Yes, thank you. That was the one.

Can someone help? I saw a post awhile ago. Someone listed the different settings for the AI. It actually had a chart showing abilities at each level. If I'm not hallucinating, can someone point me in the right direction? Thanks
I realize it may not seem like much to some...but that is the most helpful, seemingly small change since release. At least for me and anyone who constantly tweeks factions. Thank you again!
I have a pretty nice Dell with 8 gig of RAM. I bought it in February for this game in particular, lmao. The wife actually understood. Anyway, I've had no issues, but I haven't cleared 160 turns on any Insane map yet. No issues, just wanted a different game. Question: Should I expect problems with an Insane map down the road? I play 25-41 factions, max planets at 300 with different combinations. Any ideas?
Thanks for the info Raven. I hope the "Doctor stuff" isn't anything serious. I've never been a fan of real time games. Lol, Age Of Empires was a challenge for me.
1.03 is out? I'll have to check. I haven't been on since almost 5:00 PM.
LOL, you really are dealing with an amateur here. "Flesh them out with AI config?" Not sure what your asking. I have created them, based on the original MOO2 stats and traits, and given them the large and small portraits. By the way, the game comes with some pretty spot-on logos. I did not convert the original banners from MOO2 because they just don't "fit" the GalCiv logos feel for me. Also, could anyone explain how I might share an example? Can't I simply upload an ima
I'd be happy to. However, they are not animated. I don't know how to do that. In fact, I'm so anal I used only GalCiv2 portraits for the GalCiv races, and of course, the MOO2 races for those civs. I did that to make them uniform. I created a pseudo-"viewscreen" from an animted Star Wars pic I found online. I simply cropped a window in it and put each race pic in it. The result is a nice, but non-moving, pic of each race that actually looks like they are all being viewed by the sam
Another thought just occurred to me. Perhaps this question will better convey my quandary. If I want to play a truly epic, long slow game all summer...am I going about it the wrong way? Now, I don't necessarily want 1000 planets resulting in 40 or 50 planets per faction. No, I really want the biggest to have around 20, with 10 being average. I have 26 factions. The problem I'm running into is meeting other factions much too quickly. I'd love to wait till turn 100 or so. That's
Larsenex and joeball, thank you both for the advice. A few more questions, if you don't mind: 1) Larsenex, 15 factions plus full minors is around 25, correct? If so, that would match my 26 factions nicely. 2) joeball, I always maxed opponents in GalCiv2. 9 factions and full minors was around 20? My memory fails me. Anyway, you ask if 9 felt right, try 16. Are you including the minors in your count? By your advice, I'm thinking my 26 would fit on excessive nicel
As I read this post, it makes me think. I've created all the original "Master Of Orion II" races, as well as the missing "GalCiv2" races. Including the custom race I'm playing as, I have 26 factions. I'm not using minors. I'm having trouble finding a game that grips me. Its definitely because of the "over crowding" issue. I want some room to develop before interacting with other races to a large degree. What settings would some of you recommend for a long-term commitment on my
RavenX, great point. GalCiv2 is my personal favorite 4X of all time...even above MOO2. When you suggest we make requests, do you suggest we do so in normal threads, or is it better to start a new one? is there an ongoing thread to make requests and suggestions? I believe GalCiv3 will eventually surpass GalCiv2. The genius inherent in the whole thing is that the devs did not try to re-invent the game/wheel, (ie.MOO3.) Instead, thankfully, they have created a fresh game BASED on the one we alre
Props to Frogboy and the entire Stardock team. I appreciate what GalCiv3 already is, and I thank all of you for the commitment you've made...putting yourself out there with the promise of things to come. I am anticipating the game I'll be playing in 6 months, almost as much as I anticipated the initial release.
Bornloser, I think you missed my point. Minors aren't supposed to win the game. I don't think any player would choose "Isolationist." It would really exist to tag a custom faction. Think about it...sci fi is littered with stories of races either not advanced enough, way too advanced to be bothered, or simply desiring to be left alone. I like the idea from the strategic standpoint of "jump points." If an isolationist minor is in a strategic location, and won't sign a treaty, your r
I suggested awhile back that the trait "Isolationist" be added to the custom race choices. We already have "expansionist," to make them aggressive. With this simple option, we could create pseudo-minors that ARE interesting. They just wouldn't leave their systems.
Folks, everyone on this forum is amazing. Can someone explain how I "give Karma" to those who help me? Thank you is nice, but I think some deserve more. Thanks all.
Does anyone know if the MAJOR events from GalCiv2 are, or will be in GalCiv3? I'm referring to the I-League, or the Jagged Knife type events where everyone lost some colonies to a new "faction."
That's just what I did, lol. I THINK I have it. (All read left to right) Bottom row 0,0 to 9,0 1st row up 0,1 to 10,1 2nd row up 0,2 to 9,2 3rd row up 0,3 to 10,3 4th row up 0,4 to 9,4 5th row up 0,5 to 10,5 I'm pretty sure that's correct.
Ok, I have the resource showing up on my planet, but only in the bottom left corner. How is the X and Y calculated. Is 1,1 the bottom left? Is X left and right, and Y up and down?Is it based on positive numbers? Is it ONLY based on the actual existing tiles on the planet, or a grid regardless of computer generated usable tiles? Thanks.
Thank you. I'm very new to this. Where do I find that information? Where is the XML?
Anyone? Please?
I'd like to play with the various effects of the trade resources. Could someone explain or list the different "internal names" for the trade resources. I typed "ultra spices" and it didn't recognize them. Also, are the X and Y coordinates simply 1,2,3 etc? Please advice how to use this tool. Thank you.
Also, what is an "internal name?"
I have never seen an answer to the "Colonize" issue. "Colonize All" works. How do you colonize a single world? "Colonize" simply results in a "no planet selected" message.
Does anyone know of a list explaining the various test/cheats available. "Colonize all" has been a Godsend. I can check the long term viability of a map with a simple save first. What do all the others do? I've tried "colonize" with the planet name, centered on a planet, etc. to no avail. Also, what does "finish" do, and more importantly, HOW do you use it? Any guidelines would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
