Guess what, I updated the model, you know something like this has potential, its like a mini simplified turn based city simulator, except you don't have to bother looking at them every turn, you just designate what you want in areas using tools and I assure you it has great potential. The only acceptation is the wonders and farms. everything would about these cities would be self developing as you advance your technology.

Well, lasers are accuracy weapons, light cannot bend and it travels the fastest. Also ever heard of the nuclear missile, a mass driver would be a over sized gun. what do you think would be the most devastating? What about the fact that some weapons are more effective against smaller vessels? For example lets say I had a doom ray, and a bunch of disruptor. Don't you find it downright stupid to if they wasted a doom ray on a fighter, that would be downright stupid beca

Then again, maybe the can remove the limits of how big the universe can be, like lets say you put in 1000X1000 squares on a supercomputer and invite 30+ players to the game. Then again it would be too much of a inconvenience for someone to run something that long unless they have dedicated servers.

I am sorry, I just think that something of that scale would cost them a shit ton of money, I don't feel like paying 5 dollars a week to cover their sever cost, which means they would probably go bankrupt for people who just want single player

yes, too much detail does kill it... in fact this micromanagement would ruin multi-player, don't get me wrong but you should be thankful there is a slider to begin with, what I am trying to get at is can you come up with a better idea then a simple slider? It doesn't seem to take too much time and it is perfect for a game of this scale.

If you think GCII system is overly complicated, check this out This map is a class 17 planet because it has 17 cities. Each will have a population percentage. Also you can build space farming sectors (hexagons) outside the radius, but it cannot overlap water and cannot overlap cities.</p

I am kind of wondering why he would say mass drivers would do the most damage. apparently I would say the missiles would do the most damage too. Maybe it is best we leave this discussion for another time. Information is so scarce right now on the actual game that it hasn't even made the alpha yet.
Quoting Tyrantissar, reply 3Because this is now considered a 4X game, then that completely changes the series from a TBS to RTS. So how does being a 4X game make it an RTS? Aren't GC1 and GC2 4X games? Those are most definitely TBS games.
Well true, I guess I judged wrongly. I was thinking 4X because sins of a solar empire was considered 4X to begin with.

It would be even more funny if there were actually parts that were explosive when destroyed, bad news if you didn't put your engines separate from the ship like the star ship enterprise. >> They copied the star ship enterprise. Oh no, the piece that held up the engine blew off, why did we design our ship by the star ship enterprise. Why didn't we use a bunch of pieces to shield the engines from direct fire >> puts the engine in the core of the ship

Actually this system is mainstream if I remember correctly, think Star wars empire at war or even better, FTL (faster then light). However it would be just amazing if the pieces of the ship would actually be removed from the ship EXO skeleton in battle, for example, lets say the left wing was destroyed, visually that piece is now gone on screen as well. Oh no, the bridge got destroyed, you see a big hole where the bridge piece use to be. Because this is now considered a 4X game,

yep, you got that right. codes all rewritten and I need more information to exactly how this game will be made.

You do realize this game is not even in its alpha stage yet. please remind everyone that it will take months for this game to come out.
First I y not hope Galactic civilizations 3 wont be turned based. That's what Sins of a solar empire is for. If u want to meke that better that's the direction u should go. Am I the only one who caught the similarities between Galactic civilizations 3 Dark avatar. If Galactic civilizations were real time; then they would have to scale it down just like they did sins of a solar empire. Then they would have to get rid of one. W

The story is here to bring true fans of this series, anyways the story was far more interesting then just say "this was a good idea", I am hoping for a discussion on what you think the Galactic civilizations III system could add on the already existing formula. I am sure brad would love to hear our voices more on how the game will work. They are developing the engine, am I right or am I right?

I love the rock paper scissors system of GCII Beam weapons+defenses Projectile weapons+defenses Missile weapons+defenses It is like the opposite of the rock paper scissors formula, it is a great unique system What's that? they said every piece has a function? Well does that sound fun if the ship can take casualties in battle by losing important pieces of the puzzle? Ex. Lets say there was this colossal ship with weapons so powerful that it c

I played 10 games in a row, and in all of them the dread lords appears at early game. I feel the mega events taking a dump on me recently as I have incredibly awful luck. I needed to race to a planet to reclaim it, and the space tear made that impossible, thus losing me another game. Seriously even as much as I love mega events, but at the same time I "dread" them if you know what I mean. This is what happens when the dread lords shows up 10 times early game in a row like the game is saying f

Maybe I missed out on the expansion that had emphasis on star bases, probably why I created this new model... rally points would fix the issue nicely like you suggested. I am huge on concept art, that is why I elaborated this way. Anyways I guess nobody agrees that this model was a good idea, so dust to ashes. The base game didn't have star bases like Twilight of the Arnor or whatever they call it. Then again maybe I can support other peoples ideas by crafting concept art for them.
