The ending is not the issue, the issue is the journey to the end. For games at such large scales, people are forced to find a balance between automation and control, since we humans have physical and mental limitations. Chess has been around for thousands of years not because the game takes forever to win, but because there was a way to end it quickly for those who are just too good for the opponent. What I am saying is that there needs to be shortcuts to a victory conditions like wha

Ahh! my eyes, this is a painful read, I have issues trying to read your post for some strange reason. Needles in my eyes, please slow down and stick to one topic.
Too bad son, I had a bunch of free copies of SOASE, I gave them away to total strangers. I was holding on to the last copy just and case, and eventually got asked for it, too bad it wasn't you ):. You missed a big opportunity.
Time to win the piece of shit award to my computer because I got my computer for free. An Acer brand computer (I don't give a shit because it was free) Windows 7 Premium 64bit Intel Pentium inside A non upgradable motherboard (There is no reason to find out what it is) It is cooled by a small fan combined with outdoor temperatures (Where I live not long ago it was -50 degrees C outside. For my future supercomputer I can afford to cheap out on coolin
Oh knowing full well that buying things like DLC's and expansions that won't exist for another five years could potentially be a stupid investment if all you get is map packs or other worthless things like that. If you are a diehard GC I or II player who cares about the franchise more then 100 dollars worth, than go right ahead, and buy it. however if your a casual gamer who probably would only play a few hundred hours on the game, I would reconsider your investment. Right now
Inlai Yornamier is probably the the epic star name I have came up with that meets standard qualities.
Looks like minor tweaks here and there from now on, the system is in place, now we got to use our tools to our advantage.
The idea is very basic, you know we got hundreds of planets to manage, I believe that a single ring would be empire wide, but it would be nice if you had individual planetary overrides for more specialized sectors of your empire. This actually looks like something Microsoft did to make paint programs more easy to use instead of having the good old fashion RGB system with color. And I agree it is a great system, I think this is for the betterment of a series that already has a name rat
Hello, this post will explain what the difference between a good and bad mechanic is. Tyrantis123 here with a ton of examples and experience of over 120 different tittles including galactic civilization II, Starcraft II, Civilization V, Xcom enemy unknown, Rome total war, Empire total war, napoleon total war, Sim City 4, most of the stronghold series, All Monte Cristos games, Supreme commander 2, many tycoon games, capitalism, most of the Sims series, Fallout New Vegas, and many others that I
Good vs. Evil is a terrible, flawed system where there is absolutely no good reason to be moral at all. Promoting evil in such as way is stupid, why would anybody want to take penalties so they can get good benefits that are no where near as good as neutral or evil choices. consider These 2 things. A) Fuck the good vs. evil system, I believe this has already been confirmed they were scrapping it the past, moving on B) whatever system is in its place, people who play st
speed, mass, rate of fire, weapons range, accuracy and evasion are now officially a part of the game now, and is satisfactory for the vanilla version of the game. Guess it is time to fabricate some facts right now. Crystal Optics should be a technology. Why? 1) Beam weapons have their own category 2) Crystal optics clearly would be useful for telescopes and such 3) More elaborate tech tree Mirror Improvements (Tech)
Range and weapon speed, I guess this is mission accomplished, I had a suggestion based on fire rates and weapon speeds :D Not only me but many of us have been asking for some sort of combat enhancement. Getting these factors in the game is one thing but actually coming up with weapon tech for all of them is a whole another story.

Planet Governors would be useful, however the AI would have to be pretty good to convince a player they do a good job, and it also requires huge amount of programming.

I found economic side of the game rather lacking, I wished there was more way to make credits, however I think economic bonuses on tiles would work well and generally speaking would be great way to get lucky and find a way to increase the planetary economy.
[quote who="androshalforc" reply="8" id="3418786"] Quoting Lucky Jack, reply 7Wasn't there an article about an experiment that had neutrons going slightly faster than light? And didn't that same article caution the reader that the experiment was still early days for any conclusions to be reached. Has anyone seen anything about this since? Has there been even one independent re-creation of the experiment? yes it was a glitch caused by (I believe) a loose gps timi
Ok, so we got telekinetic tele wonder where a bunch of religious freaks harness the power of the Dysoruntis Crystal fueled by the souls of the dead to magically create a impassible influence barrier the size of a few thousand parsecs. The supreme priest sees everything within the radius and controls what ship passes through and what gets pushed out. Congratulations, this topic needs to be put to rest badly before these extreme ideas start to pop up. Please end this conversation and ag
I seen the 7x from research and manufacturing, but nothing else. I consider the agriculture bonus tiles my main source of income and influence, the more people there are the more influence. However I only find 100% bonus for moral and 100% influence.
What does class 7 or lower planets have to do with this? The silos can be set up on any planet regardless of class. You send in a space miner to set up a network where you ship the minerals back to a class 1 or higher world and then you keep it stored and your empire constantly uses the resources you collect. The stock market idea is optional and is there to provide a sense of a living breathing economy where resources are valued by quantity to determine the quality. There will be a e

Well my thinking on this would be make those higher end planets before terra-forming, sort of the main habitable worlds,
[quote who="jecy99" reply="25" id="3418624"] I would even go as far as saying, anything under Class 7 could become a mining planet. Randomize resources that can be mined.. (not every planet should be able to be mined, But i am saying a chance to be could be a really good thing. I would like to have to think.. hmm a class six that would make a really good money maker, or a small research planet.. But it also has a wonderful resou

[quote who="12cfoster" reply="16" id="3418652"] I routinely play long games where I reach the end of the tech tree. I play on Immense, abundant planets and stars, tight clusters, very slow research, and I gave every race a -250% range penalty and de-emphasized the life support techs a bit. This makes your initial range about the size of your homeworld's influence. However, the thing about simply adding more techs is that you will reach the end of those too, and then want more.
Oh, I just had a cool idea, space towns for extra living space, they would be very small but there would be services that would increase the tourism income and would generally make space travel fun. Also they would increase the trade route income if the trade route goes through the space town, and generally speaking it would hold a billion people within this space town, giving you bonus influence. perhaps an off world shipyard that would attract resources from local asteroid min
