I have AOL and have encountered similar problems. It is mainly due to the AOL skinning process. For this reason, I normally wait until AOL has fixed their recent versions before I install them. I have AOL 9.0 optimized, and I have no problems with it and windowblinds. My current version did the same thing until it settled down and was updated by AOL. It occassionally moves the logon window, like when I do something else before I connect and minimize the window. But, that is not Windowblinds faul

If you open a zip and there are files inside then most likely your system changed the extension. This has been known to happen with SP2. Change the extension back after you download it. Windowsblinds should have the .wba extension. And DesktopX objects should have the .dxpack extension. Then, they should install fine.

I just put a computer together myself and the A Drive cable is totally different than the Hard Drive cable and it isn't even the same size. I installed a Motherboard, all the drives, internal PCI cards, processor, case, power supply, and my Bios detected everything and so did my OS. The A: ribbon is smaller than the IDE ribbon and it has its own slot on the motherboard. There is a plastic pin on top that forces you to align it properly. That is an old suite. I suggest that you download the individual skins separately and apply them manually. If you download the suite link and execute it, a popup should tell you the names of the slins in the suite. Write them down, and go to the libraries that contain them and download them that way.

Are you sure that the skin actually contains a wallpaper? Or, is the wallpaper a separate download? If the skin contains a wall, then that will work. Assuming of course that the author properly attached the wall. If the wall is a separate download, then you have to apply the wall separately, or modify SkinStudio to load it with the theme.

If your DX theme was downloaded as a zip, you may have SP2 installed which has been known to change the file extension to zip. Try renaming the extension to .dxtheme, such as airlock.dxtheme instead of airlock.zip.

Another way to solve the problem is to get everything setup the way that you want and save the theme. Then, when it goes bonkers, reload the saved theme. You may need to unload & reload DesktopX too, because it may be confused about the current resolution.

Everything seems to go bonkers sometimes if you are playing a game and then return to your desktop. I solve this problem by setting my desktop resolution and my game resolution the same. I believe the problem arises because the game doesn't tell DesktopX that it has set the resolution back. And, DesktopX isn't constantly reading the resolution changes once it is loaded.
