Saving a ship as a template ,......the templates don`t save the equipped ship just the ship itself. Your reply is part of why I feel dumb asking the question. I understand that saving a template only saves the ships parts, not any equipment. It is my expectatation that if I save a template named "Slicer" I should, as I develelop techs, see in the Shipyard availible models, "Slicer MK 1, Slicer MK 2, etc". This does not happen for me.
I have asked this before and it makes me feel dumb, but could you please take the video opportunitity to show me how I save my design as a template and then see it get created as auto-design/quto-equipped ships in my game? I hope to make todays's broadcast live. Work will not always honor a lot of my attempts at other commitments, but I have just been through a quintuple bypass, so this week I have a good chance of making the broadcast. [e digicons

Hope to be there as long as I don't get interrupted to make the world safe for international networking again. I put an anonymous meeting in my Outlook calendar so people can't schedule crises for me at that time. I know there has been discussion on this, but could you please walk us through how to set up one of our ship designs to be automatically equipped with the latest techs? I would love to keep seeing Slicer Mk 4, Slicer Mk 11, Slicer Mk 247...
So true. We need a "I broke the game!" badge.
I have done a "sideline business" in my technical career in breaking things or hacking them both as part of my job and as part of my personality. A lot of times I got asked to. A lot of times, I don't really mean to. The worst is when I am breaking some people/process/procedure thing in mundane life. I learned
As Monty Python says, "Now, for something completely different..." Here is a new ship with minimum parts and a touch of animation. Imagine a large yo-yo. Replace the string with a sword or lawnmower blade, with the blade's base attached to the yo-yo's axle. Set the blade sweeping menacingly around and around. That is what this thing is doing. I call the base version Star Sword. When I equip it, it becomes a "Slicer" named after the base ship
Same here as well. Aren't we a silly bunch of game geeks?
Vassal States and ultra-large galaxies! They go together like Ultra-Large Galaxies and vassal states! Seriously, vassal states really speeds along giant empire invasions and can have interesting diplomatic consequences. It should fit in well with a lot of the other gameplay mechanisms. Also, having Vassals is good for my ego.
The mini-map should be a rectangle with the same aspect ratio as the main map. The hex tiling follows the same rules as the display of the main map. There should be a default zoom that makes the mini-map show the same stars and such as the main map. There should be a standard zoom and a geometric zoom. The geometric zoom shows twice as many sectors with each mouse scroll wheel click. That should help those of us insane enough to build >8gig galaxies.
Anyway...Cant wait for the release tac combat or no Cheers
On that we can gladly agree!
But if you want to create a legacy to rival CIV, tac combat should really (have been) be included at some point. There are MILLIONS of us, we have the money, we have the time and if you show us the good stuff we will PAY.
In Civ I can throw a unit or stack of units at a unit or stack of units. In GalCiv, I can throw a ship or a fleet of ships at a ship or fleet of ships.&n
I want the tech announcement robot to have a multitude of schizophrenic personalities as voiced by Robin Williams. That would fit the spirit of GalCiv! "If I knew what this tech did, I still wouldn't tell you. So there!"
So excited! The family is mocking me for my grin. Even the gamer geeks among them think I have gone a little overboard.
I love it! Animation that reflects function!
I am expecting the battle viewer to be as much an eye candy advancement as the ship builder. For similar reasons of technology and loving attention.
Yeah, when Civ 4 and then Civ 5 did that, it got turned off almost immediately. I find it instantly boring to hear repeated voice messages, exact same inflection and everything, then it grows to aggravation, then it leads to turning it off. I'm probably cranking out Pink Floyd anyway, so game sounds are much less important to me. I told my dog, "Dog, play Dead." My dog replied, "Play Floyd instead!"
How much additional gameplay will be in the beta? Can we get a list of features we will see?
Any update on this? I might actually be able to attend today.
I caught the replay. You folk are bad luck for my work schedule. I arrange things to have a break at that time and somebody's cross-continental emergency needs attention. I like all the eye-candy improvements except maybe the black hole. It seems too large and out of scale with the rest of the map. Game play aspects sound intriguing. I saw an Altairian Space Port with rotating rings. I was very excited. I am extremely impressed b
"I see you too are having a hard time putting "what is galciv?" into clear language." GalCiv is a fun Space 4X with a minmal but intriguing empire management and a map that focuses on distance as a strategic factor. Ships are designed according to researched technologies and displayed in entertaining cinematic battles. The AI has been polished to provide a consistently engaging long term game. Technical game features
They should put in a placeholder achievement "Participated in the Alpha Test". It would get permanently disabled upon Beta stage and we Elite Founders could feel even more Elite! Maybe even make a Beta achievement, too.
The technology ages seemed like a good balancing mechanism to me, but I was a little unsure they were the best answer. Listening to the arguments pro and con, I am more and more convinced they are a good idea.
Any peeks available for ship movement without the wiggle? Just hoping for a view of ship moving majestically and smoothly through space, at least as a teaser.
This is another person looking for a GalCiv 2.5 more than a brand new game. I don't want something that "feels" significantly different. The word "feels" is obviously subjective. Some examples from my subjective point of view. Tactical battles would make it a different game for me. Different in a bad way since I do not like tactical space battles at all. The adjacency bonus is a good example of something that looks intriguing yet simple and will a
