I don't think this suggestion works, considering that you have to mine out every planet on a immense map to create a Dyson sphere, and the artificial moons sounds like a death star without a super beam. Perhaps you should rethink this idea like space stations orbiting the planet like a moon combined with orbital defenses that is probably one of the more feasible idea of this whole conversation.

Sector wide combat? that sounds intense, but considering that we are talking parsecs, you might as well stack everyone in fleets to ensure you would win a parsec battle. Then again I believe the huge distances would pose an issue, and that onto itself can be a logical flaw in the parsec battle unless you got some serious crazy weaponry that goes as fast as your ship does. hyper drive assisted weaponry anybody? How abou
AI needs to value its planets a bit better, for example an AI would value his home planet over some class 3 planet that he use to own. Then again reclaiming the planet would be what the AI wants to do for example. I guess your idea sounds good, but I would hope the AI programer would have the skills to incorporate the idea that the AI wants to keep their worlds in check, this would encourage constant counter attacks to worlds that you conquered, making the game experience seem much li
If tactical battles are implemented, everyone is forced to be tactical. Frogboy claimed they will keep the tactical battles to a minimum, which means there must be some new tactical features of GCIII that are tactical, but it isn't the main focus of the game pretty much.
They need to start coming up with ideas that the other series cannot do. For example Multi universes that can be traveled through wormholes or perhaps linking 2 single player universe and transforming single player to multiplayer. Other then that, I really hope they start making some revolutionary changes that make the game great, otherwise we end up with GCII with better graphics.
Agreed, however you would need a ship beside a planet in order to scan it or a spy. Other then that being able to look at others planets just be clicking view when there is no spy or ship in sight, that is a no no.
No, it is not that people don't want quality, it is just that they want to stick to their series as much as you would want your enhanced tactical combat. I am suggesting that this game is designers choice, and for the most part the majority apparently doesn't know the difference between quality and shitty games anymore, just look at the popular radio stations, the popular games and the popular movies and the popular TV series. Not everyone gives a shit if they don't got the best o
I said that all resources have "specific" values ranging from worthless crap to unobtainable, and basically all you need to do is send a space miner there and it basically works the same way as asteroids or trade routes (one of the two). The stock exchange would be an additional idea and generally speaking there would be a number on how much raw resources in your empire and how much resources your civilization are consuming per turn. A nice picture for each individual resource would b
Put this thread to rest already, if you want master of the Orion 4, then go make a new rip off series, otherwise you are wasting your time here on this forum. Your in your competitors territory and if you really want Master of the Orion 4, go rack up a few million dollars and buy out the license and hire people to make the game for you.
Um, you can always create a custom species in the game right? All I care about is if I can mod my species in, they can release the rest.
Quoting tid242, reply 30We haven't developed FTL travel yet, although if you follow the human speed trajectory we theoretically should by ~2038 (not that you'll be on a spaceship doing this by 2038, if i recall NASA is already working on this working on an experimental "engine" to prove that space folding/warping is possible here's one article although i thought it stated they were running experi
Heh, maybe they should introduce a tech tree designer like they did before, sounds amazing idea they done in the past. it makes civ 5 tech tree look rather bland. Then again I don't want to play a waiting game, but I love slow technology advances so you have more time to bash someones face in with the technology you currently have. For example in having to wait 40+ turns for a silly single military unit defeats the purpose of having the slow game speed implanted, the
I like this idea, but using missiles and point defense is problematic; it would make PD much more powerful than shields and armour
Agreed, however who said it could only be missile based, perhaps there would be hyper drive assisted beams/mass driver projectiles
hey, if you want realism, then there is the option to turn off your computer sound. So don't complain about sound effects.
hy does this remind me of ranged units in Civ5??W
Agreed, however the difference is these are hyper drive assisted weapons, so you would need much more technology and generally speaking is a weaker 2nd rate weapon. It would be interesting to see how players use this. Also this is more of a space based weapon, any ship would require a hyper drive for these specialized weapons to work. Also you cannot us
I am pretty geeked about finally using the 64bit systems, they have been in the hands of consumers for years. I know that companies didn't want to leave anyone behind so they mostly stuck with 32bit efforts in the past. I am ready to move on. Lets move some more bits.
Agreed, enough said.
Hell yes, add sounds even if it breaks the laws of physics, if you do this then add green stars because this game isn't based on realism.
Well, to be honest maybe everything is open borders till you issue space embargo, that way if you don't want anybody in, you cannot trade with them. This are 2 recommended options OPTION A: If that anybody passing through after you issued the space embargo, then it is considered an act of war, so you have to send ships to destroy it. This is way more realistic since you could get aw
Maybe green stars represent stars with high radiation, thus all planets orbiting that star is highly radiated, and requires technology to colonize it. I think that would be the best way to represent green stars because no races can actually see it as a green star. It would be a strategic indicator, not what alien races see unless they have a totally different view of color that we don't know or understand. What I am saying realistically the star ain't actually green, but
For ages people either the player gets pissed off if they find a useless class 0 planet or they pose no strategic value to them whatsoever. Well lets end this waste of perfectly good resources and have constructors or space miners (what do you think is better?) to set up a fully automated resource harvest where drones extract whatever is useful from the planet. Perhaps players could randomly come across artifacts or things out of the ordinary in the class 0 planet, or simply they find
quoting post 3) Meteor showers: They spawn at the edge of the map traveling in a straight line, which could pose a danger to all ships that end their turn in one of these belts. Other then that they travel 1 parsecs per turn, causing light damage to star bases and ships all across the galaxy. 8) Comets: These deadly projectiles can pack a punch to a ship that crosses it path, it generally moves
I love neutral, because you never know what I might do. That is true evil. [e digicons]}:)[/e]
Don't spoil the release date Spoiler alert:
don't look, you don't want to know.
The release date is:
sometime
this
winter

Death to the 32 bit PC. I had a 64 bit for over 7 years and they finally dumped that useless pile of garbage. Great to hear.
spaghetti and Torian balls, doesn't that sound good? Oh how about Torian sticks and a luxurious red drink you got from the black market? What about Torian nut bars for on the go?
