I mean i guess more on a nuts and bolts of it. Basically i know the icon changes by whats on it like if you put a transport module on something it icons a transport, or colony ship or freighter survey etc. I just am having an issue with my Huge hulls having a "scout" icon with certain loadouts nothing to do with scouting just standard. engines, sublight, defenses, and weapons. Just a lot of them along with a lot of custom weapons seems to turn certain combos of weapons into a scout icon

I am having an issue determining what controls or determines what that icon is. I know the icons are based around whatever the game classifies the ship as, most likely by stats specific components? I am asking because i have an issue (modded game) where certain huge hulls always icon as scouts which is kind of annoying. I figure this is because of the mods the values or ship components are not falling into expected ranges and i am getting a wrong icon? Anyways i

Battleviewer would crash / not load whenever weapons got too fast. Might just be my modded game or might be the game doesn't like to animate faster than once every 2 seconds. So disregard everything above it doesn't work, at least for me.

What you are asking is a little complicated if you want it just to work on your ships/your weapons or specific weapons. As the globals are just that rules for all weapons. So if you change the rof (cool down) there then all of that weapon type will have that rof for you and for the ai. The damage is controlled by the components so modding that to taste works fine. Though what you are proposing is totally overpowered and will break the base game balance and there isn'

Tried that didn't seem to change anything. It is most likely some weird hardware issue with the game. On my dated work laptop that is far inferior to my gaming PC GalCiv3 loads in and out super fast at all sizes. So it just has to be the current version galciv3 not liking my PC/hardware configs etc. As all other expansions and patches of the game loaded fine. I can deal with the longer load into the game its annoying but meh. Its just going out of the

One thing to add to this and maybe its just how the game runs but when the game is taking wayyy longer than it has in the past/should. It is always "not responding" for minutes at a time. Maybe that is normal now but pretty much whenever it is responding stuff is happening but then it goes and in game and in monitors shows not responding until it goes and then does 10 seconds of loading and then the game saves/loads.

For the life of me i cannot seem to find what defines this in the xml. All the places it could/should be i either am missing it or its somewhere else. Does anyone know what file this setting is in?

Noticed this do since i like to play large maps with only a dozen or so players. Ends up half the galaxy is empty and AI is just on top of eachother. Takes around a half dozen restarts to get a map that is at least even.

Ah well still could be memory but seems doubtful vs my experiences but as i said earlier they make changes that fudge up the crashes/wait crash and performance every patch. Also stardock doesn't comment on anything here esp issues that they either cannot or wont fix, it is basically just blog posts by them. Its a tiny team that basically is working on something else atm. It is pretty much up to the tens of community members to help each other out.

I have similar issue game plays fine. 100s a turns into largest map tons of races runs great. Loading in and out of the game takes 3-4 min. I have been stop watching it. Even tiny map 2 races takes 2.5-3 min to exit out of. I have went through my entire system and could not find an issue with any hardware or drivers. Game worked fine forever even with early intrigue. I took a hiatus and came back and the issue is there, same hardware and setup etc. My guess is some hardware / dr
Its not something that can be "fixed"(its not a bug to begin with) If you dont tell the game where to animate the weapon effects from, then how should it know? The only thing they can do is to change that one effect depending on what weapon the ship has.
Yeah i guess the bridge is if there is no where to animate how and where is the red ball com

Just started when i came back for intrigue. Same rig i played with in general tons of other games run fine cannot find an issue i was wondering if there is some weird setup that just takes forever the computer isn't really doing work just sits forever. Its quicker to Alt f4 and relog into the game than it is to leave a game and go to main menu. I just know gciv seems to get less optimized the longer the game goes on so was hoping it was something dumb like me having 1000s of designs in

Ah gotcha i just never saw anyone say it i figured it would be worth getting it out there as i have been messing with this on and off for years and just was told its red balls deal with it. Though I wish since everyone knew this fix someone would have spoken up in the dozens of threads about this over the years but i probably just missed it. Forums are pretty slow but hopefully the few who did not know the fix at least know they can quickly fix their favorite ships. I a

Its not so much of a bug but more of how the game is programmed / byproduct of the game dealing with how to animate a weapon that is not there and seems 100% intentional as a fix for that. Now this is not 100% accurate since my game takes 4-5 min to log in and log out on so testing every instance is tough, but it is close for me at least, either the devs know this and cannot fix it or maybe me bringing this up will allow them to roll out a fix. The issue that i

So i came back to Galciv3 clean install everything up to date. I have a decent modern gaming machine. Galciv is running off an SSD 32gig ram, overclocked water cooled cpu, 1080gtx etc. Game takes maybe 3-5 minutes to load into a game and 3-5 minutes to leave a game and go to the main menu. Along with obsurd loading into the game times. This did not happen when i was running off my standard harddrive and last expansion. Game is using maybe 15-20% resources doing the lon

22 Replies 95,464 Views

My experience is the bug affects all ships assigned to races. So your own created ships you play do not have it(along with your ships you give/trade to the AI work properly) . But in games where the AI builds ships off the custom designed shipset all have the issue which pretty much ruins the entire point of having custom AI races with custom shipsets as they are just something to be shot at as they shoot red balls at you. Sure its not too bad at first but its such a glaring issue the game ge

Wow so this still isn't fixed? I assume they just do not know how or it is hardware specific related? I just dont understand how the main thing that sets this game apart from other "4x" space sims is the customization of ships and races and then the battles that you can get immersed in. Noticed that even this latest expansion the battle viewer and weapon fx are still on year 2002 levels. Along with if you make a race and make a ship set with custom ships they al

nm had some 2.33 opt in still selected. But since im here is there a resource that goes through all the additions/changes that isn't just a sales line card? Like any changes to ships/tech trees/buildings etc etc?

I bought the game, downloaded something large, charge shows up on card but now its just saying on steam its in my cart and when i load the game im getting crusade. I bet i have something stupid on my end but just odd it isn't showing me having the game and just having in my steam cart. ill fart around with this and hopefully i just am doing something wrong.

Im surprised more people are not talking about the kinetic issue. I started to think it was just me since one would think this would be a huge deal breaker for the game and/or no one watching battles. Which tbh i am convinced the main dev's/people in charge do not care much about the battle viewer and possibly do not use it in their games. Since #1 the viewer is crappier in crusade (ships starting on top of eachother range of weapon is pointless) #2 the

I noticed it is more pronounced in games where the AI has tons of money. They will always go and "rush"/ buy a ship and for w/e reason they always choose to rush cheap ships way more often than rushing good ships. So the Ai actually becomes worse in some cases as higher difficulties because of the credits cheats etc. Since the AI will spend all its credits and since something always needs to be built/bought it gets really wonky if the AI has lots of money. </

I tried everything i could think of Crusade mod folder, then tried to edit the original game file in place to see if i could get it to do anything. Tried to put the modded file even in the crusade game directory. This was awhile ago so i may have made a newb mistake i cannot remember. I just chalked it up to the game not using/looking for those commands anymore.
