable it?
Due to the fact that I absolutely hate Contana and the way Microsoft collects data about people, I was curious if there was a good way to remove Cortana without harming the way Windows 10 works? Or should I consider buying a copy of 7?
I have the creator's update. But I never use Edge so I don't know. I actually disabled Edge on purpose. I only use Chrome.
Actually I got it working, I just don't remember how. I think it was the reply from Phoon. I tried that and there was a multimedia app blocking sleep mode. I turned it off, it now works. Thanks guys.
Guys nothing is plugged in at all except the wireless mouse and it never has caused an issue with other laptops and sleep mode. Hybrid sleep is off, and hibernate is disabled. All programs are closed when I want it to sleep. It still refuses to do so, even after 4 hours.
Got me a Lenovo laptop here. Not sure of the model, I know it's an IdeaPad 110, but they have many 110 models. This one has the Intel Core I3 with 6 GB of DDR4 memory and a 1 TB hard drive. Anyhow, I'm running Windows 10 and have it set to turn off the display after 2 minutes and sleep after 5 on both plugged in and battery. Now I don't have any programs stopping it from sleeping that I know of. I created a sleep button for my taskbar that works fine, but I would prefer the machin
Hey Starkers I am curious to know what apps you use to completely remove all the telemetry in 10 and to get rid of Cortana. Thanks!
Wow. The speed is insane. This was always the slowest loading forum for me until now. Thank you!!
