In the design screen make a new ship using the original ship of the one you want to upgrade. Save it. Now go to the ship and tell it to upgrade to the new design you saved. Does that give you what you want. You can add/subtract things but the hull size will stay the same.

Building a new ship and sending it could be cheaper. Along with that upgrading ships would add micro and they want to reduce it. Like many of my wants. They sound nice but not going to happen IMHO.
Go into options and only lower the SFX. Unfortunately it will do it to all SFX not just a few selected files.
Start with campaigns and as you learn the new system you can do new games with certain goals in mind.
Another option could be to have the planets grouped by shipyard.
You have no manufacturing. You need to have some money going to military manufacturing.
I am vanilla and also see many notifications of events. And no I have not done what Enskipp did.
I like the capture starbase like capture a planet. I would add more diplomacy possibilities. My most thought of one is a surrender to me without having to totally defeat them in war. Just get them to the point of "they will not win". After the surrender then you have to clean up the rebel elements that do not change. This is where and advanced assimilation center and approval buildings would help.
Diversify, diversify, diversify. When I play as a faction that likes only one thing I usually get killed. After time when you want things to be even more difficult try combining things like Win as Drengin by Influence starting in a corner of the map. etc.
Another way to organize them could be for me to group them how ever I see fit by drag and drop. Up to Large I do not need them but the Insane. Any organization of anything helps.
Allies are solid green. Could Non-Aggression be dashed green. Also Open boarder could be a dashed yellow. All around the planet so there are not to many lines.
Add the option for all sentry and all guard ships undo sentry/guard. Add all ships docked eject.
100% Influence All planets are yours
They are both supposed to give adj bonus to influence.
According to the adjacency arrows HP do not get/help influence when by a snuggler colony.
I would take a guess that you need to update the video drivers or 10 security blocking something.
I have had a planet start rebellion as soon a 1.4 influence. As Horemvore stated the more resistance and approval a planet the higher the number has to be..
Other then getting an alliance with first major race for steam badge and locking good relations; alliances are a waste of time.
Multi layer filtering automation. More governors of planets (Influence, Ideology) and the future admirals so managing large empires is not so time consuming.
After all my map is explored the ships/fleets just sit there doing nothing and no notification when set to explore. If nothing left to explore can the ship/fleet tell us they need to move.
If we could password protect our race then we could setup a round robin game emailing the save game around. Alas I do not see this happening either. At one time they said the Pbem and hotseat people were not enough to offset the cost of the development so I gave up. A shame for I would have liked to play others the pbem way.
You need to make multiple fleets and have them all just one move away from the planet. That way you can attack with one then another fleet (all same turn) till you win. If you do not want to do it tahat way then there is influence flipping and diplomacy.
Some things require lots of looking on the map and hopping you do not miss anything. An easier way to find stuff is to make the main map only show certain things. stars, planets, anomalies, relics (types of resources), starbases, shipyards. Effectively getting rid of the mini map unless you need to see the entire insane map at once.

It happens to me every time I add a ship to a fleet. After the Turn it goes back to norm.
